Addmotor Citytri E‑310: a Folding Electric Trike With a 35 cm Step-Over, a Rear Differential and a 48 V 20 Ah UL-Certified Battery

The Addmotor Citytri E‑310 is a folding, step-through electric tricycle for adults: two rear wheels joined by a differential, a seat with a backrest, a rear basket, and a frame that folds to 115 × 86 × 72.9 cm on the Standard. Addmotor Canada lists a 500 W rear-drive motor (1,100 W peak, 90 N·m), a 48 V, 20 Ah battery certified to UL 2271, a trike certified to UL 2849, a 32 km/h top speed and up to 145 km of range in the lowest assist level.

It comes in two sizes. The Standard (20″ front and 18″ rear wheels) steps over at 35 cm and fits riders 155–175 cm (5′1″–5′9″); the Plus (22″/20″ wheels, an upright handlebar) steps over at 40.6 cm and fits 160–185 cm (5′3″–6′1″). At 39 kg with the battery, it is the lightest of the four Addmotor trikes we compare below, and Addmotor rates it for a 127 kg rider plus 36 kg of cargo.

Who it suits: riders who want three wheels for balance, a low step for stiff hips or knees, and a trike that folds down for an SUV or a small storage room. Addmotor’s own words: “Perfect for seniors, those with mobility challenges”.

We have ridden it: our test rides take it over potholes and across a field in Ontario. The frame stayed rigid under a rider of about 100 kg and the torque came on instantly; the trade-offs were front suspension only and a fit that ran small for our co-founder, Milad Ghobadibeygvand, at 185 cm. Our Citytri E-310 review covers how it rides, and this page has every figure Addmotor publishes, both size charts and what comes in the box.

🎁 Free with your Citytri: the Citytri Pack

Every Citytri E‑310 from Zeus ships with the same free accessory pack Addmotor Canada includes: mirrors, the rear rack (the rear basket), a cleaning tool and a bike pump. Addmotor values the pack at $224. The battery and charger are in the box too; the front basket is not included.

⚠️ Canadian legal note

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial and territorial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s 30 km/h ended on 19 October 2026).

Addmotor Canada lists the Citytri E‑310’s motor at 500 W and its top speed at 32 km/h, the numbers those rules are built around. Its 1,100 W figure is peak output; how a province treats peak power depends on its own wording (Saskatchewan’s regulation, for one, measures the motor’s continuous power rating). Some provinces also restrict throttles, set minimum ages or require helmets, and the definitions in Saskatchewan and Yukon say outright that an e-bike can have up to three wheels. Check your province before you ride: Canadian e-bike laws by province →

The Citytri we sell is Addmotor’s Canadian version, rated 500 W. Addmotor sells a 750 W Citytri on its US store, so US reviews and videos of that trike quote different power figures.

Good to know before you order

Standard or Plus? Go by height first: Standard for 155–175 cm, Plus for 160–185 cm. Between 160 and 175 cm either fits; pick the Standard for the lowest step and folded height (72.9 cm against 94.7 cm), the Plus for bigger wheels and an upright bar. The dimensions chart below has both.

Delivery: a carrier needs truck access; where an address is too narrow for a truck, the carrier may ask you to collect the trike at a location it names. Tracking is emailed as soon as it ships.

Watch Our Citytri E‑310 Test Rides

We have taken the Citytri E‑310 off the pavement twice. In our review, Milad rides it over potholes beside the rail tracks and then off the path; in our first test, he crosses a field in Ontario where no path has been worn. What he found is under the review.

Our review: “Addmotor CityTri E-310 Electric Trike Review | 3-Wheel E-Bike for Seniors in Canada | 90 Mile Range” (4:59, uploaded 26 September 2025) on the Zeus eBikes YouTube channel.

What the rides showed

  • The folding frame stayed rigid. Riding at about 220 lb (100 kg), inside Addmotor’s 127 kg rider rating, Milad says at 2:51 of our review: “The frame is super rigid despite it being a folding trike.” Off the path in the first test (1:33): “the frame is holding up just fine.”
  • Instant torque. “You see the instant torque, you just feel it. It just pushes you forward” (review, 2:10).
  • Suspension is up front only, so take potholes slowly. The 80 mm fork is the Citytri’s only suspension (“I don’t have rear suspension,” review, 1:51), and he felt the potholes: “That hurts. I got to take it easy” (2:16).
  • Tall riders: size up, then call us. Milad is 185 cm (6′1″) and calls the trike “a little bit small for me” (review, 1:21). He could not find a comfortable pedalling position, so he rode on the throttle. Addmotor sizes the Standard to 175 cm and the Plus to 185 cm, and our US sister store, RedTail eBikes, found the Standard tight at 6′1″ and the Plus “noticeably roomier” (RedTail’s Citytri fit test →).
  • The parking brake takes three moves. Pull the brake lever, press the button on it, then let the lever go (review, 1:03).
  • Capped at 32 km/h. “This one is limited to 32 km per hour” (first test, 1:44), the top speed Addmotor Canada lists.
  • Grip off the path. In a field that is “not a path which has been used by other people” (first test, 1:08), the rear drive kept pulling: “You get so much traction” (2:13). He held back where he could not see the ground ahead (1:15), and so should you.
  • What came in the box. “It comes with the rear basket and the mirrors and all that included, but not the front basket” (first test, 0:35), the same as Addmotor’s box list below.

