Velotric Triker: a Folding Electric Tricycle With a 750 W, 90 N·m Motor, a Rear Differential and Beginner Mode

The Velotric Triker is a folding three-wheel e-bike that Velotric designed with seniors and first-time riders in mind. Its 750 W hub motor (1,300 W peak, 90 N·m) runs from a 48 V, 16.75 Ah battery certified to UL 2271, rated by Velotric for up to 97 km on pedal assist. A rear differential, front and rear parking brakes and Kenda 20 × 3.0″ tires keep it planted; Beginner Mode limits speed to 13 km/h with a gentle start.

Velotric includes a rear basket (54 kg), rearview mirrors and a waterproof liner, plus fenders. One size fits riders 147–196 cm, with a 370 mm step-through, a 300 mm saddle with an adjustable backrest, and a stem that rotates and folds.

Colours: Cherry Crimson (shown as Red in the colour picker), Electric Blue (Blue) and Pearl White (White).

⚠️ Canadian legal note: a motor over 500 W

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ends on 19 October 2026).

Velotric lists the Triker’s motor at 750 W (1,300 W peak). That is above the 500 W line, so the Triker is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. It ships set to 19 km/h and Velotric lists an adjustable range of 13–32 km/h; it never goes above 32 km/h, but the motor rating alone puts it over the line. Velotric’s Class 1/2 labels are the US classification system, not a Canadian category.

Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province → None of the Velotric trikes or cargo models we sell is rated at or under 500 W; the two Velotrics that are, the Discover M and the Tempo, are two-wheel commuters.

Good to know before you order

Load: Velotric’s FAQ gives 227 kg “including rider and cargo”; its manual says the 500 lb (227 kg) total payload includes the e-bike, riders and all cargo, basket load included. Plan within the lower reading: about 188 kg for rider and cargo once the trike’s 39 kg is counted. The basket alone is rated for 54 kg.

Hills: Velotric’s feature text says it was tested at 136 kg on 15° slopes; its FAQ says to avoid slopes steeper than 15%, a gentler grade (about 8.5°), especially going downhill. Follow the FAQ.

Throttle: the spec table lists a removable trigger throttle and the feature text a thumb throttle; ask us and we’ll confirm which one ships.

Charging in winter: the battery won’t charge below 0 °C. Velotric’s manual says to charge it at 10–30 °C; it lifts out to charge inside, and a full charge takes 4–6 hours.

What the Combination Does for a Canadian Rider

  • Three wheels and a rear differential — Velotric says the differential prevents wheel slip on wet turns, and front and rear parking brakes hold it still on level ground.
  • A gentle start for new riders — Beginner Mode limits speed to 13 km/h with a smooth 3-level assist; Standard Mode goes up to 32 km/h when you are ready.
  • Easy on, easy off — a 370 mm step-through, a 300 mm saddle with an adjustable backrest, and a 180° rotating stem to set your posture.
  • Carries the shopping — a rear basket rated for 54 kg with a waterproof liner, fenders and mirrors, all included.

Triker Sizes, Fit and Measurements

One size fits riders 147–196 cm, per Velotric. The geometry is Velotric’s, printed as text on its Canadian page; inches and feet are our conversion. Velotric does not publish a folded size for the Triker.

Triker geometry (Velotric)
Measurement One size
Rider height 147–196 cm (4′10″–6′5″)
Stand-over (step-through) height 370 mm (14.6″)
Saddle height 590–983 mm (23.2–38.7″)
Reach 350 mm (13.8″)
Handlebar height 1,150–1,180 mm (45.3–46.5″)
Wheelbase 1,090 mm (42.9″)
Rear track width 725 mm (28.5″)
Total length 1,647 mm (64.8″)
Handlebar width 660 mm (26.0″)

The 725 mm rear track is the width to check against your door, gate or storage space. Not sure? Call us with the measurements.

