Eunorau FAT-HD 2.0 / Hunter X7 — 1000W Mid-Drive Fat Tire Electric Mountain Bike
Eunorau FAT-HD 2.0 / Hunter X7 — The Mid-Drive Hunting Machine
Most hunting eBikes use hub motors. Hub motors are loud, inefficient on hills, and have one gear ratio that either works or doesn’t. The FAT-HD 2.0 is not most hunting eBikes. It runs a Bafang 1000W mid-drive motor with 160 Nm of torque through a Shimano 9-speed drivetrain — the same motor platform that powers our best-selling Flash 1000W and SPECTER-ST 2.0. The motor is whisper-quiet, torque-sensing, and drives through the gears so it multiplies force on steep terrain instead of stalling on it.
Pair that with 26″ × 4.0″ Kenda fat tires that roll over roots, mud, snow, sand, and logging roads without flinching, an RST suspension fork that absorbs trail punishment, and a 375 lb payload capacity that carries you, your gear, your tree stand, and your cooler — and you have a purpose-built machine for getting deep into the bush and back out again. Quietly.
The FAT-HD 2.0 supports dual batteries. Start with the included 15Ah Samsung pack. Add an optional second battery when you need more range — Eunorau rates the dual setup at up to 80 miles. The frame has the mounting points built in from day one.

Why a Mid-Drive Changes Hunting
Hunters care about three things on an eBike: quiet, torque, and range. The FAT-HD 2.0 delivers all three because of the mid-drive architecture:
- Whisper-quiet operation — Mid-drive motors run at the pedals, not the wheel hub. The Bafang 1000W mid-drive produces a low hum that disappears into ambient forest noise. Hub motors whine. On a November morning walking distance from a deer stand, that difference matters.
- 160 Nm through 9 gears — The motor torque multiplies through the Shimano 9-speed cassette. In first gear on a steep logging road, the effective force at the rear wheel is massive. Hub motors have one gear ratio — if the hill is too steep, they stall. The FAT-HD 2.0 downshifts and climbs. We have seen the same Bafang motor platform on the Flash 1000W climb sustained 12% grades fully loaded.
- Efficient range — Because the motor uses the gears, it operates at peak efficiency across varied terrain. The same 15Ah battery lasts longer on a mid-drive than on a hub motor covering the same route with the same hills. Add the optional second battery and you have all-day range deep in the bush.
The torque sensor completes it. The motor responds to how hard you pedal, not just whether the cranks are spinning. Light pressure on a flat trail gives gentle, silent assist. Hard pressure into a grade gives maximum power. No sudden motor surges that spook game. No on/off jolts. Just smooth, proportional, quiet power.
Key Features
- Bafang 1000W Mid-Drive Motor (M615/G320) — 160 Nm — The same proven Bafang platform used across the Eunorau lineup. 1,500W+ peak output. Drives through the Shimano 9-speed cassette for mechanical advantage on every grade. Torque sensor provides proportional, natural power delivery. Whisper-quiet for hunting.
- 48V / 15Ah Samsung Battery — Dual Battery Design — The included 15Ah pack integrates into the downtube and is removable for indoor charging. The frame has built-in mounting for an optional second battery (15Ah) — bringing total capacity to 30Ah and range up to 80 miles. Buy the second battery when you need it. The frame is ready now.
- Shimano 9-Speed Drivetrain — 11–32T cassette with 42T Eunorau chainring and chain guard. 9 gears gives the mid-drive motor the mechanical range it needs to stay efficient from steep climbs to fast flats. Push-button shifter. A clear step above the 7-speed systems on competing hunting eBikes.
- Kenda Krusade Sport 26″ × 4.0″ Fat Tires — 4-inch-wide tires float over soft ground that would swallow standard tires. Snow, sand, mud, loose gravel, wet leaves, root-covered trails — fat tires find grip where skinny tires sink. The Kenda Krusade Sport tread pattern is optimised for off-road traction with reasonable rolling resistance on hardpack.
