Velotric Discover 3 — Step-Through Commuter eBike
Velotric Discover 3: a Step-Through Commuter With an 80 mm Air Fork, a 730 Wh Battery, and Fenders and a Rack Already Fitted
The Velotric Discover 3 is a step-through commuter e-bike with a 750 W rear hub motor (1,100 W peak, 75 N·m), a 48 V, 15.2 Ah (730 Wh) battery certified to UL 2271, an 80 mm air suspension fork with lockout and a suspension seatpost. Velotric fits the fenders and the rear rack at the factory, and lists Apple Find My, Android Find Hub and an NFC card unlock for security. The whole bike is certified to UL 2849.
Velotric calls it its leading long-range commuter and rates it for up to 129 km on pedal assist and 105 km on throttle. It sits between two other Velotric step-throughs we sell: the Breeze 1 is 6 kg lighter (22 kg against 28 kg) but has no suspension fork, and the Discover M swaps the hub motor for a 500 W mid-drive with 100 N·m. Velotric’s own comparison: the Discover 3 gives more direct assistance and a lighter riding feel, suited to relaxed, casual riding.
It comes in two frame sizes, Regular for riders 157–180 cm and Large for 175–201 cm with the suspension seatpost (150–175 cm and 168–193 cm with a standard post), and in Cherry Crimson, Emerald Green, Lemans Blue, Stone Gray and Mint.

⚠️ Canadian legal note: a motor over 500 W
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ends on 19 October 2026).
Velotric lists the Discover 3’s motor at 750 W (1,100 W peak). That is above the 500 W line, so the Discover 3 is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. It ships set to 32 km/h with an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h; Velotric’s app also offers a Custom Mode that it describes as unlocking the throttle at up to 45 km/h where local rules permit, and its Class 1/2/3 labels are the US classification system, not a Canadian category.
Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → For a Velotric at or under the 500 W line, the Discover M → (500 W mid-drive) and the Tempo → (350 W) ship set to 32 km/h; Velotric lists an adjustable cap on both, and whether an adjustable cap qualifies is not settled.
Good to know before you order
Fitted and in the box: full-coverage aluminum fenders, an MIK HD-compatible rear rack rated for 30 kg, a kickstand, the suspension seatpost and an NFC key card, per Velotric’s in-box list.
Shorter riders: the suspension seatpost raises the lowest saddle height. Velotric says it supplies a standard seatpost free of charge if the saddle sits too high for you; ask us and we’ll request it from Velotric.
Throttle: Velotric’s spec table lists a removable trigger throttle, while its feature text describes a thumb throttle. If the throttle style matters to you, call us and we’ll confirm which one ships.
Charging in winter: the battery won’t charge below 0 °C. Velotric’s guide says to charge it at 10–30 °C, so it comes inside to charge.
Watch Velotric’s Discover 3 Unboxing and Assembly Video
We have not filmed our own Discover 3 review yet, so this is Velotric’s own video on unboxing the bike and the at-home assembly steps listed under How It Arrives below.
“Discover 3: How to unbox and assemble your Discover 3” (4:53, uploaded 20 August 2026), from Velotric’s own YouTube channel, not made by Zeus.
What the Combination Does for a Canadian Rider
- Comfort from three places — an 80 mm air fork you set to your body weight (the pressure chart is on the fork sticker), a suspension seatpost, and an upright position with swept-back bars and an adjustable stem.
- Commuter kit already on — fenders front and rear, a 30 kg-rated rack, a kickstand, a 500 lm headlight and a rear light with brake and turn signals built into the rack. Nothing to add before the first rainy ride.
- A big battery that comes inside — 730 Wh rated for up to 129 km by Velotric, and it has to come inside to charge in winter: it won’t charge below 0 °C.
- Found and locked — Apple Find My and Android Find Hub tracking, and an NFC card that unlocks the bike with a tap.
Discover 3 Sizes, Fit and Measurements
Velotric sells two frame sizes. Rider heights are from its spec table; the other figures are from its size-chart images. Inches and feet are our conversion of Velotric’s metric figures.
| Measurement | Regular | Large |
|---|---|---|
| Rider height, suspension seatpost | 157–180 cm (5′2″–5′11″) | 175–201 cm (5′9″–6′7″) |
| Rider height, standard seatpost | 150–175 cm (4′11″–5′9″) | 168–193 cm (5′6″–6′4″) |
| Stand-over height | 400 mm (15.7″) | 396 mm (15.6″) |
| Saddle height | 829–985 mm (32.6–38.8″) | 900–1,054 mm (35.4–41.5″) |
| Reach | 373 mm (14.7″) | 373 mm (14.7″) |
| Handlebar height | 1,110 mm (43.7″) | 1,110 mm (43.7″) |
| Wheelbase | 1,113 mm (43.8″) | 1,113 mm (43.8″) |
| Total length | 1,818 mm (71.6″) | 1,818 mm (71.6″) |
| Handlebar width | 680 mm (26.8″) | 700 mm (27.6″) |
The two sizes share the low step (Velotric’s charts give 400 mm and 396 mm) and differ mainly in saddle height. Between 175 and 180 cm either fits. If the suspension seatpost puts the saddle too high, Velotric supplies a standard post. Call us with your height and inseam if you are unsure.
