Velotric Nomad 2X: a Full-Suspension Fat-Tire eBike With a 750 W, 105 N·m Motor, a 54 kg Rack and Stealth Mode

The Velotric Nomad 2X is a full-suspension fat-tire e-bike for trails, gravel, sand and snow, per Velotric. A 120 mm air fork with lockout and rebound adjustment and a DNM rear air shock (up to 80 mm of rear wheel travel) carry Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires. Its 750 W rear hub motor (1,400 W peak, 105 N·m) runs from a 48 V, 16.7 Ah (801.6 Wh) battery certified to UL 2271, rated by Velotric for up to 121 km on pedal assist.

It comes with fenders and a MIK HD-compatible rear rack rated for 54 kg, and Velotric’s Stealth Mode turns the lights off and limits top speed for hunting or backcountry camping. Two frames: Step-Thru for riders 150–178 cm and High-Step for 178–196 cm.

Colours: Fig, Obsidian, Sage, Royal Blue and Multi-Terrain Camo.

⚠️ Canadian legal note: a motor over 500 W

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ends on 19 October 2026).

Velotric lists the Nomad 2X’s motor at 750 W (1,400 W peak). That is above the 500 W line, so the Nomad 2X is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. It ships set to 32 km/h in what Velotric calls Class 2, with the throttle on; Velotric lists an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h, and its Class 1/2/3 labels are the US classification system, not a Canadian category.

Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → None of the Velotric fat-tire models we sell is rated at or under 500 W; the two Velotrics that are, the Discover M and the Tempo, are commuters.

Good to know before you order

Load: Velotric’s spec table gives a 254 kg maximum load; its guide gives 440 lb (200 kg) as the total including the bike. Plan within the lower figure: 200 kg in all, or about 164 kg for rider and cargo once the bike’s 36 kg is counted. The rear rack is rated for 54 kg.

Towing: Velotric’s spec table lists a 454 kg towing capacity, but its guide says not to use the bike with standard bike trailers, stands or vehicle racks. Call us before you tow anything and we’ll confirm with Velotric what it approves.

Cleaning: Velotric’s FAQ says it can be cleaned with a pressure washer; its guide says not to wash it with water or use a pressure washer, because water can get into the electrical system. Follow the guide: wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Charging in winter: the battery won’t charge below 0 °C. Velotric’s guide says to charge it at 10–30 °C, so it comes inside to charge.

Watch Velotric’s Nomad 2X Unboxing Video

We have not filmed our own Nomad 2X review yet, so this is Velotric’s own unboxing video; the at-home assembly steps are listed under How It Arrives below.

“Nomad 2X Unboxing” (6:06, uploaded 3 June 2025), from Velotric’s own YouTube channel, not made by Zeus.

What the Combination Does for a Canadian Rider

  • Full air suspension — a 120 mm air fork with adjustable damping and air pressure, and a DNM rear shock with tunable rebound and compression damping, set by rider weight.
  • Torque for loaded climbs — 105 N·m (1,400 W peak) on 26 × 4.0″ fat tires, with Tektro hydraulic discs and a 203 mm front rotor.
  • Built to haul — a 54 kg-rated MIK HD rear rack and fenders fitted; Velotric pitches it for gear and game.
  • Stealth Mode — the lights shut off, the display dims and the speed limit adjusts; a long press on + brings the headlight back in an emergency.

Nomad 2X Sizes, Fit and Measurements

Velotric sells two frames, one size each. Its Canadian page prints the geometry as text; inches and feet are our conversion of Velotric’s metric figures.

