YVY Upgraded C20: A 1,500 W Fat Tire Moped-Style eBike With a 960 Wh Battery and Suspension at Both Ends

The YVY Upgraded C20 is a 20-inch fat tire e-bike with a long bench seat and a moped-style frame. In YVY’s figures it has a 1,500 W brushless motor with 85 N·m of torque, a removable 48 V 20 Ah battery (960 Wh), a front suspension fork and a rear hydraulic shock, hydraulic brakes, 20 × 4.0-inch tires and a Shimano 7-speed, and it carries 150 kg (330 lb) of rider and cargo.

It is the Ridstar Q20 platform under YVY’s name: ridstar.eu, a Ridstar dealer, says the C20 “is technically identical to the Ridstar Q20”, and YVY’s and Ridstar’s company-address pages both name HK Ridstar Trade Limited. YVY prints a top speed of 33 mph (53 km/h); its European page gives 20 mph (32 km/h) locked and 33 mph unlocked.

Our take: the C20 gives you YVY’s 1,500 W, a 960 Wh pack, suspension at both ends and hydraulic brakes for $600 less than the Smartravel Raptor ST202 GPS in our comparison below (November 2026 prices). It suits riders about 5′9″ and taller who ride private land and trails. At 1,500 W it is outside every provincial e-bike rule, so no province lets it ride roads, bike lanes or paths as an e-bike. Its 36-inch seat is high: in our computation, 14 of 100 adults at 6′0″ sit with both feet flat. Two US CPSC warnings name the Ridstar Q20 family; neither names YVY or the C20, and Health Canada lists no recall (details below).

Warranty: YVY’s warranty page lists the YVY Upgraded C20 1500W with “one year warranty, including a 1-year warranty on the motor, battery, and charger.” It is backed by YVY in full, and we handle the claim: email support@zeusebikes.ca with your order number and photos, and we present it to the manufacturer for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included; Zeus Care plans are a service and do not add parts coverage (Warranty Policy & Zeus Care).

⚠️ YVY prints a 1,500 W motor (ridstar.eu prints 1,000 W) and a top speed of 33 mph (53 km/h). Either motor figure is past the 500 W in every provincial e-bike definition (Newfoundland and Labrador’s Act has none), so no province lets the C20 ride roads, bike lanes or paths as an e-bike. Off public roads, the landowner, trail authority or track sets access; check the off-road vehicle rules where you ride. A speed setting in the display does not change the motor’s rating. For riding on public roads, start with our 500 W collection. Canadian e-bike laws by province →

Is the YVY C20 Safe? The Record, Read 3 November 2026

No regulator we searched names the YVY C20. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned twice about the Ridstar Q20 family, the platform ridstar.eu says the C20 is identical to:

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s two warnings, read November 3, 2026; neither names YVY or the C20
Notice Date Models named Hazard, in the CPSC’s words What the CPSC asks US owners
Warning 26-337 March 19, 2026 Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Pro “The e-bikes’ batteries and wires can ignite, posing a fire hazard to consumers.” 11 reports of fire. Remove the battery and dispose of it as hazardous waste
Warning 26-584 June 25, 2026 Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite “The front wheel can detach without warning, posing a crash hazard to consumers.” 32 reports, 31 with injuries. Stop using the e-bikes and dispose of them

Both are warnings, and a warning is not a recall. The counts are reports the Commission says it is aware of; the notices do not say what caused each one. The CPSC names the manufacturer as Huizhou Xingqishi Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., which “has refused to agree to an acceptable recall” (March) and “has been unresponsive to CPSC’s requests for information about these products or a recall” (June). The CPSC regulates the United States, so its warnings have no force in Canada.

