West Biking Self-Locking Phone Holder — Fits 5.4–7.5" Phones
West Biking Self-Locking Phone Holder: 5.4–7.5 Inch Phones, Handlebar or Mirror Mount
Pull the cradle open, set your phone in, and the arms close on its four corners; a button on the right rear of the cradle then locks them. This West Biking holder is rated for phones from 5.4 to 7.5 inches and comes in two versions: a handlebar clamp for round bars 18–28 mm across, or a rearview-mirror mount that fits between a mirror already on your handlebar and the mirror’s bracket base.
We have not fitted or tested one yet. The figures on this page come from the supplier’s listing for model 0715099, which we read on 7 October 2026, and we say when something is the supplier’s claim rather than ours.

What You Get
- A self-locking cradle. The supplier’s steps: pull the stand open, place the phone, then press the lock button on the right rear of the stand. Its slide adds: “In the unlocked state, push it up slightly and release it, then it will automatically clamp”.
- A four-corner grip. The arms hold the phone by its corners, so the screen stays uncovered, and the supplier’s photo shows a charging cable plugged into a mounted phone (its caption: “has a charging port reserved”).
- A 360° ball joint. In the listing’s words, “Horizontal 360° free rotation, adjustable tilt angle”, so you can turn the phone sideways and angle it toward you.
- Two ways to mount it. The handlebar clamp closes around a round bar 18–28 mm across and is tightened with the screw under the bracket. The mirror version carries the cradle on an arm about 7 cm long (the supplier’s drawing) whose end sits between your mirror and its bracket base.
- Phone size. 5.4 to 7.5 inches, per the listing.
Which Version Do You Need?
| Detail | Handlebar Clamp | Rearview Mirror Mount |
|---|---|---|
| Fits on | A round handlebar 18–28 mm across | A handlebar that already carries a bolted-on mirror |
| Fitting, per the supplier | Set the base on the bar and tighten the screw below the bracket | Remove the mirror with a wrench, line the support rod up with the mirror’s bracket base, refit the mirror and tighten it |
| Weight | About 122 g | About 131 g |
| Size | 9 × 14.5 × 15 cm | 9 × 19 × 9 cm |
| Material | ABS + PP + rubber | ABS + aluminium alloy |
| Not published | Opening width of the cradle in millimetres | The size of the hole at the end of the support rod |
Fitting It
Handlebar version: measure the bar where you want the holder. It has to be round and 18–28 mm across. Sheldon Brown’s handlebar crib sheet lists grip-area sizes of 22.2 mm and 23.8 mm, which sit inside that range, and stem-clamp sizes from 22.2 mm up to 31.8 mm; the largest of those is wider than this clamp takes. So on some bikes the holder goes out toward the grip rather than right beside the stem, and on an e-bike that stretch can be shared with the brake lever, throttle or display (our note, not the supplier’s).
Mirror version: only for a bike, scooter or motorcycle with a mirror bolted to the handlebar. The supplier’s steps have you loosen the mirror’s screw with a wrench, take the mirror off, line the holder’s support rod up with the mirror’s bracket base, then put the mirror back and tighten it. The listing does not give the size of the hole at the end of the rod, so call us with your make and model if you are not sure it will fit.
The Honest Take
- We have not tested it. No bump, drop, vibration or rain test by us; everything here is the supplier’s description or our reading of it.
- It does not cover your phone. It is an open cradle, and the listing makes no water-resistance claim. For wet rides, our West Biking waterproof phone bag (phones to 6.0 inches) or enclosed phone holder (screens to 6.7 inches, sold as waterproof) cover the phone.
- No vibration damper is listed. The supplier mentions “soft pads, anti-shock and anti-shake”, but shows no damping part and gives no figure. Apple says it is “not recommended to attach your iPhone to motorcycles with high-power or high-volume engines”, and for mopeds and scooters it recommends “a vibration dampening mount or a gimbal” (Apple Support). Apple’s note does not mention bicycles or e-bikes.
- The fit is a screen size. 5.4–7.5 inches, with no opening width in millimetres and nothing about cases or folding phones.