Key Features
- 750 W rear hub motor, 1,100 W peak, 75 N·m — Velotric Canada’s rating. It is above the 500 W provincial line (see the legal note above).
- SensorSwap: torque or cadence — Velotric says torque mode suits riders who change speed often and rough ground, and cadence mode suits longer, steadier rides; you choose on the bike.
- 48 V, 15.2 Ah (730 Wh) battery — IPX7, certified to UL 2271, built from Samsung/LG 21700 cells certified to UL 2580, charged by a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric says Discover 2 and Discover 3 batteries are interchangeable once the bike’s firmware is updated.
- 80 mm air suspension fork with lockout — set by body weight from the chart on the fork sticker, with a suspension seatpost behind it.
- 3.5″ full-colour display — Bluetooth and NFC, an adjustable angle, 5 riding modes with ride tuning, cruise control, one-touch speed-setting switching, a 4.7 km/h walk mode and a USB-C port for a phone.
- Throttle — a removable trigger throttle in Velotric’s spec table (its feature text describes a thumb throttle); throttle rules on public roads are set by each province.
- Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, 180 mm rotors front and rear — with levers that cut the motor when you brake.
- Shimano 8-speed with an 11–40T freewheel — a KMC 8-speed chain, a 46T narrow-wide chainring and 170 mm aluminum cranks.
- Kenda 27.5 × 2.4″ puncture-resistant tires — a close multi-terrain tread for pavement and gravel, on aluminum rims with a NOVATEC front hub on a 15 × 110 mm thru-axle.
- Lights and signals — a 500 lm headlight with an adjustable angle, and a rear light in the rack that works as a brake light and turn signals.
- Apple Find My, Android Find Hub and NFC unlock — plus the Velotric app for over-the-air updates.
- UL 2849 and ISO 4210 — Velotric lists UL 2849 for the e-bike’s electrical system and UL 2271 for the battery; the whole bike is rated IPX6.
How It Arrives
Velotric’s guide says the bike ships partially assembled. In the box, per Velotric:
- The Discover 3, with its battery, charger, front light and display
- Front and rear fenders, the rear rack, the suspension seatpost and the kickstand
- Front and rear reflectors, a bell, a cable binder, an NFC key card, and left and right pedals
- The manual and app guide, and a toolkit
At home, in the guide’s order: the handlebar and stem, the front wheel, the front fender, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then a tire-pressure check and charging the battery. The guide includes a table of recommended torque values. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- 28 kg is not light. That is 6 kg more than the Breeze 1 and 10.3 kg more than the Tempo; the suspension, fenders, rack and the 730 Wh battery are where it goes.
- A 750 W motor is above the provincial e-bike line. If you need a bike that ships within the 500 W line, look at the Discover M (500 W) or the Tempo (350 W); both still carry an adjustable speed cap.
- Hub-motor feel, by Velotric’s own account. Velotric says the Discover 3 gives more direct assistance and a lighter feel for relaxed riding, and the Discover M’s mid-drive a more natural feel and better efficiency for long, mixed-terrain rides.
If you ride paved paths and city streets and want fenders, a rack and a suspension seatpost without adding anything, the Discover 3 comes with all three.

Frequently Asked Questions
What riders ask about the Discover 3
Where can I buy the Velotric Discover 3 in Canada?
Here, from Zeus eBikes Canada: order the Discover 3 online on this page. It ships from Canada with free Canada-wide shipping (no P.O. boxes or remote communities: call first), processed in 1–3 business days, then 2–7 business days in transit. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file warranty claims with Velotric for you. Questions before you order: 1-866-938-7580 or sales@zeusebikes.ca; to pay by Interac e-Transfer instead of card, email sales@ for an invoice.
Does the Velotric Discover 3 have a throttle?
Yes. Velotric’s spec table lists a trigger throttle that can be removed, and its feature text describes a thumb throttle; ask us if the style matters and we’ll confirm which ships. Velotric puts throttle-only range at 105 km. Its app also has a Custom Mode that Velotric says unlocks the throttle at up to 45 km/h where local rules permit; in Canada the Discover 3’s 750 W motor is already above the 500 W line the provincial rules converge on. Pedal assist vs throttle →
How much does the Discover 3 weigh, and how much weight can it carry?
Velotric lists it at 28 kg, with a maximum load of 200 kg (440 lb) for rider plus cargo. Velotric’s guide gives the same 440 lb as the total including the bike, so plan within the lower reading. The rear rack is rated for 30 kg. E-bikes for heavy riders →
What class is the Discover 3, how fast does it go, and can I ride it on Canadian roads?
It ships set to 32 km/h, and Velotric lists an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h. Velotric labels the settings Class 1/2/3; those are US labels, not a Canadian category. Velotric lists the motor at 750 W, above that line, so the Discover 3 is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province →
How far does the Discover 3 go on a charge?
Velotric rates it for up to 129 km on pedal assist and 105 km on throttle; its Canadian page does not print the test conditions for those figures. Range drops with higher assist, hills, wind, a heavier load and cold weather. Our e-bike battery guide →
What battery does it use, how do I charge it, and how long does it take?