- RST Suspension Fork — Absorbs trail impacts, roots, rocks, and washboard logging roads. Combined with the fat tires, the front suspension smooths out terrain that would rattle your teeth on a rigid frame. This is a hardtail design — no rear suspension — which keeps weight and maintenance lower for a purpose-built trail machine.
- 375 lb Payload Capacity — Rider + gear + tree stand + cooler + whatever else you need in the bush. One of the highest payloads in any mid-drive fat tire eBike under $3,500. Heavier riders (250+ lbs) still have real headroom for cargo.
- Eunorau 180mm Hydraulic Disc Brakes — Front and rear with motor cutoff switch. The brake sensor kills motor power the instant you squeeze the lever — critical on a 1000W mid-drive descending a steep, loose trail with cargo. Consistent, fade-free stopping in wet and cold conditions.
- Eunorau BC182 Bluetooth Colour Display — Bright colour screen readable in direct sunlight. Shows speed, battery level, PAS mode, trip data, and odometer. Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with the Eunorau app. Clean cockpit layout.
- 28 mph Top Speed — Class 3 capable. 5 pedal assist levels + thumb throttle for on-demand power. PAS 1–2 for quiet, efficient cruising on the approach. PAS 4–5 for getting out of the bush fast when you need to.
- LED Headlight & Taillight — Battery-powered integrated lights for dawn and dusk rides. No separate batteries to manage.
- 42T Chainring with Guard — The chain guard protects the drivetrain from brush, branches, and trail debris. Essential for off-road riding where exposed chainrings catch everything.
- Two Frame Sizes — 17″ and 19″ frames to fit riders 5’3″ to 6’4″. Adjustable seat height from 31.9″ to 38.6″.
- Three Camo & Tactical Colours — Safari (desert camo), Army Green, and Mamba (dark camo). Every colour option is designed to blend into the bush, not stand out on a bike path.

What You Should Know (Honest Take)
- This is a hardtail — no rear suspension. The RST fork and fat tires absorb a lot, but aggressive rocky trail riding will transmit impacts through the rear. For full suspension with the same Bafang mid-drive, look at the SPECTER-S 3.0 / Hunter X9 ($2,999, inverted fork + DNM rear shock). The FAT-HD 2.0’s hardtail design keeps weight lower and eliminates rear shock maintenance — a trade-off, not a flaw.
- ~80 lbs is heavy. You are not carrying this over a fallen tree. The motor makes the weight disappear on trails, but if your hunting route requires portaging, factor this in.
- 15Ah is modest for a 1000W mid-drive. On aggressive PAS levels with hills, expect 30–50 km from the single battery. The dual battery design fixes this — but the second battery is an extra purchase. Budget for it if your rides regularly exceed 40 km.
- You need to shift gears. This is a mid-drive. It works through the 9-speed cassette. Downshift before hills, upshift on flats, shift under light pedal pressure. If you do not want to shift, do not buy a mid-drive — buy a hub motor fat tire instead. If you are willing to learn (one afternoon), the reward is a ride that no hub motor can match on hills and varied terrain.
- 1000W exceeds Canada’s 500W federal limit. The FAT-HD 2.0 is legal on private property, off-road trails, and land with owner permission. It does not meet the federal PAB definition for street-legal classification. Check your provincial rules. Read our Canadian eBike wattage guide →

Who Is the FAT-HD 2.0 For?
- Hunters who need quiet access to remote stands — The Bafang mid-drive is whisper-quiet at low PAS. Fat tires roll over soft ground without sinking. 375 lb payload carries you and your gear. Three camo colours blend into the bush. This is the bike that replaces the ATV on the approach — quieter, cheaper, and it fits on trails where ATVs can’t go.
- Anglers heading to remote lakes and rivers — Dual battery range gets you deep into the backcountry and back. Fat tires handle muddy access roads, sand, and gravel. Strap a rod tube and tackle bag to the optional rear rack.