- The listing words the material two ways. Its attribute table says “ABS+Aluminum Alloy”; its parameter sheet splits it by version: ABS + PP + rubber for the handlebar version, ABS + aluminium alloy for the mirror version. Both are in the specifications below.
- No warranty term is confirmed. See Returns & Warranty below.

Who It Suits, and Who Should Skip It
It suits riders who navigate with a phone between 5.4 and 7.5 inches and have a round bar 18–28 mm across, or a bolted-on mirror, to mount it on. Skip it if your phone is smaller than 5.4 inches (our 360° One-Touch holder starts at 4.5), if you want the phone covered in the rain (the waterproof bag or the enclosed holder), if the only free stretch of bar is wider than 28 mm (the 360° One-Touch holder takes 22–33 mm), or if you would mount an iPhone on a motorcycle with a high-power engine (see Apple’s note above). Our eBike safety guide and urban eBike guide cover the rest of a commuter set-up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it hold my phone, and my case?
West Biking rates it for phones from 5.4 to 7.5 inches. That is a screen size: the listing gives no opening width in millimetres and says nothing about cases or folding phones. If your phone is near either end of that range, or wears a thick case, call 1-866-938-7580 with the model before you order.
Will it fit my handlebar?
The handlebar version clamps a round bar 18–28 mm across, so measure the spot where you want it. Sheldon Brown’s handlebar crib sheet lists grip-area sizes of 22.2 and 23.8 mm, inside that range, and stem-clamp sizes from 22.2 up to 31.8 mm; the largest is wider than this clamp takes, so on some bikes the holder sits out toward the grip. The listing does not cover square or flat-sided bars. Our 360° One-Touch holder takes bars 22–33 mm across.
Can my phone fall out on bumps?
The design relies on its lock: once the arms close on the phone’s corners, you press the lock button on the right rear of the cradle (the supplier’s step 4). We have not bump- or drop-tested it, and the listing gives no retention or load figure. Our suggestion: press the lock every time and give the phone a firm tug before you ride off.
Will vibration damage my phone’s camera?
Apple says high-amplitude vibration within certain frequency ranges, specifically from high-power motorcycle engines, can degrade the iPhone camera system, and that attaching an iPhone to motorcycles with high-power or high-volume engines is not recommended. For mopeds and scooters it recommends a vibration dampening mount or a gimbal, and avoiding regular use for prolonged periods (Apple Support). Its note does not mention bicycles or e-bikes. This holder lists soft pads but no damper and no vibration figure, and we have not tested it.
Is it waterproof?
No. It is an open cradle that holds the phone by its corners, and the listing makes no water-resistance claim. For wet rides, our West Biking waterproof phone bag (phones to 6.0 inches) or our enclosed phone holder (screens to 6.7 inches, sold as waterproof) cover the phone.
Should I get the handlebar or the mirror version?
Choose the handlebar version if you have a round bar 18–28 mm across where you want the phone. Choose the mirror version only if a mirror is already bolted to your handlebar: you take the mirror off with a wrench, line the holder’s support rod up with the mirror’s bracket base and refit the mirror on top. The listing does not give the size of the hole at the end of the rod, so call 1-866-938-7580 with your make and model if you are unsure.
How do I install it?
The supplier’s steps for the handlebar version: put the support base on the bar where you want it, tighten the screw below the bracket, pull the stand open and place the phone, press the lock button on the right rear, adjust the phone’s angle and tighten the “button above the stand”, then tighten the screws under the bracket. For the mirror version: loosen the mirror’s screw with a wrench and remove the mirror, align the support rod with the bracket base, refit the mirror and tighten it, pull out the stand to hold the phone, then press the button at the back right to lock it. Both sets of steps are in the photos on this page.
Can I turn my phone sideways?
The listing says yes: the ball joint gives “horizontal 360° free rotation” and an adjustable tilt, so the cradle can sit upright or sideways. We have not tried a phone in it sideways.
What if it does not fit, or arrives broken?
Unused, unopened items can be returned within 15 days of delivery, less a 15% restocking fee; the terms are in our refund policy. A factory-defective holder is handled under the Dead-on-Arrival section of that policy. We have not confirmed a manufacturer warranty term, so we state none; call 1-866-938-7580 before you order if that matters to you.
