A Low Step-Through on 26×4″ Tires, With a Sensor You Can Switch. This Is Taubik’s Tour S.

This listing is Taubik’s Tour S, the Tour Taubik sells now. Taubik lists a 500W Bafang rear hub with 80 Nm, a 48V Samsung battery certified, in Taubik’s words, “in accordance with UL 2271”, 26×4.0″ Kenda Juggernaut tires and an RST Guide fork with 75 mm of travel, on a low step-through frame with full front and rear fenders and a rear rack with a built-in brake light.

The headline change from the earlier Tour is the sensor. Taubik’s page describes a dual torque/cadence sensor: cadence mode for relaxed cruising, torque mode for a more natural feel, switched with a button. A Promax MA-579 adjustable stem lets you raise and bring the bars closer for a more upright position. Taubik’s manual and brochure add a thumb throttle, and the gearing is an 8-speed Shimano.

Taubik’s own documents also set its limits: a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page), and a manual written for 0 °C to 40 °C even though the brochure says “year-round”. Both are covered below, with both of Taubik’s figures, so you can decide before you order.

ℹ️ Which Tour is this?

Taubik still shows its 2024 Tour on its own page: cadence sensor, Acera RD-M360 derailleur, RST front fork, British Racing Green / Taupe / Metallic Blue. The bike on this listing is the Tour S: dual torque/cadence sensor, Acera RD-M3020, RST Guide 75 mm fork, fenders, Burnt Copper / Matte Black / Deep Teal on Taubik’s page. If anything you read elsewhere about the “Taubik Tour” does not match this page, ask us which bike it describes.

What the Combination Does for an Everyday Rider

  • Easy on, easy off. Taubik says the low step-through frame “makes getting on and off the bike effortless”, which matters most when you stop on uneven ground or with a loaded rack.
  • Choose how the motor feels. Cadence mode gives steady help as soon as the cranks turn; torque mode follows how hard you press. The manual lists five assist levels at 12, 16, 21, 26 and 32 km/h, a walk mode, and motor cut-off when you brake. Motor and sensor types, explained →
  • Wide tires on paved and packed paths. Taubik pitches the Tour S for “campground roads, paved trails, or packed gravel”; the 26×4.0″ Kenda tires spread the load, and the manual sets their pressure at 5–30 psi. Fat tire e-bikes in Canada →
  • Clean and seen. Full-coverage fenders keep water and grit off you, and the brake light sits up on the rack.

Key Features

  • 500W Bafang rear hub, 80 Nm — Taubik’s spec table reads “500W Bafang (80 NM)”; the manual lists a “BAFANG 48V500W HUB” in the rear wheel.
  • Dual torque/cadence sensor — Per Taubik’s page and brochure, switchable with a button; the manual’s spec table lists a torque sensor.
  • Thumb throttle — Ride without pedalling up to 32 km/h, per the manual. Pedal assist vs throttle →
  • 48V Samsung battery — 15Ah on Taubik’s page and in the manual, 14.7Ah in the brochure (21700 cells, with a battery management system). Removable with a key; charges in 6–8 hours on the 48V 3A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
  • Kenda Juggernaut 26×4.0″ tires — On 26″ double-walled spoked rims.
  • RST Guide fork, 75 mm travel — Front suspension; the frame is 6061 aluminum, 17.5″.
  • Shimano 8-speed — Acera RD-M3020 derailleur and CS-HG200-8 cassette on Taubik’s page (the manual says “8-speed Acera”); the brochure says Shimano Altus 8-speed with a trigger shifter.
  • Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
  • Fenders, rack and lights — Full front and rear fenders; rear rack rated 25 kg with a built-in brake light; headlight; kickstand.
  • Promax MA-579 adjustable stem — Fine-tune bar height and reach for an upright position.
  • Colour LCD — Battery level, speed, real-time motor power, assist level and headlight status.

How It Arrives

Taubik’s Tour S manual says the bike is assembled, inspected and tuned at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled:

  • Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
  • Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
  • The battery, which locks to the frame with a key
  • Taubik’s manual for this model: Tour S manual (PDF) →