What the public registers hold:

Searched November 3, 2026, each beside a control search that had to return results: Health Canada for ridstar, yvy, q20, c20 and k20; the CPSC recall database for Ridstar and YVY; the EU Safety Gate for ridstar, yvy, rayzeph and xingqishi. The UK report was read directly.
Register Control Result
Health Canada recalls and safety alerts “electric bicycle” returned results No record names Ridstar, YVY, Q20, C20 or K20 as an e-bike
US CPSC recall database “Rad Power” returned its recall No recall names Ridstar or YVY
EU Safety Gate “e-bike” returned 26 alerts; a nonsense term none One Ridstar alert: SR/02883/25 (31 July 2025), Q20-Plus, Q20-Mini and E26 Pro; fire and electric shock; none for YVY
UK Office for Product Safety and Standards No search run: report read directly Report 2506-0011: Ridstar Q20-Plus, Q20-Mini and E26 Pro chargers, “serious risk of fire”; YVY not named

If you ride a C20: no regulator we searched has told C20 owners to stop riding. The CPSC’s wheel hazard is a front wheel that comes off, so before every ride check that both front axle nuts are tight and the wheel does not move in the fork, and stop riding if it does. In our own records, the C20’s most common warranty contact so far is the kickstand, and we found no report from a C20 owner of a front wheel coming loose (calls since July 2024 and email since July 2026, searched 28 October 2026; our review sets out the record).

Will the YVY C20 Fit You? A 36-Inch Seat

YVY prints a rider window of 5′4″ to 6′2″. Its geometry drawing, on its US K20 page when we read it on 28 October 2026, puts the seat 36 inches (91 cm) off the ground and the standover at 33 inches (84 cm). We ran those two figures through the fit model our US sister store, RedTail eBikes, uses in its Ridstar Q20 review, across the 6,068 adults in the US Army’s ANSUR II survey:

Riders of 100 at each height, computed from the 6,068 adults in the US Army’s ANSUR II body survey (barefoot)
Your height Clear the 33 in standover Both feet flat on the 36 in seat
5′6″ 11 of 100 0 of 100
5′7″ 19 of 100 0 of 100
5′8″ 37 of 100 0 of 100
5′9″ 55 of 100 1 of 100
5′10″ 79 of 100 1 of 100
5′11″ 94 of 100 6 of 100
6′0″ 96 of 100 14 of 100
6′1″ 99 of 100 33 of 100
6′2″ 100 of 100 51 of 100
6′3″ 100 of 100 64 of 100
6′4″ 100 of 100 97 of 100

Computed by Zeus on 28 October 2026 (barefoot; riding shoes add their sole). Half of adults clear the standover at about 5′9″, and half sit flat-footed on the seat at about 6′2″. On a moped-style bike you can lean the bike or slide off the seat at a stop instead of standing over it. Full method: our review’s fit section.

The three other bikes in our comparison sit lower, at about 33 inches. RedTail eBikes’ fit tables put both feet flat for 80 of 100 riders at 5′10″ on the Riding Times Z8 Pro, 79 on the Smartravel Raptor ST202 and 65 on the Riding Times GT33, against 1 of 100 on the C20 (at 5′8″: 38, 37 and 22, against 0).

Watch a YVY Upgraded C20 Review

A 14-minute third-party video review of the YVY Upgraded C20 by the YouTube channel GSMaholic, published on October 7, 2026; not a Zeus test.

How Far the YVY C20 Goes on a Charge

YVY prints up to 50 miles (80 km) in pure electric mode and up to 75 miles (121 km) with pedal assist, without naming a speed or a rider weight; ridstar.eu prints 60–70 km on electric power and 70–100 km with assist. We computed the 960 Wh pack with the range model from RedTail eBikes’ Ridstar Q20 review, on YVY’s figures:

Computed range from a full charge: throttle only, 80 kg rider unless shown, level pavement, no wind
20 km/h, 25 °C ≈103 km
25 km/h, 25 °C ≈84 km
32 km/h, 25 °C ≈63 km
32 km/h, 10 °C ≈54 km
32 km/h, 0 °C ≈50 km
32 km/h, 150 kg of rider and cargo, 25 °C ≈54 km

Computed, not measured on a ride. Keep a quarter in reserve: plan on 47 km at 32 km/h and 77 km at 20 km/h. Wind, stops, snow and soft ground are not in the model, and each shortens the range. YVY’s 50-mile (80 km) electric figure fits a steady 25 km/h in the model. Full tables: our review’s range section.