Key Features

  • 48 V, 16.75 Ah battery — IPX7, certified to UL 2271, 18650 cells certified to UL 2580, a 48 V, 3 A charger; removable; Velotric expects 500+ full cycles, about 3–5 years of regular use.
  • Rear differential and parking brakes — front and rear parking brakes: squeeze the lever fully and press the latch, per Velotric’s manual.
  • Beginner Mode — 13 km/h with simplified controls; Standard Mode up to 32 km/h.
  • Hydraulic fork, 80 mm — with lockout; hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors front and rear.
  • Kenda 20 × 3.0″ puncture-resistant tires — on double-wall aluminum rims.
  • Shimano 7-speed, 11–28T — a KMC chain, a 40T narrow-wide chainring and 152 mm cranks.
  • SensorSwap and 5 assist levels — torque for hills, cadence for relaxed flat rides; swap with a long press on M.
  • 3.5″ colour display — Bluetooth, adjustable angle, app updates over the air, a USB-C port and a 3.2 km/h walk mode.
  • Lights, turn signals and a horn — a light-sensing 500 lm headlight, a rear light with brake indicator, turn signals with a click, and a 90 dB electric horn.
  • Seat with an adjustable backrest — a 300 mm saddle; a foldable, adjustable 60 mm stem.
  • Rear basket (54 kg), waterproof liner, mirrors and fenders — included.
  • Apple Find My — with the Velotric app.
  • UL 2849 and ISO 4210 — UL 2849 for the e-bike system, UL 2271 for the battery; IPX6 trike, IPX7 battery.

How It Arrives

It arrives folded. In the box, per Velotric:

  • The Triker, with its battery, charger, front light and display
  • The rear basket, waterproof liner and rearview mirrors (Velotric lists a bar-end mirror)
  • The front fender, front and rear reflectors, a bell, a cable binder, and left and right pedals
  • The manual and quick-start guide, and a toolkit

Velotric’s manual has you unfold and lock the frame, straighten the stem, fit the front wheel and front fender, and fit the pedals, then check the tires and charge the battery. Velotric has no assembly video for this model; your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Above the 500 W line. Velotric lists 750 W, so it is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province, even though it tops out at 32 km/h (see the legal note above).
  2. 39 kg and 725 mm wide at the back. It folds, but it is the heaviest Velotric we sell.
  3. Not for steep hills. Velotric’s FAQ says to avoid slopes over 15%, especially downhill.
  4. No folded size published. Velotric says it folds for SUVs and apartments but prints no folded dimensions.

If balance on two wheels is the worry, the Triker gives you three, a rear differential, parking brakes and a 13 km/h Beginner Mode to start in.

Who Is the Triker For?

Who it’s NOT for: riders who need a motor at or under the 500 W line (the Tempo or Discover M); steep hills (Velotric says to avoid slopes over 15%); narrow doorways under 725 mm; and loads over the lower load reading above (e-bikes for heavy riders).

Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the Triker

Where can I buy the Velotric Triker in Canada?

Here, from Zeus eBikes Canada: order the Triker online on this page. It ships from Canada with free Canada-wide shipping (no P.O. boxes or remote communities: call first), processed in 1–3 business days, then 2–7 business days in transit. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included, and we file warranty claims with Velotric for you. Questions before you order: 1-866-938-7580 or sales@zeusebikes.ca; to pay by Interac e-Transfer instead of card, email sales@ for an invoice.

How much can the Triker carry, and what is its weight limit?

Velotric’s FAQ gives a 227 kg maximum load “including rider and cargo”; its manual says the 500 lb total payload includes the e-bike as well. Plan within the lower reading: about 188 kg for rider and cargo once the trike’s 39 kg is counted. The rear basket is rated for 54 kg. E-bikes for heavy riders →

How fast does the Triker go, and can I ride it on Canadian roads?

It ships set to 19 km/h; Beginner Mode limits it to 13 km/h, and Standard Mode goes up to 32 km/h. Velotric labels the settings Class 1/2; those are US labels, not a Canadian category. Velotric lists the motor at 750 W, above that line, so the Triker is not a road-legal power-assisted bicycle in any province at any speed setting. Higher-power e-bikes are outside those definitions: private land with permission, or where your province’s off-road rules allow. Canadian e-bike laws by province →

Is the Triker beginner-friendly? How do I get on and off safely?