A 48 V, 15.2 Ah (730 Wh) pack, IPX7, certified to UL 2271, built from Samsung/LG 21700 cells certified to UL 2580, on a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric’s guide says to charge it at 10–30 °C; it will not charge below 0 °C or above 45 °C, and if it refuses, let it come to room temperature for at least an hour before trying again. Velotric does not publish a charging time for it. Store it at 10–25 °C. Velotric says Discover 2 and Discover 3 batteries are interchangeable after a firmware update. Winter e-bikes in Canada →
Will the Discover 3 fit me: Regular or Large?
Velotric sizes it by rider height with the suspension seatpost: Regular 157–180 cm (5′2″–5′11″), Large 175–201 cm (5′9″–6′7″). With a standard seatpost the ranges drop to 150–175 cm and 168–193 cm. Velotric’s size charts give saddle heights of 829–985 mm (Regular) and 900–1,054 mm (Large). Velotric supplies a standard seatpost free if the suspension post sits too high for you; call us with your height and inseam.
Is the Discover 3 a mid-drive?
No. It uses a 750 W rear hub motor. Velotric’s mid-drive is the Discover M (500 W, 100 N·m). Velotric’s own comparison: the Discover M feels more natural and is more efficient for long, mixed-terrain rides; the Discover 3 gives more direct assistance and a lighter feel for relaxed riding. Mid-drive vs hub motor →
Are fenders and a rack included, and what accessories fit?
Yes: Velotric fits full-coverage aluminum fenders and an MIK HD-compatible rear rack (rated for 30 kg) at the factory, with a kickstand and a suspension seatpost. MIK HD-compatible bags and baskets clip to the rack. Velotric’s Canadian page lists no child or passenger seat for the Discover 3, so we don’t sell it as a passenger bike.
What tires does it use, and what pressure should they run?
Kenda 27.5 × 2.4″ puncture-resistant e-bike tires with a multi-terrain tread. Velotric’s guide says to check the pressure by hand and inflate until the tire is firm, never above the maximum printed on the tire’s sidewall; it gives no single number, so go by the sidewall of your own tires.
What is the NFC card for?
It unlocks the bike with a tap instead of a code or the app. One NFC key card comes in the box, and Velotric’s guide shows how to turn NFC unlock on or off in the display’s settings menu. Tracking is separate: Apple Find My and Android Find Hub. E-bike theft protection →
Is the Discover 3 waterproof? Can I ride it in the rain?
Velotric rates the whole bike IPX6 and the battery IPX7, which is protection against splashes and rain, not submersion. Its guide warns that snow, rain, road salt and acids can cause corrosion, and that water damage and corrosion are not covered by the warranty; rinse salt off and store the bike indoors.
How does the Discover 3 arrive, and is assembly hard?
Velotric says it ships partially assembled, with a toolkit. You fit the handlebar and stem, the front wheel, the front fender, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery; the guide includes a table of recommended torque values. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video, and Velotric’s video is above. Velotric’s assembly and operation guide →
Discover 3 or Discover M: which should I buy?
Both share the 80 mm air fork, the suspension seatpost, the fenders and the rack. The Discover M swaps the 750 W hub for a 500 W mid-drive with 100 N·m and a larger 801.6 Wh battery, rated for 153 km; the Discover 3 is the 750 W hub-motor version with a 730 Wh pack. See the comparison →
What warranty comes with the Discover 3?
Velotric’s Canadian warranty policy (read 17 October 2026) covers the electrical components for 2 years: the motor, throttle, control panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, sensor, Find My and IoT modules, and charger, with the battery covered for up to 300 charge cycles in that time (Velotric says it is designed to keep up to 75% of its capacity over them). Other essential parts (suspension fork, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes except pads, bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hubs, freewheel, derailleur and shifter) and accessories are covered for 1 year. Tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, paint and graphics are not covered, and coverage is for the first owner. The same policy also says third-party components such as drivetrain, brake or suspension parts are not covered by it, and its 5-year frame line names only the T1 and T1 ST; where its wording leaves a question, we get Velotric’s answer for you before you buy. These are Velotric’s own published Canadian terms (the limited warranty printed in its guide applies to US purchases only), backed by Velotric in full. Velotric’s policy sends buyers who bought through a dealer to that dealer for after-sale service, which is us, and we handle the claim with Velotric for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Velotric and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
Are there reviews of the Discover 3?
There are no Zeus customer reviews of the Discover 3 yet. Velotric’s own Canadian page for it shows five video reviews from other YouTube channels: Mike Rochester’s, Ride Electric Reviews’, Scott Hardesty’s, TailHappyTV’s and ElectricBikeReview.com’s (all posted 10 February 2026). YouTube labels Mike Rochester’s, Ride Electric Reviews’ and Scott Hardesty’s as including paid promotion; TailHappyTV’s description carries the creator’s affiliate links. Speeds and prices in reviews made outside Canada won’t match this page, which uses Velotric Canada’s figures. Watch Velotric’s assembly video above, or call us at 1-866-938-7580 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s right for you.