Key Features

  • 1,500 W brushless motor: up to 85 N·m in YVY’s figures (90 N·m on ridstar.com’s C20 image), with three riding modes (pure electric, electric assist and pedal) and a twist-grip throttle. YVY says it climbs slopes up to 35°. Our 500 W vs 750 W vs 1,000 W explainer explains what the wattage means on the road and off it.
  • 960 Wh removable battery: 48 V 20 Ah lithium-ion that comes out to charge indoors. YVY prints about 4–6 hours to charge on its Australian page and 6–7 hours on its US K20 page. Our e-bike battery guide covers charging and winter storage.
  • Suspension at both ends: a front suspension fork and a rear hydraulic shock absorber, under a long bench seat.
  • Hydraulic brakes front and rear: YVY’s “Hydraulic Dual Brakes”; ridstar.eu calls them disc brakes. Replacement brake pads for the C20 are on our site.
  • 20 × 4.0-inch fat tires: puncture-resistant, for the grass, dirt, sand, snow and gravel YVY names. Our fat tire e-bike guide compares fat tire bikes across the store.
  • Display, lights and carrying: an LCD with speed, mileage, battery level and assist level; an LED headlight, tail light and brake light; a 7.2-inch phone holder and a 22 × 14 × 11 cm storage box, per YVY. YVY prints “IP5 waterproof protection”, an IP code with its water digit missing, so keep water off the controller and battery contacts.

What Comes in the Box

YVY says the bike ships 90% pre-assembled with the charger, a tool kit, pedals and a manual (its US page), and lists the phone holder and storage box (its Australian page). You fit the pedals, handlebar, front wheel and accessories; the left pedal is reverse-threaded. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care; call 1-866-938-7580. Tighten both front axle nuts when you fit the wheel, and check them before every ride.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. The seat is high. At 36 inches (91 cm), 1 of 100 riders at 5′10″ and 14 of 100 at 6′0″ can sit with both feet flat (our computation). Under about 5′10″, compare the Riding Times Z8 / Z8 Pro: on the Z8 Pro, RedTail eBikes’ fit tables put 38 of 100 riders at 5′8″ and 80 at 5′10″ flat-footed, against 0 and 1 on the C20.
  2. It is heavy. ridstar.eu prints 34 kg and YVY’s drawing 88 lb (39.9 kg). Take the battery out before lifting, plan ground-level storage, and use a ramp or a hitch rack rated for the weight.
  3. It is a 1,500 W machine on a platform with a US record. No province lets it ride roads, bike lanes or paths as an e-bike, and the CPSC’s two warnings on the Ridstar Q20 family are set out above. Check the front axle nuts before every ride.

For a rider about 5′9″ or taller with land or trails to ride, it gives 1,500 W, 960 Wh, hydraulic brakes and suspension at both ends for $600 less than the Smartravel Raptor ST202 GPS (November 2026 prices).

Who Is the YVY C20 For?

  • Tall riders with private land, farm roads or trail access: a moped-style ride with suspension at both ends where the landowner or trail authority allows a 1,500 W machine. Our hunting e-bike guide covers backcountry use.
  • Riders who want a big removable battery: 960 Wh that charges indoors, about 63 km at 32 km/h in our model.
  • Heavier riders: 150 kg (330 lb) of rider and cargo; at the full 150 kg, our model gives about 54 km at 32 km/h.
  • Moped-style fans: the bench seat and frame of a small motorbike on 20-inch fat tires. Our moped-style e-bike guide sets it against other moped-style bikes.

Who it is not for: riders under about 5′9″ who want to sit with their feet down (the Riding Times Z8 / Z8 Pro and Riding Times GT33 sit about 3 inches lower; call us with your height); anyone who needs an e-bike for roads, bike lanes or paths (our 500 W collection); anyone carrying it up stairs; and anyone who does not want a bike on a platform the US CPSC has warned about.

The both-feet-flat row is computed with RedTail’s fit model (ANSUR II, barefoot): RedTail’s Z8 Pro, GT33 and Raptor ST202 reviews, and our computation on YVY’s drawing for the C20. Riding Times’ weights are the first of the two figures it prints for each (79 and 89 lb, 91 and 112 lb).

