Addmotor CityPro E-43 Electric Commuter Bike
Addmotor CityPro E-43 Electric Commuter Bike: 500 W Rear Hub, Tektro Hydraulic Brakes and Built-In Turn Signals
The Addmotor CityPro E-43 is a 26-inch electric commuter bike for paved city riding. Addmotor rates its rear hub motor at 500 W and says it ramps past 907 W at peak, with assist up to 32 km/h, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, a seven-speed Shimano drivetrain and a taillight with turn signals, a brake light and a hazard light. Addmotor sells it in Canada in one colour, Rose Gold.
Two of Addmotor’s figures need a closer look. The spec table on its Canadian page lists a 48 V 20 Ah battery, while the header of the same page shows 48 V 15 Ah; Addmotor’s E-43 pages listed 20 Ah (960 Wh) from 2022 to 2024, and its US page listed 15 Ah in January 2026. The 201 km range is the 20 Ah pack on pedal-assist level 1 at about 13 km/h; for the 15 Ah pack, Addmotor’s US page gave 95 miles (153 km). Call us and we will confirm with Addmotor which pack ships.
The rest of the bike is set up for a comfortable daily commute: an adjustable stem for an upright position, a padded saddle with a lift handle, a 100 mm oil-spring fork, Kenda GIGAS puncture-resistant 26 × 2.3-inch tires and a low, sloping top tube with a 21.7-inch (55 cm) standover. It weighs 29 kg with the battery, and Addmotor sizes it for riders from 5′4″ to 5′11″ (163–180 cm).

⚠️ Canadian rules: check your province before riding on public roads
Addmotor rates the CityPro E-43’s motor at 500 W (907 W peak) and lists a 32 km/h top assisted speed, with pedals and a half-twist throttle. Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h).
Rider age, helmet and throttle rules also differ by province, so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Canadian e-bike laws, province by province → · Rated versus peak watts, explained →

Key Features
- 500 W rear hub, 907 W peak — Addmotor describes a 48 V geared, brushless rear hub that can “ramp up to over 907 peak watts” to help you climb hills and accelerate. It does not publish a torque figure. A hub drive leaves the chain and gears to do only the pedalling, and seven assist levels plus a throttle let you pick how much help you get.
- Samsung 21700 battery cells — Addmotor says the pack uses 21700 cells of 5,000 mAh with a 3C maximum discharge, against 2,600 mAh and 2C for the Samsung 18650 cell it compares them with. Its spec table calls the battery “UL-certified” without naming the standard; its Canadian e-bike collection page says its e-bikes use “UL 2271 certified batteries made with SAMSUNG cells”. Addmotor rates its batteries for about 800 charging cycles.
- Tektro hydraulic disc brakes — hydraulic discs on both wheels. Addmotor’s claim is strong, consistent braking “especially in wet or muddy conditions”, which is the weather a spring or fall commute in Canada brings.
- EB 2.0 light system with turn signals — the taillight carries a running light, left and right turn signals, a hazard (“danger”) light, a flasher and a brake light, and the display shows the turn signals. Addmotor shaped the control buttons so you can tell them apart by touch, and calls them patented. The headlight is rated at 40 lumens, with a 200 m visible distance and a 180° side view.
- 5-inch LCD display and seven assist levels — the Addmotor range chart in this listing’s photos lists pedal-assist levels 1 to 7, from about 13 km/h on level 1 to 32 km/h on level 7, plus a variable-speed half-twist throttle.
- Shimano 7-speed with a KMC stainless chain — a simple seven-speed drivetrain, with a stainless chain that suits wet and salty roads.
- 100 mm oil-spring fork and Kenda GIGAS 26 × 2.3-inch tires — puncture-resistant tires with what Addmotor calls a low-resistance design, and a fork that takes the edge off potholes and curb cuts.
- Comfort fittings — an adjustable stem for “a comfortable upright position”, and a padded saddle with a small handle that, in Addmotor’s words, “makes it easier to lift and move” the bike.
- 6061 aluminium frame, double-wall rims, 12-gauge spokes — Addmotor’s polygon-tube aluminium frame and sturdy wheels for daily use.
CityPro E-43 Size, Fit and Dimensions
Addmotor offers the CityPro E-43 in one frame size, for riders from 5′4″ to 5′11″ (163–180 cm). Its dimensions chart and Size & Fit table give these measurements in inches; the metric figures are our conversions.

| Measurement | Addmotor (inches) | Metric (our conversion) |
|---|---|---|
| Rider height | 5′4″–5′11″ | 163–180 cm |
| Standover height | 21.7″ | 55 cm (551 mm) |
| Saddle height, lowest | 32.2″ | 82 cm (818 mm) |
| Saddle height, highest | 40.5″ | 103 cm (1,029 mm) |
| Handlebar height | 40.5″ | 103 cm (1,029 mm) |
| Reach | 7.8″ | 20 cm (198 mm) |
| Wheelbase | 44″ | 112 cm (1,118 mm) |
| Total length | 70″ | 178 cm (1,778 mm) |
| Total width | 29″ | 74 cm (737 mm) |
| Tires | 26 × 2.3″ | 26-inch wheels |
- Standover is the height of the top tube where you straddle the bike. Addmotor called the E-43 its low-step CityPro (the E-53 was the high-step model), and an owner of both bought the E-43 for their wife because its top bar is lower.