Velotric built it for first-time riders: Beginner Mode (slower speed, simplified controls), a step-through frame and a gentle start. Its advice: stop fully before stepping off, mount from the left, keep your balance centred and use the handlebars or backrest for stability; slow down before turns and brake early. E-bikes for seniors →

Can I ride the Triker up hills?

Velotric says its 90 N·m motor and 7-speed gearing handle moderate hills, but to avoid slopes over 15%, especially going downhill. Its feature text mentions testing at 136 kg on 15° slopes, a steeper grade; follow the FAQ.

How far does it go, how long does charging take, and how long does the battery last?

Up to 97 km on pedal assist and 80 km on throttle, per Velotric, tested at PAS 1 on flat terrain with a 90 kg rider; its tip is Torque mode and 276 kPa in the tires. A full charge takes 4–6 hours, and Velotric expects 500+ full cycles, about 3–5 years of regular use. Charge at 10–30 °C; it won’t charge below 0 °C. E-bike battery guide →

Does the Triker fold? What are its dimensions?

Yes, the frame and stem fold; Velotric says it folds for SUVs and apartments but publishes no folded size. Unfolded: 1,647 mm long, 725 mm rear track width, 1,090 mm wheelbase and a 370 mm step-through, per Velotric. See the geometry table →

How much does the Triker weigh?

39 kg, per Velotric.

What comes with it? Can I add accessories?

Velotric includes a rear basket, rearview mirrors, a waterproof liner and fenders. It says the Triker works with its phone holders, cup holders, locks and front baskets, sold separately.

Can I ride it in the rain or store it outside?

Velotric rates the trike IPX6 and the battery IPX7: light rain is fine, but avoid heavy downpours and deep puddles. Outside, use a weatherproof cover, park on level ground and set the parking brake. Its manual says not to wash it with water or use a pressure washer.

How do I lock or park it?

Set the parking brakes, which are on both the front and rear: squeeze the brake lever fully and press the latch into place, per Velotric’s manual; squeeze again to release. Then use any standard bike lock.

What tire pressure should it run?

Kenda 20 × 3.0″ tires. Velotric’s FAQ tip is 276 kPa (40 psi); its manual says to inflate to the PSI stamped on the sidewall, so stay within the sidewall’s range.

Torque or cadence sensor: when should I use which?

Velotric’s answer: torque for hilly routes and responsive riding, cadence for relaxed cruising and steady flat rides. Swap with a long press on the M button, or in the app or display menu.

How does the Triker arrive, and is assembly hard?

It arrives folded with a toolkit. Velotric’s manual has you unfold the frame, straighten the stem, fit the front wheel and front fender, and fit the pedals. Velotric has no assembly video for this model; your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video. Velotric’s owner’s manual →

What warranty comes with the Triker?

Velotric’s Canadian warranty policy (read 17 October 2026) covers the electrical components for 2 years: the motor, throttle, control panel, controller, wiring harness, lights, sensor, Find My and IoT modules, and charger, with the battery covered for up to 300 charge cycles in that time (Velotric says it is designed to keep up to 75% of its capacity over them). Other essential parts (suspension fork, stem, handlebar, headset, brakes except pads, bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, kickstand, rims, hubs, freewheel, derailleur and shifter) and accessories are covered for 1 year. Tires, tubes, brake pads, cables and housing, grips, chain, spokes, paint and graphics are not covered, and coverage is for the first owner. The same policy also says third-party components such as drivetrain, brake or suspension parts are not covered by it, and its 5-year frame line names only the T1 and T1 ST; where its wording leaves a question, we get Velotric’s answer for you before you buy. These are Velotric’s own published Canadian terms (the limited warranty printed in its manual applies to US purchases only), backed by Velotric in full. Velotric’s policy sends buyers who bought through a dealer to that dealer, which is us, and we handle the claim with Velotric for you. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Velotric and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
