Addmotor Grandtan X Full-Suspension Electric Trike
Addmotor Grandtan X: a Full-Suspension Fat-Tire Electric Trike With an 80 mm Fork, a Rear Shock and a 44.5 cm Step-Through
The Addmotor Grandtan X is a full-suspension, fat-tire electric trike: an 80 mm oil-spring fork up front and a spring shock absorber at the rear, rolling on a 24 × 4.0″ front tire and two 20 × 4.0″ rear tires. A rear-mounted motor (90 N·m, 1,100 W peak on Addmotor Canada’s page) runs from a 48 V, 20 Ah Samsung battery (960 Wh, UL 2271), with a torque sensor, a right-hand half-twist throttle, a rear differential and a parking brake.
It is a full-suspension Grandtan. The Grandtan II (M-340) we also sell has the same 44.5 cm (17.5″) step-over, tire sizes, backrest saddle and wooden footrest; the X adds the rear shock, for 9 kg more (58 kg against 49 kg). Addmotor pitches it “from forest trails to paved paths”.
Addmotor sizes it for riders from 157 to 193 cm (5′2″–6′4″), in two colours: Neptune Blue and Army Green.

*Addmotor Canada prints no rated (continuous) motor wattage; its US store lists its Grandtan X at 750 W with a 1,400 W peak, a different peak from Canada’s 1,100 W. Load: Addmotor’s header badge reads 127 + 36 kg; its spec table says 172 kg (380 lb) and its FAQ “up to 127 kg”. Range: 137 km is on pedal-assist level 1; throttle riding and hills bring it toward 64 km. All figures: Addmotor Canada, read 17 October 2026.
⚠️ Canadian legal note: the motor rating
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h).
Addmotor Canada lists the Grandtan X with a rear-mounted motor and a 1,100 W peak, and prints no rated (continuous) wattage. Addmotor’s US store lists its Grandtan X at 750 W rated, 1,400 W peak; the two peak figures differ, so the US rating may not describe the Canadian unit. A 750 W motor is above the 500 W line, and a trike with one is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Addmotor lists a 32 km/h top speed. If you plan to ride on public roads, call us before you order.
Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → For a motor under the 500 W line, see our 500 W collection →
Good to know before you order
Baskets: Addmotor photographs the trike with a front basket and a rear basket (with a bag in its outdoor photos). Its page calls the rear basket and waterproof bag optional, and its spec table lists neither basket (it lists aluminium fenders, front and rear, as included). If the baskets matter to you, call us before you order.
Size: 58 kg, 82 cm (32.3″) wide and 197 cm (77.6″) long. Addmotor says one person can roll it on flat ground and lifting it takes two; measure your doorway, gate and storage space.
Charging: the battery is removable and locks with a key, and Addmotor says to charge it indoors, in a dry place.
What Full Suspension Adds to a Trike
- A fork and a rear shock — 80 mm of oil-spring travel at the front and spring shock absorption at the rear, which Addmotor says absorbs vibrations and bumps.
- A rear differential — the two rear wheels turn at different speeds through a corner, which Addmotor says reduces slippage and hopping on turns.
- A parking brake — holds the trike still while you get on, get off or load it.
- Pedal or not — the torque sensor follows how hard you pedal, and the half-twist throttle moves the trike without pedalling, which Addmotor’s FAQ points out for seniors and riders managing MS.
Grandtan X Sizes, Fit and Measurements
Addmotor publishes these measurements in inches and centimetres (both shown as Addmotor gives them).
| Rider height | 157–193 cm (5′2″–6′4″) |
|---|---|
| Step-over (standover) height | 44.5 cm (17.5″) |
| Saddle height | 82.6–99 cm (32.5–39″) |
| Handlebar height | 118 cm (46.5″) |
| Reach | 33 cm (13″) |
| Wheelbase | 134.9 cm (53.1″) |
| Overall length | 197 cm (77.6″) |
| Overall width | 82 cm (32.3″) |
| Tires | 24 × 4.0″ front, 20 × 4.0″ rear (61 × 10 cm and 51 × 10 cm) |
The 44.5 cm step-over is the same as the Grandtan II’s; for a lower one, the Freetan M-368X lists 29 cm. Call us with your height and inseam if you are unsure about the fit.