- Saddle height runs from 32.2 to 40.5 inches above the ground at the lowest and highest seatpost settings, and the adjustable stem changes how upright you sit.
- Getting on and off. One owner with an arthritic hip passed their E-43 to their husband because getting on and off was no longer safe for them. If mounting is a concern, a three-wheeler may suit you better: see our electric trikes →
- Not sure? Call 1-866-938-7580 with your height and inseam, and we will tell you honestly whether the E-43 fits.
How It Arrives
Addmotor ships each bike with a tool kit, a manual, a pair of pedals, the battery and the charger. Final assembly includes fitting the front wheel, which Addmotor demonstrates in the 84-second video below. The bike in Addmotor’s Canada-version photo and dimensions chart wears a rear rack and front and rear fenders, and owners say both come with it; Addmotor’s 2022 page rated the rack at 25 kg (55 lb).
“FRONT WHEEL INSTALLATION Fit for Addmotor M-81, E-43, E-53 E-bikes” (1:24, uploaded 10 May 2023), from Addmotor’s own YouTube channel, not made by Zeus.
- Check it the day it arrives. Addmotor asks for shipping damage, including missing pieces, to be reported within 5 days of receiving the bike, with dated photos of the damaged part and the box, and for visible damage to be noted on the carrier’s bill of lading before you sign. Keep the packaging until the inspection is finished, and tell us right away: we file it with Addmotor.
- Owners’ experience. Owners describe the assembly as straightforward. A few reported knocks in transit (a derailleur out of alignment, a damaged rear rack) that a quick adjustment or a replacement part fixed.
- Help with the build. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- The battery is printed two ways. Addmotor’s Canadian spec table and e-bike collection page say 48 V 20 Ah; the header of the product page says 48 V 15 Ah, which is what Addmotor’s US page listed in January 2026 after its earlier pages had shown 20 Ah. That is 960 versus about 720 Wh (our arithmetic for 15 Ah), and a 2-year versus 18-month battery warranty under Addmotor’s terms. Call us before you order and we will confirm with Addmotor which pack ships.
- 201 km is a slow-speed, 20 Ah figure. The Addmotor range-test chart in this listing’s photos, which matches the 20 Ah pack’s 125-mile claim, runs from 201 km or more on PAS 1 at about 13 km/h to 113 km or more on PAS 7 at 32 km/h, with 145 km or more on the throttle alone at about 19 km/h. For the 15 Ah pack, Addmotor’s US page gave 95 miles (153 km) on PAS 1. One owner of a 2022 bike who mixed the throttle with PAS 3 and 4 reported about 129 km (80 miles). Addmotor itself lists rider and cargo weight, terrain, tire pressure, throttle use, battery charge, ambient temperature and wind as factors, so plan a winter commute with range to spare.
- Built for city hills, not mountain climbs. Addmotor lists a speed sensor (it lists no torque sensor) and publishes no torque figure, and the drivetrain has seven gears. Owners call it strong on ordinary hills, while one found that steep hills still needed pedalling effort and another wished it had more gears. For a daily steep climb, see our best e-bikes for hills →
- One frame size. Addmotor sizes the E-43 for 5′4″ to 5′11″. Riders outside that range should start with our 500 W collection →
If your riding is a paved commute or errands and you are within that height range, the CityPro E-43 puts hydraulic brakes, a full light system with turn signals and a Samsung-cell battery on a 29 kg bike, with Addmotor’s warranty behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What riders ask about the CityPro E-43
Is the Addmotor CityPro E-43 a good e-bike? What do owners say?
In 22 owner reviews of the E-43 posted between June 2022 and October 2024, owners single out the brakes, the turn-signal and brake lights, the comfort and the battery on short commutes (a Regina owner’s 12 km round-trip commute never took the gauge off full). The caveats: steep hills still needed pedalling effort for one owner, another wished for more gears, and a few bikes took knocks in transit that were fixed. No Zeus customer has reviewed the E-43 on this page yet; call 1-866-938-7580 and we will tell you honestly whether it suits how you ride.
How far does the CityPro E-43 go on one charge?
Addmotor’s Canadian page says 201 km (125 miles) on pedal-assist level 1, its figure for the 20 Ah pack. The range-test chart in this listing’s photos shows the spread for that pack: 201 km or more on PAS 1 at about 13 km/h, 113 km or more on PAS 7 at 32 km/h, and 145 km or more on the throttle alone at about 19 km/h. For the 15 Ah pack, Addmotor’s US page gave 95 miles (153 km) on PAS 1. One owner of a 2022 bike who mixed the throttle with PAS 3 and 4 reported about 129 km (80 miles). Rider and cargo weight, terrain, tire pressure, throttle use, battery charge, ambient temperature and wind all change the result, Addmotor notes.
Can the CityPro E-43 climb hills?
