⚠️ Canadian legal note: a motor over 500 W
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ends on 19 October 2026).
Velotric lists the GoMad’s motor at 750 W (1,300 W peak). That is above the 500 W line, so the GoMad is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. It ships set to 32 km/h with an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h. Velotric’s app also offers a Custom Mode that, in Velotric’s words, unlocks Class 3 throttle speeds up to 45 km/h where permitted; its Class 1/2/3 labels are the US classification system, not a Canadian category.
Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → None of the Velotric cargo or fat-tire models we sell is rated at or under 500 W; the two that are, the Discover M and the Tempo, are commuters.
Good to know before you order
Load: Velotric’s FAQ says the 227 kg total includes the bike, rider, cargo and any passenger; its guide gives 440 lb (200 kg) as the total including the bike. Plan within the lower figure: 200 kg in all, or about 165 kg for riders and cargo once the bike’s 35 kg is counted. The rear rack alone is rated for 80 kg.
Passengers: Velotric’s guide allows them only with its GoMad Passenger Kit or Young Passenger Kit, both optional extras. To carry children it says to use the Young Passenger Kit and swap the side kickstand for a centre kickstand, and it says Velotric e-bikes are not intended for riders under 16. Each province sets its own passenger rules: check yours.
In the box: the rear rack bag (Velotric’s Range Extender Bag), a kickstand, an NFC key card and a toolkit; fenders come with it. A second battery is sold separately.
Charging in winter: the battery won’t charge below 0 °C. Velotric’s guide says to charge it at 10–30 °C, so it comes inside to charge.
Watch Velotric’s GoMad Unboxing and Assembly Video
We have not filmed our own GoMad review yet, so this is Velotric’s own video on unboxing the bike and the at-home assembly steps listed under How It Arrives below.
“GoMad: How to unbox and assemble your GoMad” (4:14, uploaded 31 March 2026), from Velotric’s own YouTube channel, not made by Zeus.
What the Combination Does for a Canadian Rider
- Cargo and a passenger on a compact frame — 20″ wheels, a rear rack built into the frame and rated for 80 kg, MIK HD compatible, and passenger kits from Velotric.
- Range for long errand days — up to 121 km on pedal assist, and up to 241 km with a second battery (sold separately), per Velotric.
- Brakes sized for a load — Tektro hydraulic discs with a 203 mm front rotor; Velotric says the front brake does more of the work as weight shifts forward under braking.
- One size for the household — riders from 152 to 191 cm, through the quill stem’s 140 mm of height adjustment, the seatpost and the handlebar angle.
GoMad Sizes, Fit and Measurements
The GoMad comes in one size. The rider-height range and geometry are Velotric’s, from its Canadian page; inches and feet are our conversion of Velotric’s metric figures.
| Measurement | One size |
|---|---|
| Rider height | 152–191 cm (5′0″–6′3″) |
| Stand-over height | 500 mm (19.7″) |
| Saddle height | 720–930 mm (28.3–36.6″) |
| Reach | 420 mm (16.5″) |
| Handlebar height | 1,040–1,180 mm (40.9–46.5″) (adjustable stem) |
| Wheelbase | 1,171 mm (46.1″) |
| Total length | 1,811 mm (71.3″) |
| Handlebar | BMX style, 700 mm (27.6″) wide; crossbar 25.4 mm for mounts |
| Stem | Quill, 30 mm long, 140 mm vertical adjustment |
Velotric fits the range through three adjustment points: the seatpost height, the stem height and the handlebar angle. Riding near either end of the range? Call us with your height and inseam.

- 48 V, 16.7 Ah (801.6 Wh) battery — IPX7, certified to UL 2271, Samsung/LG 21700 cells certified to UL 2580, a 48 V, 3 A charger; a second battery is sold separately.
- Integrated MIK HD rear rack, 80 kg — built into the frame, with the rear light built into the rack and the rear rack bag included.
- RST hydraulic fork, 100 mm — with lockout and 36 mm inner tubes; a NOVATEC front hub with a 15 × 135 mm thru-axle.
- Tektro hydraulic disc brakes — a 203 mm front rotor and a 180 mm rear; the levers cut the motor when you brake.
- Kenda 20 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant fat tires — on aluminum rims.

- 3.5″ colour display — Bluetooth and NFC, an adjustable angle, app updates over the air, a USB-C port, and a 4.7 km/h walk mode with anti-rollback support on hills.
- BMX-style 700 mm handlebar — its 25.4 mm crossbar takes most phone mounts and action cameras, per Velotric.
- Lights and fenders — a 500 lm headlight with an adjustable angle, a rear light with brake indicator, turn signals and steady or flash modes, and full-coverage fenders.
- Apple Find My, Google Find Hub and NFC unlock — with the Velotric app.
- UL 2849 and ISO 4210 — UL 2849 for the e-bike system, UL 2271 for the battery; IPX6.
How It Arrives
Velotric’s guide says the bike ships partially assembled. In the box, per Velotric:
- The GoMad, with its battery, charger, front light and display
- The rear rack bag, an NFC key card, the kickstand, a cable binder and a stem bolt cover
- A front reflector, a bell, and left and right pedals
- The manual and app guide, and a toolkit: a Phillips screwdriver, 15/8 mm and 10 mm wrenches and 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2.5 mm Allen keys
At home you fit the handlebar, the front wheel, the front fender, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery; the guide includes a table of recommended torque values. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- Above the 500 W line. Velotric lists 750 W, so it is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province (see the legal note above).
- Heavy to lift. 35 kg, or 30.4 kg with the battery out.
- The 227 kg figure includes the bike. Velotric’s FAQ says so, and its guide gives 200 kg in all.
- Passenger kits cost extra. Velotric allows passengers only with its Passenger Kit or Young Passenger Kit.
If your riding is errands, cargo and a passenger rather than distance or speed, the GoMad puts an 80 kg rack and passenger kits on a compact 20″ frame.