Key Features

  • 750 W rear hub motor, 1,400 W peak, 105 N·m — Velotric’s rating; above the 500 W provincial line (see the legal note above).
  • Air fork, 120 mm — lockout, rebound adjustment and air pressure; a nutted front axle.
  • DNM rear air shock, 165 × 38 mm — up to 80 mm of rear wheel travel, tunable rebound and compression; Velotric’s guide gives air settings by rider weight.
  • 48 V, 16.7 Ah (801.6 Wh) battery — IPX7, certified to UL 2271, Samsung/LG 21700 cells certified to UL 2580, a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric says it also fits the Nomad 2.
  • Tektro hydraulic disc brakes — 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors; the levers cut the motor when you brake.
  • Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires — on aluminum rims.
  • Shimano 8-speed, 11–40T — a 48T chainring and 170 mm cranks.
  • Stealth Mode — turns off all lights and limits top speed; it can only be switched on or off while the bike is stationary.
  • SensorSwap and 3 riding modes × 5 PAS levels — switch in the app or, standing still, with a long press on the M button.
  • 3.5″ colour display — Bluetooth, adjustable angle, motor and battery temperature readouts, top-speed adjustment, app updates over the air, USB-C and a 4.7 km/h walk mode.
  • Lights — a light-sensing 500 lm headlight with an adjustable angle, and a rear light built into the rack with a brake indicator, turn signals and steady or flash modes.
  • Fenders and a MIK HD rear rack (54 kg) — fitted, with a kickstand.
  • Apple Find My — with the Velotric app.
  • UL 2849 and ISO 4210 — UL 2849 for the e-bike system, UL 2271 for the battery.

How It Arrives

In the box, per Velotric:

  • The Nomad 2X, with its battery, charger, front light and display; the rear rack comes fitted
  • The front fender, front and rear reflectors, a bell, a cable binder, the kickstand, and left and right pedals
  • The manual and quick-start guide, and a toolkit: a Phillips screwdriver, 15/8 mm and 10 mm wrenches and 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2.5 mm Allen keys

At home you fit the front wheel, the front fender, the handlebar and stem, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Above the 500 W line. Velotric lists 750 W, so it is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province (see the legal note above).
  2. Heavy. 36 kg, and Velotric does not publish a weight without the battery.
  3. Velotric’s own documents disagree on towing and washing. Both readings are in the note above; we route you to the cautious one.
  4. A tall High-Step. 780 mm stand-over, against 450 mm on the Step-Thru.

If you ride rough ground, carry gear or hunt, the Nomad 2X is the only full-suspension Velotric we sell.

Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the Nomad 2X

Where can I buy the Velotric Nomad 2X in Canada?

Here, from Zeus eBikes Canada: order the Nomad 2X online on this page. It ships from Canada with free Canada-wide shipping (no P.O. boxes or remote communities: call first), processed in 1–3 business days, then 2–7 business days in transit. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file warranty claims with Velotric for you. Questions before you order: 1-866-938-7580 or sales@zeusebikes.ca; to pay by Interac e-Transfer instead of card, email sales@ for an invoice.

What is the Nomad 2X’s weight capacity and towing capacity?

Velotric’s spec table gives a 254 kg maximum load and a 454 kg towing capacity. Its guide says the total including the bike is 440 lb (200 kg), and not to use the bike with standard bike trailers, stands or vehicle racks. Plan within 200 kg in all, and call us before you tow: we’ll confirm with Velotric what it approves. The rear rack is rated for 54 kg. E-bikes for heavy riders →

Is the Nomad 2X a mid-drive?

No. Velotric describes it as a 750 W rear hub motor, 1,400 W peak, with 105 N·m. The only mid-drive among the Velotrics we sell is the Discover M. Mid-drive vs hub motor →

How much does the Nomad 2X weigh?

36 kg, per Velotric. It does not publish a weight without the battery, or the battery’s own weight.

What is Stealth Mode?

Velotric’s setting for discreet riding, such as hunting or backcountry camping: it turns off all lights, dims the display and limits top speed. You switch it on from the display, only while the bike is stationary, and a long press on + turns the headlight on in an emergency.

How is the full air suspension adjusted?

Velotric says the 120 mm fork has adjustable damping and air pressure, and the rear shock tunable rebound and compression damping based on rider weight. Its guide charts fork air from under 50 psi (riders under 120 lb) to 100+ psi (over 220 lb), never above 163 psi, and rear-shock air from 120 psi at 150 lb to 250 psi over 330 lb (factory setting 150 psi), aiming for 25% sag when seated.

What class is the Nomad 2X, how fast does it go, and can I ride it on Canadian roads?