Addmotor says the 500 W motor ramps past 907 W at peak to help you climb hills and accelerate, and you have seven Shimano gears to work with. Addmotor does not publish a torque figure. One 200 lb owner wrote that it gives good power on the hills of a daily commute, while another found that steep hills still needed pedalling effort. Best e-bikes for hills in Canada →
What is the difference between the Addmotor CityPro E-43 and E-53?
Addmotor’s own 2022 sizing chart split the CityPro line in two: the E-43 as the low-step model for riders 5′4″–5′8″, and the E-53 as the high-step model for 5′7″–6′1″. They share a battery: Addmotor lists its replacement 20 Ah pack “For CITYPRO (E-43 & E-53)”, and an owner of both bought the E-43 for their wife because its top bar is lower. In Canada, Addmotor’s current e-bike line-up lists only the E-43 (Canada Version), now sized for 5′4″–5′11″, and that is the CityPro we sell.
How do the CityPro E-43’s lights and turn signals work?
Addmotor’s EB 2.0 light system puts left and right turn signals, a brake light, a hazard light and a flasher in the taillight, with the turn signals shown on the display, and the control buttons are shaped so you can tell them apart by touch. The headlight is rated at 40 lumens with a 200 m visible distance and a 180° side view; if you ride unlit paths at night, a brighter headlight is worth adding.
How does the CityPro E-43 arrive, and is assembly hard?
It ships in a box with Addmotor’s tool kit, a manual, a pair of pedals, the battery and the charger. Final assembly includes fitting the front wheel, which Addmotor shows in its 84-second video on this page, and owners describe the assembly as straightforward. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video, and Addmotor asks for any shipping damage to be reported within 5 days of delivery, with photos.
How fast does the CityPro E-43 go?
Addmotor lists a top assisted speed of 32 km/h (20 mph), with the motor rated at 500 W. The throttle and the seven assist levels let you ride slower: the Addmotor range chart in this listing’s photos pairs PAS 1 with about 13 km/h and PAS 7 with 32 km/h.
Can I buy the Addmotor CityPro E-43 in Canada?
Yes. Zeus eBikes sells it online with free shipping to all 10 provinces, and it ships from Canada: Addmotor dispatches Canadian orders from its warehouse in Aurora, Ontario. Rose Gold is the colour Addmotor sells in Canada. Questions before you order? Call 1-866-938-7580: real people answer.
Will the CityPro E-43 fit me?
Addmotor sizes it for riders from 5′4″ to 5′11″ (163–180 cm). The standover is 21.7 inches (55 cm), the saddle height runs from 32.2 to 40.5 inches (82–103 cm) above the ground, and the stem adjusts for an upright position; the full dimensions chart is on this page. If you are near either end of the range, or getting on and off is a concern, call us with your height and inseam before you order.

Can I ride the CityPro E-43 on Canadian roads?
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Addmotor rates the E-43’s motor at 500 W (907 W peak) with a 32 km/h top assisted speed. Rider age, helmet and throttle rules differ by province, so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Canadian e-bike laws →
Does the CityPro E-43 have a 15 Ah or a 20 Ah battery?
Addmotor’s Canadian pages print both: 48 V 20 Ah “UL-certified” in the product spec table and in its e-bike collection copy, 48 V 15 Ah in the header of the product page. Addmotor’s E-43 pages listed 20 Ah (960 Wh) from 2022 to 2024; its US page listed 15 Ah, with 95 miles on PAS 1, in January 2026. The difference matters for capacity (960 versus about 720 Wh), for range, and for the battery warranty (2 years versus 18 months). Call 1-866-938-7580 before you order and we will confirm with Addmotor which pack ships.
What warranty comes with the CityPro E-43?
Addmotor’s warranty, backed by Addmotor in full: 2 years on the frame and motor, 2 years on a 20 Ah battery (18 months on a 15 Ah pack), and 1 year on the fork, stem, handlebar, headset, seat post, lights, bottom bracket, rims, wheel hubs, derailleur, throttle, wiring harness, controller and display. Wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and cables are not covered. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file and follow every claim for you.
How long does shipping take, and where do you deliver?
Shipping is free to all 10 provinces. We process your order within 1–3 business days; Addmotor’s Canadian shipping guide says an in-stock bike leaves its Aurora, Ontario warehouse within 2–10 business days of order confirmation, and transit depends on your distance from Aurora. An adult 18 or older signs for the delivery. Addmotor does not ship to Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, and we do not ship to P.O. boxes.
Can I ride and charge the CityPro E-43 in a Canadian winter?
Addmotor’s warranty excludes battery damage from improper storage and extreme temperatures, and its performance note lists ambient temperature among the things that change range. Store and charge the battery indoors, and plan winter commutes with range to spare. The Kenda GIGAS tires are puncture-resistant commuter tires, not studded winter tires. Winter e-bikes in Canada →
How much does the CityPro E-43 weigh, and how much can it carry?
Addmotor lists 29 kg (64 lb) with the battery. It writes the payload as “250+50 LBS / 113+23 KG” and shows 113 kg in the page header; if you plan to ride near that limit with cargo, ask us first.