Frequently Asked Questions
What riders ask about the GoMad
Where can I buy the Velotric GoMad in Canada?
Here, from Zeus eBikes Canada: order the GoMad online on this page. It ships from Canada with free Canada-wide shipping (no P.O. boxes or remote communities: call first), processed in 1–3 business days, then 2–7 business days in transit. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file warranty claims with Velotric for you. Questions before you order: 1-866-938-7580 or sales@zeusebikes.ca; to pay by Interac e-Transfer instead of card, email sales@ for an invoice.
What is the load capacity of the GoMad? Can it carry 500 lb?
Velotric lists 227 kg (500 lb) of total capacity, and its FAQ says that figure includes the bike, rider, cargo and any passenger. Its guide gives 440 lb (200 kg) as the total including the bike. Plan within the lower figure: about 165 kg for riders and cargo once the bike’s 35 kg is counted. The rear rack is rated for 80 kg. E-bikes for heavy riders →
Can the GoMad carry a passenger or a child?
With Velotric’s accessories, yes. Its guide allows passengers only with the GoMad Passenger Kit (passenger handlebar, foot pegs, seat pad) or the Young Passenger Kit (handrail, wheel guards, dual kickstand, foot pegs, seat pad). To carry children it says to use the Young Passenger Kit and swap the side kickstand for a centre kickstand; passengers must hold on, wear helmets and stay centred on the seat. Velotric says its e-bikes are not intended for riders under 16. The rack is MIK HD compatible. Each province sets its own passenger rules. Canadian e-bike laws by province →
What accessories come with the GoMad?
The rear rack bag (Velotric’s Range Extender Bag) comes standard, and the fenders come with it. Velotric sells the Passenger Kit, the Young Passenger Kit, a front rack and a pannier support bar separately.
How far does the GoMad go? Can it take two batteries?
Velotric rates it for up to 121 km on pedal assist and 80 km on throttle on one battery. A second battery, sold separately, takes it to about 241 km under Velotric’s test conditions. Range drops with load, hills, wind and cold. Long-range e-bikes →
How much does the GoMad weigh, and what rider height does it fit?
35 kg, or 30.4 kg with the battery out. It comes in one size for riders 152–191 cm (5′0″–6′3″), adjusted through the seatpost height, the quill stem’s height and the handlebar angle.
What is the GoMad’s top speed, and can I ride it on Canadian roads?
It ships set to 32 km/h, and Velotric lists an adjustable range of 19–45 km/h; its Custom Mode, enabled in the Velotric app, can unlock Class 3 throttle speeds up to 45 km/h where permitted. It has a removable throttle: Velotric’s spec table calls it a trigger, and its guide’s safety text a thumb throttle. Velotric labels the settings Class 1/2/3; those are US labels, not a Canadian category. Velotric lists the motor at 750 W, above that line, so the GoMad is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province →
What tire size does it use?
Kenda 20 × 4.0″ puncture-resistant fat tires. Velotric publishes no single pressure: its guide says to check by hand and match the PSI printed on the sidewall.
What seatpost diameter does it take?
30.9 mm, with a quick-release clamp, per Velotric.
Why a 203 mm front rotor and a 180 mm rear?
Velotric’s answer: under braking the rider’s weight shifts forward and the front brake does more of the work, so the larger 203 mm front rotor adds stopping power and heat dissipation; it says a bigger rear rotor could make the bike less stable under deceleration. Both are Tektro hydraulic discs.
Can I mount accessories on the BMX-style handlebar?
Yes. Velotric says the crossbar is 25.4 mm in diameter, a common size that takes most phone mounts and action cameras.
How does the GoMad arrive, and is assembly hard?
Velotric says it ships partially assembled, with a toolkit. You fit the handlebar, the front wheel, the front fender, the front light and display, the bell and reflectors, and the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery; the guide includes a table of recommended torque values. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs, and Velotric’s video is above. Velotric’s assembly and operation guide →
What warranty comes with the GoMad, and who handles repairs?
Velotric’s Canadian warranty policy (read 17 October 2026) covers the electrical components for 2 years: the motor, throttle, control panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, sensor, Find My and IoT modules, and charger, with the battery covered for up to 300 charge cycles in that time (Velotric says it is designed to keep up to 75% of its capacity over them). Other essential parts (suspension fork, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes except pads, bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hubs, freewheel, derailleur and shifter) and accessories are covered for 1 year. Tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, paint and graphics are not covered, and coverage is for the first owner. The same policy also says third-party components such as drivetrain, brake or suspension parts are not covered by it, and its 5-year frame line names only the T1 and T1 ST; where its wording leaves a question, we get Velotric’s answer for you before you buy. These are Velotric’s own published Canadian terms (the limited warranty printed in its guide applies to US purchases only), backed by Velotric in full. Velotric says bikes bought outside velotric.ca are serviced through the original dealer, which is us, and we handle the claim with Velotric for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Velotric and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