Key Features
- Addshox front suspension and a rear spring shock — Addmotor’s oil-spring fork has 80 mm of travel, and the rear shock is the difference between this trike and the front-suspension-only Grandtan II.
- Rear-mounted motor, 90 N·m — Addmotor Canada gives a 1,100 W peak and no rated wattage; its US store lists its Grandtan X at 750 W rated, 1,400 W peak (see the legal note). Addmotor says the rear placement adds stability and balance on climbs.
- 48 V, 20 Ah Samsung battery (960 Wh) — Samsung 50E cells, certified to UL 2271, 30 A output, IPX6, removable and key-locked. The 48 V, 2.0 A charger takes about 10–11 hours to fill it, per Addmotor.
- Upgraded torque sensor, 7 assist levels, half-twist throttle — the assist follows your pedalling effort; the right-hand throttle comes with a switch.
- Mechanical disc brakes on all three wheels — 180 mm rotors (one front, two rear), a motor cut-off sensor, and a parking brake.
- Rear differential — lets the rear wheels turn at different speeds through corners.
- Shimano Tourney 7-speed — TY300 rear derailleur, right thumb shifter, 14–32T freewheel and a KMC rust-resistant chain.
- Fat tires: 24 × 4.0″ front, 20 × 4.0″ rear — the larger front wheel and the two rear wheels, with aluminium fenders front and rear.
- A seat built for comfort — Addmotor’s padded saddle with a backrest, a quick-release seatpost clamp, a swept-back handlebar on an angle-adjustable stem, and a wooden footrest on the step-through.
- EB 2.0 LCD display and lights — the display shows battery, distance, speed, lights, assist level, motor power and turn signals; a headlight up front and a 5-in-1 taillight (running, hazard, flashing, brake and turn signals) at the back, plus an electric horn and a bell.
- 6061 aluminium frame — Addmotor’s FAQ says the reinforced rear structure takes an e-trike trailer.
How It Arrives
Addmotor says the trike arrives 85% pre-assembled: you attach the handlebar, the seat and the front wheel, with the tools included, and it puts the job at 30 to 45 minutes for most people. Addmotor’s general FAQ, written for all its bikes, lists the front fender and pedals among the parts to fit too. With every Addmotor bike, per its FAQ:
- The Grandtan X, with its battery and charger
- A tool kit, the manual and a pair of pedals
- Aluminium fenders, front and rear (Addmotor’s spec table lists them as included)
Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone, email or video. Addmotor shows the trike with baskets; its spec table lists neither, so ask us before you order if they matter to you.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- It is big. 58 kg, 82 cm wide and 197 cm long: 9 kg more than the Grandtan II (49 kg). Addmotor says one person can roll it and lifting takes two; plan for a garage, a shed or a wide ground-floor spot to keep it.
- A lower load rating than the Grandtan II. Addmotor’s header badge gives 127 kg for the rider plus 36 kg of cargo, against the Grandtan II’s 159 + 45 kg. Its own pages also say 172 kg (spec table) and “up to 127 kg” (FAQ); we plan on 127 kg for the rider.
- Mechanical brakes, and no Canadian motor rating. The disc brakes are cable-operated, like the rest of the Addmotor trikes compared here, and Addmotor Canada does not print the motor’s rated wattage (see the legal note).
If your rides cross gravel, grass, dirt roads or broken pavement and you want suspension at both ends, those trade-offs buy the rear shock.

Shipping & Delivery
- Shipping: Free shipping to all 10 provinces.
- Ships from: Canada. Addmotor dispatches Canadian orders from its warehouse in Aurora, Ontario.
