⚠️ Canadian legal note: a motor over 500 W

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ends on 19 October 2026).

Velotric lists the Nomad 2’s motor at 750 W (1,300 W peak). That is above the 500 W line, so the Nomad 2 is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. It ships set to 32 km/h in what Velotric calls Class 2, with the throttle on; Velotric lists an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h, and its Class 1/2/3 labels are the US classification system, not a Canadian category.

Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → None of the Velotric fat-tire models we sell is rated at or under 500 W; the two Velotrics that are, the Discover M and the Tempo, are commuters.

Good to know before you order

Load: Velotric’s spec table gives a 229 kg maximum load; its guide gives 440 lb (200 kg) as the total including the bike. Plan within the lower figure: 200 kg in all, or about 166 kg for rider and cargo once the bike’s 34 kg is counted. The rear rack is rated for 30 kg.

Towing: Velotric’s page says the Nomad 2 pulls up to 454 kg, but its guide says not to use the bike with standard bike trailers, stands or vehicle racks. Call us before you tow anything and we’ll confirm with Velotric what it approves.

Cleaning: Velotric’s FAQ says it can be cleaned with a pressure washer; its guide says not to wash it with water or use a pressure washer, because water can get into the electrical system. Follow the guide: wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Charging in winter: the battery won’t charge below 0 °C. Velotric’s guide says to charge it at 10–30 °C, so it comes inside to charge.

Watch Velotric’s Nomad 2 Unboxing and Assembly Video

We have not filmed our own Nomad 2 review yet, so this is Velotric’s own video on unboxing the bike and the at-home assembly steps listed under How It Arrives below.

“Nomad 2: How to unbox and assemble your Nomad 2” (6:02, uploaded 28 February 2025), from Velotric’s own YouTube channel, not made by Zeus.

What the Combination Does for a Canadian Rider

  • Fat tires and a hydraulic fork — Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires and a 100 mm RST fork with lockout, plus the suspension seatpost.
  • Ready to carry from day one — fenders, a MIK HD-compatible rear rack (30 kg) and the suspension seatpost come fitted, so there is nothing to add before the first ride.
  • Brakes for a heavy bike — Tektro hydraulic discs with a 203 mm front rotor and a 180 mm rear.
  • A display that shows motor and battery temperature — plus app connection, class setting and SensorSwap, per Velotric, with Apple Find My.

Nomad 2 Sizes, Fit and Measurements

Velotric sells the Nomad 2 in four versions: a Step-Thru and a High-Step frame, each in Regular and Large. It publishes rider heights, handlebar widths and stem lengths; it does not publish stand-over, reach or wheelbase figures for this model.

Nomad 2 sizing (Velotric)
Measurement Regular Large
Rider height (Step-Thru or High-Step) 157–180 cm (5′2″–5′11″) 178–196 cm (5′10″–6′5″)
Handlebar width 680 mm (26.8″) 700 mm (27.6″)
Stem length 60 mm (adjustable) 90 mm (adjustable)
Seatpost 30.9 mm suspension post 30.9 mm suspension post

The Step-Thru frame is the low one to step through; the High-Step has a top tube to swing a leg over. Between 178 and 180 cm either size fits; call us with your height and inseam if you are unsure.

Key Features

  • 750 W rear hub motor, 1,300 W peak, 90 N·m — Velotric’s rating; above the 500 W provincial line (see the legal note above).
  • 48 V, 14.7 Ah (705.6 Wh) removable battery — IPX7, certified to UL 2271, Samsung/LG 21700 cells certified to UL 2580, a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric says the Nomad 2X’s 801.6 Wh battery also fits it, after a firmware update.
  • RST hydraulic fork, 100 mm — with lockout; a 30.9 mm suspension seatpost.
  • Tektro hydraulic disc brakes — 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors; the levers cut the motor when you brake.
  • Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires — on aluminum rims.
  • Shimano 8-speed, 11–40T — a 48T chainring and 165 mm cranks.
  • SensorSwap and 3 riding modes × 5 PAS levels — switch between torque and cadence in the app or, standing still, with a long press on the M button.
  • 3.5″ colour display — Bluetooth, adjustable angle, motor and battery temperature readouts, app updates over the air, a USB-C port and a 4.7 km/h walk mode.
  • Lights — a light-sensing 500 lm headlight with an adjustable angle, and a rear light built into the rack with a brake indicator, turn signals and steady or flash modes.
  • Fenders, MIK HD rear rack (30 kg) and a kickstand — fitted.
  • Apple Find My — with the Velotric app.
  • UL 2849 and ISO 4210 — UL 2849 for the e-bike system, UL 2271 for the battery.

