A Motor in Each Wheel, Four-Bar Full Suspension and a Torque Sensor, on 26×4.0 Fat Tires.

On snow, sand or a soft logging road, a rear-drive bike loses its drive the moment its back tire spins. The Defender-S 2.0 puts a 750W hub motor in both wheels, so when the rear slips, the front is still pulling. Eunorau rates the pair at 1,500W combined and 85 N·m maximum torque, and the 2.0 (also sold as the Hunter X6) adds a bottom-bracket torque sensor that meters that power by how hard you pedal instead of surging the moment the cranks turn.

Under it is a new four-bar full-suspension frame with an adjustable AOS01 air shock and an RST GUIDE fork with 75 mm of travel and lockout, rolling on 26×4.0 fat tires. A Shimano CUES 1×9 drivetrain with an 11–36T cassette handles the gears, hydraulic brakes with 203 mm rotors handle the stopping, and a removable 48V 17Ah battery (816 Wh) powers both motors. The handlebar display is a colour MINI TOUCH unit with Bluetooth.

Eunorau Canada now lists the 2.0 where the original Defender-S used to be, and the original’s colours are no longer in its catalogue; our original Defender-S listing stays up for reference. The 2.0 keeps the dual 750W motors, fork and fat tires and changes most of what is around them; the FAQ below lists what changed, including the two things that went the other way.

⚠️ Canadian legal note: read this before you buy

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Each of the Defender-S 2.0’s two motors is rated at 750W, so it is not a power-assisted bicycle in any province, whatever its speed setting.

Eunorau’s Canadian listing labels it “Class 2, speed limited, unlockable”. Class 1, 2 and 3 are US labels, not Canadian legal categories. Treat the 2.0 as an off-road machine: private land, off-road trails that permit it, and land you have permission to ride. What riding it on a public road would require differs by province, so check yours first.

Want full suspension with a 500W motor? The Eunorau Defender has one, with a 32 km/h maximum speed in Eunorau’s spec; check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Start with our Canadian e-bike law guide → or browse 500W e-bikes →

Why Two Motors Matter on Soft Ground

A single rear motor can only push. On loose surfaces that push is limited by one tire’s grip, and once it breaks loose the bike digs in. Drive at both wheels changes that:

  • Traction where you lose it. Snow, sand, mud and gravel climbs are where a rear-drive bike spins out; with the front wheel also driving, the bike keeps moving forward. Dual-motor e-bikes in Canada, compared →
  • Power you can meter. The torque sensor scales assistance to your pedal pressure, so you can feed power gently on a slippery climb instead of getting a jolt.
  • Suspension that keeps both tires down. A four-bar rear linkage and an air shock help the rear wheel follow the ground, which matters more when both wheels are driving.
  • Brakes sized for the weight. 203 mm rotors front and rear, with motor cut-off sensors in both levers, for a 40.5 kg bike coming down a loose grade.

Key Features

  • Two 48V 750W hub motors, front and rear — 1,500W combined rated power and 85 N·m maximum torque in Eunorau’s figures, run by a 48V 25A dual-motor controller. Eunorau lists “selectable power for changing conditions”; how one- and two-motor modes are selected on the 2.0 is not published yet (see the FAQ). Hub motor vs mid-drive, explained →
  • Bottom-bracket torque sensor — Assistance follows pedal pressure: lighter pressure, gentler support; harder pedalling, more. Smoother starts on loose ground.
  • Four-bar full suspension — 6061 aluminum frame with a four-bar rear linkage and an AOS01 adjustable air shock (165 mm eye-to-eye), plus an RST GUIDE fork with 75 mm of travel and lockout.
  • 26×4.0 fat tires — On 26-inch double-wall aluminum rims with 12-gauge, 36-hole spokes. Wide tires spread the load on snow, sand and soft forest floor. Fat tire e-bikes in Canada →
  • Shimano CUES 1×9, 11–36T — Rapidfire Plus shifter, CUES derailleur and cassette, 42T ring and 170 mm cranks: a practical range for climbing and cruising.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes, 203 mm rotors — Front and rear, with motor cut-off sensors that stop assistance when either lever is pulled.
  • 48V 17Ah removable battery — 816 Wh from 21700 cells with a 50A BMS; take it inside to charge (about 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger). Eunorau offers an optional second battery for up to 128 km combined (not included).
  • MINI TOUCH colour display with Bluetooth — Handlebar access to pedal-assist and speed settings; an LED front light with an electronic horn.

