Prices and availability update live from each listing. “Options” are colour and battery versions; a listing’s own page has the full choice.

How to choose: pick by storage first, then streets, then distance. A folder solves a condo or a car trunk; suspension or fat tires solve broken pavement; for long rides, compare battery sizes in the spec table.

The Rule Every Bike Here Meets

Every bike on this shelf passed one test: a motor rated 500W or less with all motors combined, assistance that stops at no more than 32 km/h as shipped, a maker’s Canadian product page that lists no faster mode, working pedals, no more than three wheels and no moped or scooter styling. Helmet rules, minimum ages and where e-bikes may ride differ by province and city. The rules that matter most for these bikes:

  • Ontario: The bike’s unladen weight must not be more than 120 kilograms, and “the motor of a power-assisted bicycle must cease to propel the bicycle forward if pedalling stops, the accelerator is released or the brakes are applied.” (O. Reg. 369/09, ss. 1 and 3(2))
  • British Columbia: Two classes since April 5, 2024: a standard e-bike (motors up to 500 W in total, 32 km/h, riders 16 and over) and a light e-bike (up to 250 W, 25 km/h, assistance only while pedalling, riders 14 and over). Every bike here has a motor above the light class’s 250 W limit, so plan on the standard class’s age and rules. (B.C. Reg. 64/2024, ss. 3, 6, 8, 9)
  • Québec: The motor must be rated 500 watts or less and stop assisting at no more than 32 km/h. Riders must be 18, or 14 to 17 with a Class 6D licence, and must wear a bike helmet. Since July 30, 2024, motor vehicles that look like motorcycles, mopeds or scooters without a CMVSS certification mark are barred from public roads, which is why no moped-style bike is on this shelf. (SAAQ: electric bikes)
  • Nova Scotia: The Motor Vehicle Act’s 30 km/h ended on 19 October 2026. From that day the Traffic Safety Act’s regulations define a power-assisted bicycle as one whose motor is rated 500 W or less and gives no further assistance at 32 km/h on level ground, with one of two safety features: a way to switch the motor on and off that is separate from the throttle, or a motor that cannot engage below 3 km/h. No one under 14 may ride one. (N.S. Reg. 221/2026, s. 3; N.S. Reg. 230/2026, s. 128)

Keep the factory settings. A display or app setting that raises the limit takes any bike outside every province’s e-bike rules, so keep the factory limit on public roads. Every province, with sources: our urban guide’s rules table and e-bike laws by province.

Not on This Shelf, and Where to Find It

We sell over-500W, dual-motor and moped-style e-bikes too, but none passes the test above, so none is on this shelf. The same goes for bikes whose makers advertise an unlocked or adjustable top speed above 32 km/h. If you ride private land, or want one of those classes anyway, each has its own guide: dual-motor e-bikes, moped-style e-bikes and 500W vs 750W vs 1000W.

Urban eBike FAQ

What is an urban e-bike?

Here it means an electric bicycle chosen for paved city riding: commuting, errands and storage in a condo or a car trunk. Every bike on this shelf also passed one test: a motor rated 500W or less, assistance that stops at no more than 32 km/h as shipped, and a maker’s Canadian product page that lists no faster mode. Today that is 14 models, from $1,099 to $3,499 CAD.

What is the best commuter e-bike in Canada?

For most commuters, the Taubik Blackburn 275T (from $2,799): 500W, torque and cadence sensing you switch between, hydraulic brakes and a built-in wheel lock. On a budget, the Samebike RS-A01 Pro-T ($1,199); for a condo, the folding Monaco S or CY20; on three wheels, the Meigi Hera ($1,799). The reasons are in our urban commuter guide.

How much does an urban e-bike cost at Zeus?

Today the 14 models here run from $1,099 to $3,499 CAD at their lowest available price, with free shipping across Canada. Financing options appear on each product page and at checkout.

Can I ride these e-bikes on the road in my province?

Yes, within your province’s rules: the provinces converge on a motor rated 500W or less, assistance that stops at 32 km/h (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ended on 19 October 2026) and working pedals, and they set their own helmet, age and road-access rules. Every bike on this shelf ships inside those limits. Check your province in our e-bike laws guide before the first ride.

Which urban e-bikes fold?

For a smooth ride and switchable sensing, the Taubik Monaco S ($2,899) or the fat-tire Escape S ($2,599). For less, the Samebike CY20 ($1,199) or the 20LVXD30-II ($1,099), which is also the lightest at 25 kg. The LOTDM200-II ($1,499) and RS-A02 Pro ($1,499) fold too, on 4-inch tires. On three wheels, the Meet One Breeze 2.0 ($2,599) folds as well.

Can I commute on these e-bikes in winter?

Plan around the battery and the manual. Lithium-ion should not be charged below freezing, so store and charge the pack indoors; Taubik’s manuals also state that the bike is not intended for use below 0°C, so ask us or Taubik before winter riding a Taubik. Samebike sells the RS-A02 Pro’s 4-inch tires for snow among other surfaces, and in our view fat tires help most on slush and packed snow at the road edge. More in our winter e-bike guide.

Which commuter e-bike is easiest to step through?

The Taubik Vista 26 ($2,399), on what Taubik calls an ultra-low step-through frame. The Tour S is a step-through on fat tires, the LOTDM200-II a low-step folder, and the Meigi Hera trike has no balance to manage at all. All suit riding in work clothes.
