West Biking Winter Handlebar Mittens: a Fleece-Lined Pair That Stays on Your Bar

These are not gloves you wear. They are a pair of mittens that stay on the ends of your handlebar: you slide your hands in and hold your usual grips, so your hands ride in a fleece-lined shell instead of out in the wind. The supplier lists the material as “PU + polar fleece”, the colour as black and the size as one size, and its photos show them on both a drop bar and a flat bar.

We have not tested a pair yet. The details on this page come from the supplier’s listing and its photos, which we saved on 17 October 2026; when something is the supplier’s claim, we say so.

What You Get

  • A pair, one for each end of the bar. Your hands go in through the cuff and hold the grips, inside a shell that covers the end of the bar.
  • A fleece lining. The supplier’s material line is “PU + polar fleece”. We do not have the full fibre content, so we do not state one.
  • A drawcord at the cuff. The supplier’s photos show a drawcord with a toggle at the cuff opening, and one of its slides calls them “Elastic cuffs”.
  • One size, in black. The listing gives the size as “Free size” and the colour as black.

How It Compares

Our two West Biking options for cold hands, from each product’s Zeus page and, for this one, the supplier’s listing, 17 October 2026
Detail These handlebar mittens (you are here) Thin fleece thermal gloves
What it is A pair of covers that stay on the bar; your hands go inside onto your grips A pair of gloves you wear on and off the bike

Covers the end of the bar Yes, so levers beside the grip go inside too, if they fit (check before riding) No, they cover your hands only
Using your phone Slide a hand out Flip-top thumb and index fingertips for touchscreens, per its page
Temperature rating None that we have None; its page says it is not for sustained sub-zero cold and biting wind

The glove figures come from its own page: see our West Biking thin fleece thermal gloves. Scroll right on a phone if the table is cut off.

The Honest Take

  1. We have not tested them. No warmth, wind or rain test by us, and we have no independent test results for them.
  2. “Waterproof” and “Reflective” are the supplier’s words. Its title says waterproof, while one of its photos says “water resistant”, a weaker claim, so we promise neither, and we have no test of how they show up in headlights at night.
  3. Check your controls fit inside. If your e-bike has a display remote or a throttle beside the grip, it has to fit inside with your hand. We do not have the inside measurements, so try it at a standstill before you ride.
  4. Getting a hand out takes a moment. Practise reaching for a hand signal before you ride in traffic with them fitted.

Who It Suits, and Who Should Skip It

They suit riders who keep going into the cold months on a flat or drop bar and want their hands covered on the bike. Skip them if bar-end mirrors or bar-end controls sit where the mittens go, or if you want warmth that comes off the bike with you: our West Biking thin fleece thermal gloves are the wear-them option. Frequently Asked Questions

Will they fit my e-bike?

They go over the ends of the handlebar, and the supplier lists them as one size (“Free size”) for “MTB BIKE Roads bike”. Its photos show them on a drop bar and on a flat bar. We do not have the inside measurements, so we cannot promise that a large display remote or a thumb throttle fits inside, and bar-end mirrors or bar-end controls sit where the mittens go. If you are unsure, call 1-866-938-7580 with your bike’s model before you order.

Can I still use my brakes, throttle and display buttons?

Your hands go inside onto your usual grips, so the levers and buttons stay where they are. How much room is left around them depends on your bike. Before your first ride, sit on the bike at a standstill, put your hands in and check that you can pull both brake levers all the way and work the throttle and display buttons. If you cannot, do not ride with them fitted.

Are they waterproof?

The supplier says so in its listing title and lists the material as “210t-waterproof PU + polar fleece”, but one of its own photos calls the outer layer “water resistant”, which is a weaker claim. We have not tested them in rain, so we do not promise either.

How warm are they?

We have no temperature rating for them, and we have not measured them. The supplier lists a polar-fleece lining and describes them as “Thermal” and “Winter Warm”. How warm your hands stay will also depend on what you wear on them inside.

Can I return them?

Yes, if they are unused and unopened: returns are accepted within 15 days of delivery, less a 15% restocking fee, and you pay the return shipping. If we shipped the wrong item or it is materially not as described, we pay the return shipping and no restocking fee applies. The full terms are in our refund policy. We have not confirmed a manufacturer warranty term for these mittens, so we state none.
