Almost every adult electric trike sits you bolt upright, directly over the cranks. That is fine for a ten-minute errand and hard on a stiff lower back over an hour. The Addmotor Arisetan II M-360 is the one trike in the Zeus lineup that seats you back and low — pedals out ahead of you, a backrest saddle at 28.3″, a 26.7″ standover and a 55.5″ wheelbase — the semi-recumbent geometry Addmotor built, in its own words, to promote “a relaxed, natural posture that reduces strain on the back and shoulders” with a low centre of gravity. Addmotor calls it the world’s first semi-recumbent electric trike. What we can tell you from riding it across two years of Canadian seasons is simpler: nothing else we sell feels like it.

Under the comfort is a proper drivetrain. A 750W rear-drive hub motor (1,400W peak, 90 N·m) is metered by a torque sensor across seven pedal-assist levels, with a half-twist throttle when you want the motor to do all the work. It runs on a 48V 20Ah Samsung-cell battery (960 Wh), UL-certified, that Addmotor rates at up to 137 km per charge in PAS 1, and Addmotor states every Arisetan is UL 2849 certified at the whole-vehicle level with a laser-etched code. Three 20″ × 4.0″ fat tires, Tektro mechanical disc brakes on all three wheels, a dedicated parking brake and a rear differential for clean cornering round it out, with a 380 lb payload (280 lb rider + 100 lb cargo) and a fit window of 5′7″ to 6′6″ — the tallest-reaching trike in our Addmotor range.

Be clear about what you are paying for. At Zeus in August 2026 the Arisetan II is $500 more than the upright Grandtan II and $1,700 more than the folding Citytri E-310, and all three share the same 750W / 20Ah Addmotor drivetrain. The premium buys the geometry: the reclined seating position, the tall-rider fit and the long, planted wheelbase. If your back is the reason you stopped riding, that is the whole point. If it is not, the Grandtan II does most of the same job for less, and we say so below.

Why the Arisetan II M-360 Sits in a Category of One

Plenty of trikes have a 750W motor. Several have a torque sensor. A rear differential is now common on better trikes. What no other trike at Zeus has is all of that on a semi-recumbent chassis. For a Canadian rider that combination means:

• A back-friendly posture that still climbs. The torque sensor reads your pedal force and the 90 N·m rear drive answers it, so a hill in Hamilton or Kelowna does not mean sitting up and grinding.
• Stability that comes from geometry, not just from three wheels. A 55.5″ wheelbase, a 13.3″ bottom-bracket height and a seat 28.3″ off the ground put your weight low and between the axles. On packed snow or a gravel shoulder that is what keeps the inside rear wheel planted.
• A rear differential and a parking brake. The differential lets the two rear wheels turn at different speeds through a corner instead of scrubbing; the parking brake holds the trike on a slope while you load the rack. Both are on every Arisetan.
• UL certification you can store indoors with confidence. Addmotor states the battery is UL-certified for the US and Canada and the whole vehicle is UL 2849 certified with a laser-etched code — a certification you can point to if a building manager or insurer asks what your battery carries.