Included Equipment

Everything below is on Eunorau’s equipment list for the Defender-S 2.0:

  • LED front light with electronic horn
  • Red rear reflector
  • Adjustable aluminum kickstand
  • 9/16″ folding pedals
  • Comfort saddle and 130 mm lock-on grips
  • MINI TOUCH colour display with Bluetooth
  • 54.6V 2A charger

A rear rack and fenders are not included. Eunorau has not said whether its rack and fender set for the original Defender-S fits the 2.0, and it has not published a box-contents or pre-assembly list. Ask us before you order if you need either.

The Honest Take: What We’d Change

  1. There is no ship date. Eunorau’s own listing says “ships soon” and nothing more. That is why cancelling before it ships gets you a full refund here, but if you need a bike this month, the 2.0 may not be the one.
  2. It got heavier. 89.3 lb on Eunorau’s 2.0 page against 77 lb on its page for the original. Loading it onto a vehicle rack or carrying it up steps is a two-person job.
  3. No rear light. The 2.0 lists a red reflector at the back; Eunorau’s page for the original listed a taillight. If you ride the approach in the dark, add a rear light.
  4. A few things are not published yet. How you switch between one and two motors, whether there is a throttle, the size of the optional second battery and a rider-height range for the 19″ frame. We say so where each comes up rather than guess.
  5. 75 mm of fork travel. That is the same as the original and short for a full-suspension bike. It takes the edge off rough trails and frozen ruts; for more travel, the Specter-S 4.0 has a 140 mm fork.

None of that changes what the 2.0 is for: riding where one driven wheel is not enough. Snow, sand, mud and soft hunting ground are the job two driven wheels, a torque sensor and full suspension are built for.

Who Is the Defender-S 2.0 For?

  • Hunters on soft ground — Drive at both wheels for wet meadows, sand and snow, full suspension for the trail in, and camouflage or olive colour options. Stay within the 300 lb payload. Best hunting e-bikes in Canada →
  • Riders who keep going after the snow — Two driven fat tires and a battery you bring inside. Winter e-bike guide →
  • Rural landowners and cottage roads — Gravel lanes, sandy tracks and fence lines, where traction matters more than top speed.
  • Anyone choosing between AWD bikes — All dual-motor e-bikes at Zeus →

Who it’s NOT for: anyone who needs an e-bike for bike lanes and roads (each 750W motor rules it out as an e-bike in every province; for a 500W option see the Defender or 500W e-bikes). Riders who must lift a bike often (40.5 kg). Riders who want a rack and fenders in the box (the Specter-S 4.0 includes them). Anyone who needs the bike on a fixed date, since Eunorau has not published one. For all-wheel drive at a lower price, look at the FAT-AWD 3.0.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Defender-S 2.0 street-legal in Canada?

Not as an e-bike. Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021, so the rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Each of the Defender-S 2.0’s two hub motors is rated at 750W (1,500W combined), so it is not a power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Eunorau starts it in a mode assisted to 32 km/h and lists a maximum setting of about 45 km/h. Treat it as an off-road machine for private land, off-road trails that permit it and land you have permission to ride, and check your province’s rules before any public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

When will my Defender-S 2.0 ship?

It is a pre-order. Eunorau Canada lists the 2.0 as “Pre-order – ships soon” and has not published a ship date, so we cannot give you one either. Call 1-866-938-7580 or contact us for the latest ETA before you order. If you order and the wait stops working for you, cancel any time before your bike ships and you get a full refund. Shipping is free Canada-wide.