It ships set to 32 km/h with the throttle on, which Velotric calls Class 2; its Class 1 setting turns the throttle off, and Class 3 turns it off and raises top speed to 45 km/h. Those are US labels, not a Canadian category. Velotric lists the motor at 750 W, above that line, so the Nomad 2X is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province →

How far does the Nomad 2X go on a charge?

Velotric rates it for up to 121 km on pedal assist and 80 km on throttle, tested with an 85 kg rider using PAS 1 in Eco mode on flat roads. Range drops with load, hills, sand, wind and cold. Long-range e-bikes →

What battery does it use, and does it fit the Nomad 2?

A removable 48 V, 16.7 Ah (801.6 Wh) pack, IPX7, certified to UL 2271, on a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric says it is fully supported by the Nomad 2 after a firmware update. Charge at 10–30 °C; it won’t charge below 0 °C or above 45 °C. E-bike battery guide →

Step-Thru or High-Step: what are the dimensions?

Velotric’s figures: the Step-Thru fits riders 150–178 cm, with a 450 mm stand-over, a 1,330 mm wheelbase and 2,065 mm total length; the High-Step fits 178–196 cm, with a 780 mm stand-over, a 1,315 mm wheelbase and 2,085 mm length. See the full geometry table →

What tires does it use, and what pressure?

Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires. Velotric’s guide says to inflate them to the PSI stamped on the sidewall.

Can I carry it on a car or hitch rack, or add a child or passenger seat?

Velotric’s guide says not to use the bike with standard bike trailers, stands or vehicle racks, and it weighs 36 kg, so ask us before you choose a rack. Velotric’s Nomad 2X page and guide list no child or passenger seat; the 54 kg rack is MIK HD compatible, and the guide’s 200 kg total includes any passenger.

Is the Nomad 2X waterproof? Can I pressure-wash it?

Velotric rates the bike IPX6 and the battery IPX7. Its FAQ says you can clean it with a pressure washer; its guide says not to wash it with water or use a pressure washer, and that water damage and corrosion are not covered under warranty. Follow the guide: wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Nomad 2X or Nomad 2: what is the difference?

From Velotric’s spec tables: the 2X adds a rear air shock and a 120 mm air fork (the Nomad 2 has a 100 mm hydraulic fork and a suspension seatpost), 105 N·m against 90, an 801.6 Wh battery against 705.6, a 54 kg rack against 30, and Stealth Mode, at 36 kg against 34 kg. See the comparison →

How does the Nomad 2X arrive, and is assembly hard?

You fit the front wheel, the front fender, the handlebar and stem, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, with the toolkit in the box; the rear rack comes fitted. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs, and Velotric’s unboxing video is above. Velotric’s assembly guide →

What warranty comes with the Nomad 2X?

Velotric’s Canadian warranty policy (read 17 October 2026) covers the electrical components for 2 years: the motor, throttle, control panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, sensor, Find My and IoT modules, and charger, with the battery covered for up to 300 charge cycles in that time (Velotric says it is designed to keep up to 75% of its capacity over them). Other essential parts (suspension fork, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes except pads, bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hubs, freewheel, derailleur and shifter) and accessories are covered for 1 year. Tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, paint and graphics are not covered, and coverage is for the first owner. The same policy also says third-party components such as drivetrain, brake or suspension parts are not covered by it, and its 5-year frame line names only the T1 and T1 ST; where its wording leaves a question, we get Velotric’s answer for you before you buy. These are Velotric’s own published Canadian terms (the limited warranty printed in its guide applies to US purchases only), backed by Velotric in full. Velotric’s policy sends buyers who bought through a dealer to that dealer, which is us, and we handle the claim with Velotric for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Velotric and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →

Are there reviews of the Nomad 2X?

There are no Zeus customer reviews of the Nomad 2X yet. Velotric’s own Canadian page for it shows five video reviews from other YouTube channels: Electric Bike Report’s, Scott Hardesty’s, Mike Rochester’s, TailHappyTV’s and Ebike Escape’s (posted between 1 March and 1 June 2025). YouTube labels Scott Hardesty’s, Mike Rochester’s and Ebike Escape’s as including paid promotion; TailHappyTV’s description carries the creator’s affiliate links. Speeds and prices in reviews made outside Canada won’t match this page, which uses Velotric Canada’s figures.