How It Arrives

In the box, per Velotric:

  • The Nomad 2, with its battery, charger, front light and display; the rear fender, rack and suspension seatpost already fitted
  • The front fender, front and rear reflectors, a bell, a cable binder, the kickstand, and left and right pedals
  • The manual and quick-start guide, and a toolkit: a Phillips screwdriver, 15/8 mm and 10 mm wrenches and 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2.5 mm Allen keys, with front-wheel cap nuts and gaskets

At home you fit the front wheel, the front fender, the handlebar and stem, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Above the 500 W line. Velotric lists 750 W, so it is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province (see the legal note above).
  2. Heavy to lift. 34 kg, and Velotric does not publish a weight without the battery.
  3. Velotric’s own documents disagree on towing and washing. Both readings are in the note above; we route you to the cautious one.
  4. Front suspension only. For an air fork and a rear shock, the Nomad 2X is full suspension.

If you want fat tires with the fenders, rack and suspension seatpost already fitted, the Nomad 2 arrives ready to carry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the Nomad 2

Where can I buy the Velotric Nomad 2 in Canada?

Here, from Zeus eBikes Canada: order the Nomad 2 online on this page. It ships from Canada with free Canada-wide shipping (no P.O. boxes or remote communities: call first), processed in 1–3 business days, then 2–7 business days in transit. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file warranty claims with Velotric for you. Questions before you order: 1-866-938-7580 or sales@zeusebikes.ca; to pay by Interac e-Transfer instead of card, email sales@ for an invoice.

What is the Nomad 2’s weight capacity and towing capacity?

Velotric’s spec table gives a 229 kg maximum load and its page says the Nomad 2 pulls up to 454 kg. Its guide says the total including the bike is 440 lb (200 kg), and not to use the bike with standard bike trailers, stands or vehicle racks. Plan within 200 kg in all, and call us before you tow: we’ll confirm with Velotric what it approves. The rear rack is rated for 30 kg. E-bikes for heavy riders →

How much does the Nomad 2 weigh?

34 kg, per Velotric. It does not publish a weight without the battery, or the battery’s own weight.

What class is the Nomad 2, how fast does it go, and can I ride it on Canadian roads?

It ships set to 32 km/h with the throttle on, which Velotric calls Class 2; its Class 1 setting turns the throttle off, and Class 3 turns it off and allows up to 45 km/h. Those are US labels, not a Canadian category. Velotric lists the motor at 750 W, above that line, so the Nomad 2 is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province →

How far does the Nomad 2 go on a charge?

Velotric rates it for up to 105 km on pedal assist and 72 km on throttle, tested with an 85 kg rider using PAS 1 in Eco mode on flat roads. To stretch it, Velotric suggests Torque mode and its recommended tire pressure. Range drops with load, hills, wind and cold. Long-range e-bikes →

What battery does it use? Can I upgrade it?

A removable 48 V, 14.7 Ah (705.6 Wh) pack, IPX7, certified to UL 2271, on a 48 V, 3 A charger. Velotric says the Nomad 2X’s larger 801.6 Wh battery is fully supported by the Nomad 2 once you update its battery, display and controller firmware in the Velotric app. Charge at 10–30 °C; it won’t charge below 0 °C or above 45 °C. E-bike battery guide →

What tire size and pressure does it use?