- Off-road trail riders on mixed terrain — The mid-drive + 9-speed combination handles everything from steep logging roads to flat gravel to snow-packed winter trails. Fat tires provide year-round traction.
- Heavier riders (200+ lbs) who need payload headroom — 375 lbs is generous. A 250 lb rider still has 125 lbs left for gear, rack, and cargo.
- Canadian winter riders on snow and ice — 4-inch fat tires on snow are what this bike was designed for. The wide contact patch floats where standard tires cut through and bog down. See our winter eBike guide →
- Rural property owners — Farm roads, fence lines, woodlot paths, creek crossings. The FAT-HD 2.0 handles all of it without the fuel, noise, and maintenance of an ATV.
Who it’s NOT for: Riders who want rear suspension for aggressive rocky trails (look at the SPECTER-S 3.0 instead). Urban commuters who need street-legal compliance (1000W exceeds Canada’s 500W PAB limit). Riders who do not want to shift gears (buy a hub motor). Apartment dwellers who need to carry their bike up stairs (~80 lbs is too heavy for daily carries).

Choose the Flash 1000W for maximum payload (440 lbs), triple battery expansion, and the most versatile utility platform. Choose the SPECTER-S 3.0 for full suspension off-road with an inverted fork and SRAM 11-speed. See our full hunting eBike guide →
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the FAT-HD 2.0 legal to ride in Canada?
The 1000W mid-drive exceeds Canada’s federal 500W limit for power-assisted bicycles. The FAT-HD 2.0 is legal on private property, off-road trails, and land with owner permission. It does not meet the federal PAB definition for street-legal classification. Many riders use similar bikes on public roads, but we always recommend checking your provincial rules. What’s the real range?
With the single 15Ah battery: expect 40–65 km (25–40 mi) depending on terrain, PAS level, rider weight, and how well you shift gears. Mid-drive range is directly tied to gear selection — staying in the right gear keeps the motor efficient. With the optional second battery (30Ah total): Eunorau rates up to 130 km (80 mi). Real-world off-road range with hills will be lower.
What is the difference between the FAT-HD 2.0 and the SPECTER-S 3.0?
Both use the Bafang 1000W mid-drive with 160 Nm. The key differences: the SPECTER-S 3.0 has full suspension (inverted 140 mm fork + DNM rear shock), SRAM NX 11-speed, and a more aggressive trail geometry. The FAT-HD 2.0 is a hardtail with Shimano 9-speed, a simpler design, and lower weight (~80 lbs vs ~110 lbs). Choose the FAT-HD for a lighter, lower-maintenance hunting machine. Choose the SPECTER-S for aggressive full-suspension trail riding.
Do I need to shift gears?
Yes. This is a mid-drive eBike. The motor drives through the Shimano 9-speed cassette. Downshift before hills, upshift on flats, shift under light pedal pressure. If you do not want to shift, a hub motor fat tire eBike is a better choice. If you learn to shift (one afternoon), the reward is a ride that no hub motor can match on hills and varied terrain.
Can I add a second battery later?
Yes. The frame has built-in mounting points for the optional second battery (15Ah). Buy the single battery now, add the second when your rides demand more range. Total capacity with both: 30Ah / up to 80 miles rated.
How heavy is it?
~80–82 lbs. The 1000W mid-drive, 15Ah battery, and heavy-duty frame add weight. The motor makes it disappear on trails, but you are not carrying this bike over obstacles. Plan your routes accordingly.
Which frame size should I get?
17″ for riders 5’3″–5’10″. 19″ for riders 5’10″–6’4″. Seat height adjusts from 31.9″ to 38.6″. When in between sizes, choose the smaller frame for more standover clearance on rough terrain.
How do I finance this?
Multiple options at checkout: Klarna Pay-in-4 (0% interest, 4 biweekly payments), Shop Pay Instalments (0% interest, no credit check), or PayPlan by RBC for monthly payments over 3–60 months. Full financing guide →