- Timing: We process your order within 1–3 business days. Addmotor’s Canadian shipping guide says an in-stock order leaves its Aurora warehouse within 2–10 business days of order confirmation (its general FAQ says 1–2), and transit time depends on how far you are from Aurora.
- Tracking: By email, as soon as the trike ships.
- Delivery: Addmotor uses FedEx, UPS or Purolator for most bikes, and an adult over the age of 18 has to be there to sign for the delivery. If a delivery truck cannot reach your address, the carrier may ask you to collect the trike at a location it names.
- Where we deliver: Addmotor does not ship to Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, and we do not ship to P.O. boxes. If you live in a remote community, call us before you order.
Returns: 15-day returns from delivery on an unused, unopened trike in its original packaging (15% restocking fee; you pay return shipping). A trike that arrives factory-defective, with under 10 km of use, is a dead-on-arrival case: tell us within 14 days of delivery and we help arrange a refund or a warranty repair.

Choose the Grandtan X if…
your rides cross gravel, grass or broken pavement and you want a fork and a rear shock on an upright, 44.5 cm step-through trike.
Choose the Grandtan II if…
your rides are mostly pavement: the same Grandtan step-through without the rear shock, 9 kg lighter, rated for 159 + 45 kg, and $1,100 less at Zeus (October 2026).
Choose the Arisetan II if…
you want a semi-recumbent seat with a backrest, and you are 170–198 cm tall; it weighs 49 kg and has a 25 mm fork.
Choose the Freetan M-368X if…
you want full suspension with a semi-recumbent seat and the lowest step-over here (29 cm), for riders 155–200 cm; it weighs 67 kg.
Frequently Asked Questions
What riders ask about the Grandtan X
What does full suspension do on the Grandtan X?
It puts suspension at both ends: an 80 mm oil-spring fork at the front (Addmotor calls it Addshox) and a spring shock absorber at the rear, which Addmotor says absorbs vibrations and bumps. The Grandtan II (M-340) has the same 80 mm fork without the rear shock, so the X adds suspension at the back for gravel, grass and broken pavement, and the Grandtan II is 9 kg lighter.
Can I ride it without pedalling?
Yes. Addmotor’s FAQ says you can ride on electric power alone: the right-hand half-twist throttle moves the trike without pedalling, and Addmotor points to it for seniors and riders managing MS. When you do pedal, the torque sensor matches the assist to your effort across 7 levels. Throttle use on public roads is set by each province (see the legal note above). E-bikes and trikes for seniors →
How much weight can it carry, and can it tow a trailer?
Addmotor gives three figures: 127 kg for the rider plus 36 kg of cargo on its header badge, 172 kg (380 lb) in its spec table, and “up to 127 kg” in its FAQ. We plan on 127 kg for the rider. Addmotor’s FAQ says it supports a trailer, with a reinforced rear structure that connects to an e-trike trailer; Addmotor’s own Trailer for Trikes lists the Grandtan series and up to 220 lb of cargo. E-bikes for heavy riders →
How much does it weigh, and can one person move it?
58 kg (127.9 lb). Addmotor says one person can roll it easily on flat ground and lifting it takes two people; the battery comes out to make it lighter to move, and Addmotor’s battery guide says to remove the battery when transporting on a bike rack.
How far does it go on a charge, and how long does charging take?
Addmotor gives 64–137 km (40–85 miles): 137 km on pedal-assist level 1, and toward 64 km on throttle or steep hills (its Canadian FAQ prints those as miles; its spec table gives the kilometres). A full charge takes about 10–11 hours on the 48 V, 2.0 A charger. Addmotor’s warranty page adds that range and top speed are estimates, not guarantees. Our e-bike battery guide →
Is it hard to assemble?
Addmotor says it arrives 85% pre-assembled: you attach the handlebar, the seat and the front wheel with the tools included, and most people finish in 30 to 45 minutes (its general FAQ, written for all its bikes, also lists the front fender and pedals). Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone, email or video.
Is it street legal in Canada?