Key Features

• Semi-recumbent frame — 29.5″ reach, 28.3″ saddle height, 26.7″ standover, 45.2″ handlebar height, 55.5″ wheelbase, 80.7″ overall length, 31″ wide. You sit into the trike rather than on top of it, with a backrest saddle taking your weight and the pedals ahead of your hips. Addmotor rates the Standard frame for riders from 5′7″ to 6′6″ (170–198 cm), which makes this the trike we point tall riders to first.
• 750W rear-drive brushless hub motor, 1,400W peak, 90 N·m. Addmotor moved its whole trike range to rear drive — it says rear-mounted motors give better traction, stability and handling, and it stopped making front-motor trikes for that reason. Motor cut-off is 32 km/h.
• Torque sensor with 7 pedal-assist levels plus a variable half-twist throttle. The motor responds to how hard you press, not just whether the cranks are turning, so assist arrives smoothly from a standstill — useful on a trike, where you cannot lean into a launch. The throttle rides you home if your knees have had enough.
• 48V 20Ah Samsung-cell battery (960 Wh), UL-certified, removable. Rated by Addmotor at up to 137 km in PAS 1; charged by the included 48V 2A magnetic-plug charger. Bring it inside to charge and to sit out a cold night.
• Rear differential, parking brake, and Tektro mechanical disc brakes on all three wheels. Three discs, not two: each rear wheel has its own rotor. Mechanical callipers are simple to adjust and any bike shop can service them (see the honest take below).
• 20″ × 4.0″ fat tires on double-wall aluminium rims, with a 25 mm oil-spring front fork. The 4-inch tires do most of the cushioning; the fork takes the edge off curbs and frost heaves.
• Addmotor EB 2.0 electronics — 5″ LCD with USB port, 25A controller, headlight, and a 5-in-1 taillight with integrated turn signals and brake light, all powered from the main battery. Turn signals on a wide vehicle are not a gimmick.
• Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, KMC stainless chain, 6061 aluminium frame, saddle with backrest. Standard, serviceable parts.
• 380 lb payload — 280 lb rider + 100 lb cargo. The rear rack in the Arisetan Pack measures 21.6″ × 16.5″ × 10.2″ and comes with a storage bag. Addmotor lists its trike trailer as compatible with the Arisetan series if you need more.

The Honest Take — What We’d Change

1. Mechanical, not hydraulic, disc brakes. Tektro mechanical callipers on all three wheels stop a 108 lb trike fine, but they need more lever effort than hydraulics and periodic cable adjustment, and on a machine that can carry 380 lb we would rather see hydraulics. Within the same family, the SpytanX runs hydraulic discs. The upside of mechanical is that any shop in any town can service them.
2. It is a tall rider’s trike. The 5′7″ floor is real: the reach and the pedal position do not shrink for shorter legs. Addmotor makes a 16-inch-wheel Arisetan Mini for 5′6″–6′5″, but it is not in the Zeus catalogue. Under 5′7″, look at the Grandtan II (5′2″+), the Citytri E-310 (5′1″+ Standard, 5′3″+ Plus) or the SpytanX (4′9″+).
3. The footprint. Eighty-one inches long, 31 inches wide, no fold, and 25 mm of fork travel where the Grandtan II has 80 mm. It wants a garage or shed and a vehicle that can carry it; the ride is comfortable because of the tires and the seat, not because of the fork.

None of that changes who this trike is for. If you are 5′7″ or taller, have somewhere to keep it, and an upright saddle is what has been keeping you off a bike, the Arisetan II is the most comfortable way we know to put a torque-sensing 750W drivetrain under a Canadian rider.

Canadian e-bike rules are set provincially and converge on the Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB) limits: 500W nominal motor output, motor assist ending at 32 km/h, and operable pedals. The Arisetan II M-360 has a 750W nominal (1,400W peak) rear-drive motor, so it exceeds the 500W PAB limit and does not meet the PAB definition in any province, even though Addmotor limits it to 32 km/h and it has full working pedals. The fully compliant use is private property, campgrounds, cottage roads and off-road; in practice, provincial enforcement across Canada is overwhelmingly speed-focused rather than wattage-focused, but legally the trike is not a PAB. Quebec applies stricter moped-classification rules above the PAB limit. Addmotor rates the 48V 20Ah Samsung battery (960 Wh) at up to 137 km per charge in PAS 1, its lowest assist level. Zeus estimates roughly 45 to 65 km of mixed throttle and pedal-assist riding on a full charge, and roughly 32 to 50 km at −10°C, allowing for a 20 to 30 percent cold-weather reduction. It does not fold, and it is 80.7″ long, 31″ wide and 55.5″ in wheelbase, so plan on a garage, shed or covered porch for storage and a van, pickup, trailer or a hitch rack rated for a trike’s weight and width for transport.