Riding Times sells the Z8 and GT33 at 500 W rated with a factory 25 km/h mode and also publishes 50 km/h; where a maker says the cap can be raised, whether an adjustable cap qualifies under the provincial e-bike rules is not settled. Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the YVY C20

Is the YVY C20 the same as the Ridstar Q20?

On the evidence the makers publish, yes. ridstar.eu, a European Ridstar dealer, says the C20 “is technically identical to the Ridstar Q20 features, but offered under a different model name for clear branding and SEO distinction”, lists it as “YVY C20 (same as Q20)” and says “RIDSTAR, YVY or RAYZEPH brand will be shipped”. YVY’s and Ridstar’s company-address pages both name HK Ridstar Trade Limited. Matching words do not prove matching parts: no page we read says whether the C20 carries the Q20’s front axle and battery.

Is the YVY C20 the same bike as the YVY K20?

YVY sells a K20 in the United States, and our listing’s title names both. On 28 October 2026 YVY’s US K20 page printed the C20’s motor, battery, brakes and load. On 3 November it had been rewritten and now prints 80 N·m, 35 mph, a high-carbon steel frame and a “5-level fork and seatpost shock”, where YVY’s Australian Upgraded C20 page prints 85 N·m, 33 mph and a rear hydraulic shock. This page describes the C20; if you are comparing it with a K20, call us at 1-866-938-7580.

Is the YVY C20 safe?

No regulator we searched has warned about the YVY C20 or K20 by name. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued two stop-use warnings on the Ridstar Q20 family, for battery fires and for front wheels detaching, and a Ridstar dealer calls the C20 technically identical to the Q20. Health Canada lists no recall or warning for Ridstar or YVY. Check that both front axle nuts are tight before every ride.

Has the YVY C20 been recalled?

No recall that we found. On 3 November 2026, Health Canada’s recall database and the US CPSC’s recall database held no recall of a YVY or Ridstar e-bike. The CPSC’s two 2026 actions on the Ridstar Q20 family are warnings: in March it said the manufacturer “has refused to agree to an acceptable recall”, and in June that it “has been unresponsive to CPSC’s requests for information about these products or a recall”. Neither names YVY.

Is the YVY C20 legal in Canada?

Not as an e-bike. YVY prints a 1,500 W motor, past the 500 W in every provincial e-bike definition, so no province lets the C20 ride roads, bike lanes or paths as an e-bike. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Act has no e-bike definition and, as written, treats a machine like this as a motor vehicle. Ride it off public roads, where the landowner, trail authority or track sets access.

What class is the YVY C20?

Canada does not use the US class 1, 2 and 3 labels in law (B.C.’s regulation sorts e-bikes into its own two classes, light e-bikes and standard e-bikes). Provinces define an e-bike by motor power, speed and pedals, and the C20’s 1,500 W is outside every provincial e-bike definition, whatever US class a seller attaches to it.

How fast does the YVY C20 go?

YVY’s Australian page prints a top speed of 33 mph (53 km/h) in pure electric mode, and its European page “20(lock)-33(unlock) MPH”, as ridstar.com does for the C20 (20 mph is 32 km/h); ridstar.eu prints over 45 km/h. A speed lock does not change the motor’s 1,500 W rating, which is outside every provincial e-bike definition.

How can I make the YVY C20 faster?

We do not help with that. Removing a speed limit does not make the C20 an e-bike anywhere in Canada, and our warranty page says that if an inspected bike shows “non-original electrical parts, tuning, or derestriction, the related claim will be declined”.

How far does the YVY C20 go on one charge?

About 63 km at 32 km/h and 103 km at 20 km/h for an 80 kg rider on the throttle, on level pavement at 25 °C with the whole 960 Wh pack (our computation with RedTail eBikes’ range model). Keep a quarter in reserve and plan on 47 and 77 km. YVY prints up to 50 miles (80 km) in pure electric mode and up to 75 miles (121 km) with pedal assist.

How much does the YVY C20 weigh?

ridstar.eu’s C20 page prints 34 kg. YVY’s geometry drawing printed “88 LBS Bike Weight” (39.9 kg) when we read it on 28 October 2026. Plan for the heavier figure when you lift it, rack it or carry it up steps, and take the battery out first.

What is the YVY C20’s weight limit?