The manual recommends two people for assembly and lists the tightening torques, including 6 N·m for the handlebar bolt, 10 for the stem and fork bolt, 15 for the saddle, 25 for the front wheel, 55–60 for the rear wheel and 8 for the rack. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Its manual draws the line at 0 °C. The brochure says year-round; the manual says not below 0 °C, and the warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to snow, storage in extreme cold and salt corrosion. We print both because Taubik says both. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it.
  2. Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). The rack’s own limit is 25 kg.
  3. It is heavy for a step-through. 77 lb on Taubik’s page, 35.5 kg in the manual. The low frame helps you get on; it does not help you lift it onto a car rack or up stairs.
  4. Taubik’s documents disagree on details. Battery 15Ah (page, manual) or 14.7Ah (brochure); Acera (page, manual) or Altus (brochure); dual sensor (page, brochure) or torque sensor (manual); frame size 17.5″ in the spec table or 17.4″ (44 cm) on the dimension chart; wheel size 26″ × 4″ in the spec table or 20″ × 4″ on the dimension chart. We show both where they differ.
  5. Paths and roads, not rough trails. The manual says it is designed “to be used on a regular road by a single person” and that extreme off-road use, jumping or excessive loads will damage it.

Inside those limits it is a comfortable, well-equipped step-through fat bike: a switchable sensor, a throttle, fenders, a lit rack and an adjustable stem, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Who Is the Tour S For?

  • Riders who want to step through, not over — A low frame, an upright position and an adjustable stem. E-bikes for seniors →
  • Errand and path riders — Fenders, a lit rack for up to 25 kg and wide tires for paved and packed paths.
  • Riders who are not sure which sensor they like — Try cadence mode and torque mode on the same bike.
  • Buyers who want a Canadian-owned brand — Taubik calls itself “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. All Taubik e-bikes →

Who it’s NOT for: riders who need a bike for use below freezing before checking with us or Taubik (the manual’s 0 °C line; the Westridge 4T’s manual lists −20 °C). Riders who, with gear, come to more than 120 kg. Anyone who lifts a bike often (77 lb). Riders who want a lighter step-through with narrower tires (see the Blackburn 275T). Rough-trail riders (the manual rules out extreme off-road use).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the Tour S or the older Tour?

It is the Tour S, the Tour Taubik sells now, in Burnt Copper, Matte Black or Deep Teal on Taubik’s page. Taubik still shows its 2024 Tour on a separate page: that bike lists a cadence sensor and British Racing Green, Taupe and Metallic Blue. The Tour S lists a torque and cadence sensor, a Shimano Acera 8-speed derailleur and an RST Guide fork with 75 mm of travel.

Does the Tour S have a torque sensor and a throttle?

Taubik’s page and brochure describe a dual torque/cadence sensor: cadence mode for relaxed cruising, torque mode for a feel closer to ordinary cycling, switched with a button. The manual’s spec table lists a torque sensor. The manual and brochure both show a thumb throttle, which Taubik says you can use instead of pedalling up to the bike’s 32 km/h maximum. Pedal assist vs throttle, explained →

Will the Tour S fit me?

Taubik does not publish a rider-height range or a seat-height range for the Tour S. Its dimension chart gives a 17.4″ (44 cm) frame (17.5″ in its spec table), a stack of 26.3″ (668 mm), a reach of 16.8″ (427 mm; printed “16 8” on the chart), a 48.6″ (1,235 mm) wheelbase and a bottom-bracket height of 12.2″ (310 mm), and Taubik says its low step-through frame “makes getting on and off easy and natural”. Call us at 1-866-938-7580 with your height and inseam and we will check them against Taubik’s figures.

Is the Tour S legal on Canadian roads?

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). The Tour S has a 500W motor, a 32 km/h maximum in Taubik’s spec table and manual, and working pedals. Throttle rules differ by province (British Columbia, for one, sets conditions on how a throttle engages on its standard e-bikes), so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

How far does it go on a charge?

Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. The Tour S manual gives 50–95 km with pedal assist and 30–35 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was measured with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures. A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 48V 3A charger. Our e-bike battery guide →

Can I ride it in winter?

Taubik says two things. Its brochure calls it “the perfect go-to e-bike for year-round commuting in any season”. Its manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than 0°C or above ambient temperatures of 40°C”, and to charge the battery only between 0 °C and 40 °C. Taubik’s warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it. Among Taubik bikes we sell, the Westridge 4T’s manual is the one that lists use down to −20 °C. Our winter e-bike guide →

What is its weight limit, and how heavy is it?

Taubik gives two load figures: 286 lb weight capacity on its page and a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb) in the manual. Plan around the lower one. The rear rack is rated for 25 kg and is not for a trailer or a child seat. The bike itself is 77 lb on Taubik’s page and brochure and 35.5 kg (about 78 lb) net in the manual. E-bikes for heavier riders →

Where are Taubik bikes made?

Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us. All Taubik e-bikes at Zeus →

Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?

Taubik posts the Tour S manual in English and French: Tour S manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar loosened or removed, and the charger, pedals and small parts in the carton. It recommends two people for assembly. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

What warranty does it come with?

Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