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Addmotor Canada lists a 1,100 W peak and no rated wattage for the Grandtan X; Addmotor’s US store lists its Grandtan X at 750 W with a 1,400 W peak, a different peak, so that rating may not describe the Canadian unit. A 750 W motor is above that line, and a trike with one is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. If you plan to ride on public roads, call us before you order. Canadian e-bike laws by province →
Can it handle gravel and trails?
Addmotor pitches it “from forest trails to paved paths”, and the parts point that way: 4.0″ fat tires on all three wheels, a fork and a rear shock, a differential that reduces slippage in corners, and a parking brake for stops on a slope. Where a trike may ride off-road is set by your province and by the land manager, and the legal note above applies.
Is the Grandtan X a good trike for seniors?
For many, yes; Addmotor’s own FAQ calls the throttle ideal for seniors. The trike has a 44.5 cm step-over, a padded saddle with a backrest, a throttle for riding without pedalling, a parking brake, and three wheels that keep it upright at a stop. Check two things first: the 58 kg weight and 82 cm width against where you will store it, and the rider-height range (157–193 cm). Our seniors’ trike-match guide →
Grandtan X or Grandtan II (M-340): which should I buy?
Same Grandtan step-through, same tire sizes, and both have a backrest saddle and a wooden footrest. The X adds the rear shock and weighs 58 kg against 49 kg; the Grandtan II is rated for more weight (159 + 45 kg against 127 + 36 kg on Addmotor’s badges) and costs less. Rough surfaces: the X. Pavement and heavier riders: the Grandtan II. See the comparison →
What warranty comes with the Grandtan X?
Addmotor’s limited warranty covers manufacturing defects in material or workmanship, counted from the date of purchase. We file and follow every claim for you. Frame: 2 years. Motor: 2 years. Battery (20Ah, the size on this trike): 2 years. Fork, stem, handlebar, headset, seat post, lights, bottom bracket, rims, wheel hubs, derailleur, throttle, wiring harness, controller and LCD display: 1 year. It does not cover normal wear or consumables (tires, tubes, brake pads, rotors, bearings, cables, grips, chains, cassettes and spokes), theft or vandalism, or damage from accidents, misuse, neglect, commercial use, modifications, improper assembly, maintenance or repair, water, extreme or stunt riding, or not following the owner’s manual. Battery damage from a wrong or damaged charger, improper storage or extreme temperatures is excluded too, and Addmotor pays for a repair at another shop only when it approves the quote before the work is done. Addmotor’s product-page FAQ calls it “a two-year limited warranty on core components” and lists the controller with the frame, motor and battery; its warranty policy puts the controller in the 1-year group, and we go by the policy. These are Addmotor’s published terms, backed by Addmotor in full. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: assembly walkthroughs, remote diagnostics, maintenance help and claim handling, by phone, email or video. Zeus Care plans continue it for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years ($119, $229, $339 or $599). Zeus Care is a service: it does not add warranty coverage. 15-day returns from delivery on an unused, unopened trike in its original packaging (15% restocking fee; you pay return shipping). A trike that arrives factory-defective, with under 10 km of use, is a dead-on-arrival case: tell us within 14 days of delivery and we help arrange a refund or a warranty repair. Are there reviews of the Grandtan X?
It is new to our lineup, so there are no Zeus customer reviews yet, and Addmotor’s own page shows none. Independent video reviews are on YouTube, including Stinnett Sticks’ (30 August 2024) and EOzzie Electric Rides Australia’s (20 December 2024); reviews made outside Canada can describe a different motor, price or offer than this page, which uses Addmotor Canada’s figures. Can I ride and charge it in a Canadian winter?
Addmotor publishes no cold-weather limits for this trike: no owner’s manual for it is posted on its Canadian or US site (read 17 October 2026). What it does say: charge the battery indoors, in a dry place, and its warranty excludes battery damage from extreme temperatures or humidity. The battery is removable and key-locked, so it can come inside between rides. Winter e-bikes in Canada →
