26×4″ Fat Tires, a Torque Sensor and 80 Nm, With a Manual That Lists Use Down to −20 °C.

The Westridge 4T is Taubik’s 500W fat-tire Westridge. Taubik lists a 500W Bafang rear hub with 80 Nm, a torque sensor, a 48V Samsung battery with 21700 cells, Kenda Juggernaut Pro 26×4″ tires, an RST air fork, Shimano Acera 8-speed gearing, Zoom hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors, and a rear rack with an integrated brake light.

One line in its manual sets it apart from most Taubik bikes we sell: it is not intended for use below −20 °C or above 60 °C, where 8 of the 12 Taubik manuals for bikes we sell draw the line at 0 °C. The battery still charges only between 0 °C and 40 °C. The manual also shows a thumb throttle.

Not to be confused with the 1000W Westridge 4T Off-Road: that is a different bike on different tires. Taubik’s documents also set this bike’s limits, including a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page); they are below, with each figure where Taubik’s documents differ.

What the Combination Does in Canadian Conditions

  • Float on soft surfaces. Taubik pitches the 4″ tires and air fork for “sand, snow, and more”; the manual sets tire pressure at 5–30 psi. Fat tire e-bikes in Canada →
  • Assist that follows your legs. A torque sensor, five assist levels at 12, 16, 21, 26 and 32 km/h in the manual, and motor cut-off when you brake.
  • Cold-weather riding on the manual’s terms. Ride to −20 °C, bring the battery inside to charge, and dry the bike after snow.
  • Carry and be seen. A rear rack rated 25 kg with its own brake light.

Key Features

  • 500W Bafang rear hub, 80 Nm — “500W Bafang (80 NM)” on Taubik’s page; the manual lists a “Bafang 500 W/48V Hub, UL approved”.
  • Torque sensor — Per Taubik’s page and manual.
  • Thumb throttle — Per the manual. Pedal assist vs throttle →
  • 48V Samsung battery — 15Ah “UL Certified” on the page; 14.7Ah with BMS, 21700 cells, “UL approved” in the manual. Charges in 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
  • Certification — Taubik’s page says the Westridge 4T is “UL2849 certified”; its manual lists the motor, battery and charger as “UL approved”. Ask us for the certificate if your building or insurer needs one.
  • Kenda Juggernaut Pro 26×4″ tires — On 26″ double-walled spoked rims.
  • RST air fork — “RST Air Forks” on the page and “RST air suspension” in the manual.
  • Shimano Acera 8-speed — RD-M360 derailleur, CS-HG200-8 cassette, KMC Z8 chain.
  • Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
  • Rear rack with integrated brake light, headlight, kickstand — Rack rated 25 kg (manual).
  • 6061 aluminum frame, 17.4″ — Colour LCD display.

How It Arrives

Taubik’s Westridge 4T manual says the bike arrives in its carton about 75% assembled:

  • Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
  • Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
  • Taubik’s manual for this model: Westridge 4T manual (PDF) →

Taubik’s manual for this model says those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”: ask us how that is handled for your order before your first ride. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Taubik’s page has two speed figures. 32 km/h in the spec table and manual; “top speeds of 41km/h” and a 1000W peak in a feature paragraph. Ask us how the bike ships before you ride it on public roads.
  2. Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). The rack’s own limit is 25 kg.
  3. It is heavy. 35.2 kg (about 78 lb) on the page and in the manual: a two-person lift onto a car rack.
  4. The fork in the photo. Taubik’s spec table and manual say RST air fork; its own product photo shows a fork lettered Mozo. Ask us which your bike carries if it matters to you.
  5. Paths, roads and soft ground, not jumps. The manual says it is designed “to be used on a regular road by a single person” and that extreme off-road use or jumping will damage it.

Inside those limits it is the Taubik fat bike whose manual allows riding below freezing, with a torque sensor, a throttle and a lit rack, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Riders who want more power off-road (the Westridge 4T Off-Road, which is an off-road bike). Jump riders (the manual rules out jumping).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the Westridge 4T or the Westridge 4T Off-Road?

This is the Westridge 4T: a 500W Bafang motor with 80 Nm, 26×4″ Kenda Juggernaut Pro tires and an RST air fork. The Westridge 4T Off-Road (Taubik calls it the 4TOR) is a different bike: a 1000W motor, 26×4.8″ Maxxis Minion tires, a Mozo coil fork and a 20Ah battery, built for off-road use. Taubik Westridge 4T Off-Road →

Is the Westridge 4T legal on Canadian roads?

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Taubik’s spec table and manual list a 500W motor and 32 km/h. A feature paragraph on the same Taubik page says the motor “can reach a peak power of 1000W” and that the bike “achieves top speeds of 41km/h, ideal for off-road adventures”. We have not confirmed how the bike is set when it ships, so ask us before you ride it on public roads, and check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

Can I ride it in winter?

Taubik’s Westridge 4T manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than -20°C or above ambient temperatures of 60°C”, and that the battery should be charged only between 0 °C and 40 °C. So the manual allows riding below freezing; charge the battery indoors. Taubik’s warranty still excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt, and the manual says to avoid parking it outside when it is raining or snowing. Our winter e-bike guide →

Is it a step-over or a step-through?

Taubik’s own photo shows a top tube that dips to mid-height: lower than a classic mountain bike, but not a low step-through. Taubik’s dimension chart gives a stand-over height of 26.9″ (684 mm) and a seat height from 31″ (788 mm) to 39.3″ (999 mm). If you want a low step-through on the same tire size, look at the Tour S.

How far does it go on a charge?

Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. Its manual gives 70–110 km with pedal assist and 35–40 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was measured with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures, and cold shortens range. A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger. Our e-bike battery guide →

What is its weight limit?

Taubik’s page says 286 lb weight capacity; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). Plan around the lower one. The rear rack is rated for 25 kg and is not for a trailer or a child seat. The bike weighs 35.2 kg on the page and in the manual.

Where are Taubik bikes made?

Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us.

Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?

Taubik posts the Westridge 4T manual in English and French: Westridge 4T manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar loosened or removed, and that those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

What warranty does it come with?

Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