Can I ride it on only one motor?

Eunorau’s own answer for the 2.0 is that the dual-motor control system “is designed to manage motor operation for different conditions”, and it tells owners to confirm “the final production control labels and operating sequence in the supplied manual.” Its listing also mentions “selectable power for changing conditions”. So how you switch between one and two motors on the 2.0 is not published yet. (Eunorau’s 2025 page for the original Defender-S showed a three-position switch: front motor, rear motor or both.) If one-motor riding matters to you, ask us before you order.

How does the torque sensor feel?

Eunorau puts a torque sensor at the bottom bracket. It reads how hard you press on the pedals, so a light push gives gentle help and a hard push on a climb calls up more. Compared with a cadence sensor, which adds power once the cranks turn, starts and speed changes feel smoother, which helps on loose ground where a sudden surge can spin a tire. Motor and sensor types explained →

What changed from the original Defender-S?

Going by Eunorau’s own pages (its 2025 page for the original and its 2026 page for the 2.0): the 2.0 lists a bottom-bracket torque sensor (the 2025 page names no sensor type), a four-bar rear linkage with an AOS01 air shock (the original listed an EXA KS582 shock), a 17Ah battery (was 15Ah), a Shimano CUES 9-speed with an 11–36T cassette (was Alivio, 11–34T), 203 mm brake rotors (was 180 mm) and a colour display with Bluetooth (was an LCD). Two things went the other way: it lists at 89.3 lb against 77 lb, and the rear has a red reflector where the original listed a taillight. The two 750W hub motors, the RST GUIDE 75 mm fork, 26×4.0 tires and the 300 lb payload carry over. We still list the original Defender-S for reference: its colours (Black, Forest Cobra, Silver Grey) are no longer in Eunorau Canada’s catalogue.

How far will it go on a charge?

Eunorau rates the 48V 17Ah battery (816 Wh) at up to 64 km (40 mi) per charge, and up to 128 km (80 mi) combined with an optional second battery, which is not included and whose size the 2.0 page does not state. Those are manufacturer estimates. Two motors pulling at once use more energy, and range drops with hills, soft ground, high assist levels, rider and cargo weight, and cold: a lithium pack delivers less in sub-zero weather and recovers when it warms up. Eunorau quotes about 6–8 hours to charge on the 2A charger. Our battery guide →

Which frame size should I choose?

Eunorau recommends the 17″ frame for riders 160–193 cm (5′3″–6′4″) and has not published a range for the 19″. Size by saddle height: the 17″ gives 585–735 mm (23–28.9″) and the 19″ gives 635–785 mm (25–30.9″). Reach is 448 mm on the 17″ and 458 mm on the 19″. Call us with your inseam if you are between sizes.

What warranty does it come with?

Eunorau Canada’s published warranty covers the frame for 10 years and the battery, motor and electrical components for 24 months, for the original purchaser. It requires product registration and a check-up by a Eunorau specialist or dealer after the first year, excludes wear parts, and its frame warranty excludes suspension parts. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Eunorau and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →

What terrain is it built for, and can I ride it through a Canadian winter?

Eunorau lists pavement, gravel, sand, snow and uneven trails, and calls it built for “challenging terrain and all-season exploration”. Drive at both wheels is the reason: when the rear tire slips on snow or sand, the front one is still pulling. The 26×4.0 tires spread the load, and Eunorau advises adjusting speed and tire pressure for the conditions. In winter, store and charge the battery indoors at room temperature and rinse road salt off the chain and cassette after rides. Our winter e-bike guide →

Are there reviews of the Defender-S 2.0 yet?

Not yet. Eunorau Canada published the 2.0 on September 23, 2026 and it is on pre-order, so no owner has one. The reviews you will find online, including our own video, are of the original Defender-S, which is a different bike (see what changed, above). Call us at 1-866-938-7580 and we will tell you honestly whether it fits what you need.