YVY prints a maximum load of 330 lb (150 kg), rider and cargo together, and ridstar.eu prints 150 kg. At the full 150 kg, our range model gives about 54 km at 32 km/h on level pavement at 25 °C.

What is the YVY C20’s seat height, and what height rider does it fit?

YVY’s drawing puts the seat 36 inches (91 cm) off the ground and the standover at 33 inches (84 cm), and YVY prints a rider window of 5′4″ to 6′2″. Among measured adults, half clear the 33-inch standover at about 5′9″ (55 of 100), and half sit flat-footed on the seat at about 6′2″; shorter riders should expect to lean the bike or slide off the seat at stops.

Is the YVY C20 waterproof?

YVY prints “IP5 waterproof protection”. That is not a complete rating: an IP code has two numerals, and the second, for water, is missing. Treat it as having no complete water rating: keep water off the controller and battery contacts, and do not ride through standing water.

What tire size and pressure does the YVY C20 use?

20 × 4.0-inch fat tires on YVY’s and both Ridstar dealers’ C20 pages; YVY’s drawing gives a wheel diameter of 23 inches. None of the YVY or Ridstar pages we read gives a tire pressure, so use the range moulded on the tire’s sidewall, or call us at 1-866-938-7580 if it shows none.

Where can I get YVY C20 parts in Canada?

We list a Ridstar/YVY controller with a “Q20/C20” option and brake pads with a “Q20 / YVY C20” option. For any other part, call us at 1-866-938-7580 with your order number and a photo of the part.

What throttle does the YVY C20 have, and what if it stops working?

YVY’s Australian page prints a “Twist Grip Throttle”. If it stops working, stop riding on the throttle, switch the bike off and check the throttle and controller connectors for water or a loose pin. If you bought the bike from us, email support@zeusebikes.ca from your order email with your order number and a short video.

How long does the YVY C20 battery take to charge?

YVY’s Australian C20 page prints “About 4-6 Hours” for the 48 V 20 Ah pack, and YVY’s US K20 page “6-7 hours to full”. Charge indoors at room temperature, on a hard surface, and never leave a charging pack unattended; our e-bike battery guide covers winter storage.

Is YVY a good brand?

YVY’s and Ridstar’s address pages name the same business, HK Ridstar Trade Limited, and Ridstar’s dealers sell the bike under both names. In our view the answer is the record: two US warnings on the platform, no Canadian recall, and our own service record, which on the C20 so far is mostly kickstands. Our YVY C20 review sets it out.

Can you buy the YVY C20 in Canada?

Yes, here. We ship it free across Canada, from Canada: orders are processed in 1–3 business days and delivered in 2–7, depending on where you live (shipping policy). We do not ship to P.O. boxes; if you live in a remote community, call 1-866-938-7580 before you order.

What warranty comes with the YVY C20?

YVY’s warranty page lists the YVY Upgraded C20 1500W with “one year warranty, including a 1-year warranty on the motor, battery, and charger”. It is backed by YVY in full, and every claim starts with us: email support@zeusebikes.ca with your order number and photos, and we present it to the manufacturer on your behalf. Your first month of Zeus Care is included (Warranty Policy & Zeus Care).

How hard is the YVY C20 to assemble?

YVY says it ships 90% pre-assembled. You fit the pedals, handlebar, front wheel and accessories; the left pedal is reverse-threaded, the most common installation error on our warranty page. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580. Tighten both front axle nuts when you fit the wheel, and check them before every ride.

Can I return the YVY C20?

Our refund policy accepts unused and unopened items within 15 days of delivery, with a 15% restocking fee unless the return is our error; the customer pays return shipping, and a bike bought at a struck-through price is not final sale. A bike that has been ridden can be refused or charged an assessment fee.

Is Zeus Care a warranty?

No. Zeus Care is our service: we diagnose the problem, file the claim and follow it up. Your first month is included with every e-bike, and plans of 1, 2, 3 or 5 years ($119 to $599) continue it; in our warranty page’s words, Zeus Care “does not add coverage or extend the manufacturer's warranty”.

Can I finance the YVY C20?

Yes. Financing is available at Zeus, and our guide to financing an e-bike in Canada → explains how it works.