Kenda 26 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant tires. Velotric’s FAQ recommends 30 PSI (207 kPa) and says lighter riders can go up to 20% higher; its guide says to inflate to the PSI stamped on the sidewall.

Step-Thru or High-Step: which size fits me?

Both frames come in Regular for 157–180 cm (5′2″–5′11″) and Large for 178–196 cm (5′10″–6′5″). The Step-Thru is easier to get on and off; the High-Step has a top tube. Velotric does not publish stand-over or reach figures for this model, so call us with your height and inseam if you are between sizes.

What accessories come with it? Can I add a child or passenger seat?

Fenders, a MIK HD-compatible rear rack and a suspension seatpost come fitted, per Velotric. Velotric’s Nomad 2 page and guide list no child seat or passenger seat for it; the rack is rated for 30 kg, and the guide’s 200 kg total includes any passenger. For carrying a passenger, the GoMad has Velotric passenger kits.

Is the Nomad 2 waterproof? Can I pressure-wash it?

Velotric rates the bike IPX6 and the battery IPX7. Its FAQ says you can clean it with a pressure washer; its guide says not to wash it with water or use a pressure washer, because water can enter the electrical system, and that water damage and corrosion are not covered under warranty. Follow the guide: wipe it down with a damp cloth.

What does the display show? Does it have cruise control?

The 3.5″ colour display shows app connection, top speed, PAS mode, the class setting, motor and battery temperature and SensorSwap, per Velotric; its guide lists cruise control in the settings.

When should I use the torque or cadence sensor?

Velotric’s answer: torque for variable-speed riding and rugged terrain, cadence for relaxed, long, steady rides such as city roads. Switch in the app, or standing still with a long press on the M button.

How does the Nomad 2 arrive, and is assembly hard?

You fit the front wheel, the front fender, the handlebar and stem, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, with the toolkit in the box; the rack, rear fender and suspension seatpost come fitted. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs, and Velotric’s video is above. Velotric’s assembly guide →

Nomad 2 or Nomad 2X: what is the difference?

From Velotric’s spec tables: the 2X adds a rear air shock (80 mm of rear wheel travel) and a 120 mm air fork, 105 N·m against 90, an 801.6 Wh battery against 705.6, a 54 kg rack against 30, Stealth Mode, and 36 kg against 34 kg; the Nomad 2 has the suspension seatpost. See the comparison →

What warranty comes with the Nomad 2?

Velotric’s Canadian warranty policy (read 17 October 2026) covers the electrical components for 2 years: the motor, throttle, control panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, sensor, Find My and IoT modules, and charger, with the battery covered for up to 300 charge cycles in that time (Velotric says it is designed to keep up to 75% of its capacity over them). Other essential parts (suspension fork, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes except pads, bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hubs, freewheel, derailleur and shifter) and accessories are covered for 1 year. Tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, paint and graphics are not covered, and coverage is for the first owner. The same policy also says third-party components such as drivetrain, brake or suspension parts are not covered by it, and its 5-year frame line names only the T1 and T1 ST; where its wording leaves a question, we get Velotric’s answer for you before you buy. These are Velotric’s own published Canadian terms (the limited warranty printed in its guide applies to US purchases only), backed by Velotric in full. Velotric’s policy sends buyers who bought through a dealer to that dealer, which is us, and we handle the claim with Velotric for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Velotric and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →

Are there reviews of the Nomad 2?

There are no Zeus customer reviews of the Nomad 2 yet. Velotric’s own Canadian page for it shows five video reviews from other YouTube channels: Scott Hardesty’s, Ebike Escape’s, Electric Bike Report’s, TailHappyTV’s and Kayak Hacks Fishing’s (all posted 1 March 2025). YouTube labels Scott Hardesty’s and Ebike Escape’s as including paid promotion; TailHappyTV’s and Kayak Hacks Fishing’s descriptions carry the creator’s affiliate links. Speeds and prices in reviews made outside Canada won’t match this page, which uses Velotric Canada’s figures. Watch Velotric’s assembly video above, or call us at 1-866-938-7580 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s right for you.