About the numbers in the videos: Milad quotes 1,400 W peak and 96 N·m, adding “I might be wrong.” 1,400 W peak is the figure Addmotor’s UL 2849 article gives its US 750 W motor, and Addmotor publishes 90 N·m. Addmotor Canada lists the Citytri at 500 W (1,100 W peak, 90 N·m), the figures in our specifications. The review’s YouTube title quotes a 90-mile range: Addmotor’s 145 km at assist level 1.

Our first test: “First test of the Addmotor Citytri E-310 Electric Tricycle” (2:41, uploaded 11 June 2025), in a field by the rail tracks in Ontario.

Our short: “CityTri E-310 Electric Trike Test | Canada” (0:59, uploaded 20 January 2026).

What the Combination Does for You

  • No balancing at a stop. Three wheels stand on their own at a stop, the parking brake holds the trike on a slope, and the differential lets the two rear wheels turn at different speeds through a corner, which Addmotor says keeps turning smooth.
  • A low step for stiff joints. 35 cm on the Standard is lower than two of the three other Addmotor trikes we compare below; only the SpytanX (28.4 cm) is lower. The Grandtan II’s is 44.5 cm and the Arisetan II’s 67.8 cm.
  • It fits where you keep it. Folded, the Standard is 115 × 86 × 72.9 cm; Addmotor says it fits in the trunk of a car, and its answer to a buyer’s question is that it fits most SUVs. At 39 kg, plan on two people to lift it.
  • 960 Wh on the lightest frame. 48 V × 20 Ah is 960 Wh by our arithmetic, the same capacity as the other three trikes in the comparison below.

Key Features

  • 500 W rear-drive motor (1,100 W peak, 90 N·m) — the motor drives the rear, and Addmotor says rear-mounted motors give better traction, stability and handling than the front-motor trikes it stopped making. A half-twist throttle and 7 levels of pedal assist share the job.
  • 48 V, 20 Ah Samsung battery, UL 2271 — Addmotor describes it as UL-certified for the US and Canada and rates it at up to 145 km in PAS 1. It charges on the 48 V, 2 A charger with a magnetic 5-pin plug.
  • UL 2849 trike system — Addmotor says UL 2849 tests the whole electrical system (motor, controller, battery and charger) against heat, overload and short circuits. It matters most if the trike is stored or charged indoors.
  • Folding step-through frame (7020 + 6061 aluminum) — a 35 cm step on the Standard, and a fold Addmotor says fits tight spaces or a car trunk.
  • Rear differential and parking brake — the differential lets the rear wheels turn at different speeds in a corner; the parking brake holds the trike when you stop on a hill.
  • Seat with an adjustable backrest — a lower seating position with a backrest that adjusts up and down, per Addmotor.
  • 80 mm suspension fork — front suspension to take the edge off curbs, cracks and gravel paths.
  • Tektro mechanical disc brakes on all three wheels — cable-operated discs on both rear wheels and the front.
  • Lights on the main battery — a headlight, and a 5-in-1 taillight with brake light and turn signals.
  • 5-inch LCD display, 25 A controller, KMC stainless chain, double-wall rims — Addmotor’s parts list for the drivetrain and electronics.

What’s Included

Addmotor says the Citytri arrives 85% pre-assembled. In the box, per Addmotor’s own answer to “What’s inside the box?”:

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Cadence sensing. The assist comes in when the pedals turn and holds the level you set, whatever force you put in. The Grandtan II, Arisetan II and SpytanX use torque sensors, which follow your effort.
  2. Cable disc brakes. Tektro mechanical discs on each wheel: plan on adjusting the cables and pads as the pads wear. Of the four trikes on this page, only the SpytanX has hydraulic discs.
  3. Front suspension only, and keep an eye on the tires. The 80 mm fork is all the suspension there is, and on our pothole run Milad had to take it easy. Two owners also write of tires losing air: one in a review on this page, one in an answer on Addmotor’s US product Q&A. Check the pressure before you ride; the Citytri Pack includes a pump.
  4. A two-person lift, and a height ceiling. At 39 kg it is the lightest of these four trikes, and still a lift for two people. Above 185 cm neither size fits Addmotor’s chart: the Grandtan II (to 193 cm) and Arisetan II (to 198 cm) do.

If those fit how you ride (errands, paved paths, neighbourhood loops, a trike that folds away), the Citytri E‑310 is the lightest of the four Addmotor trikes compared on this page, and one of the two that Addmotor describes as folding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the Citytri E‑310

Is the Addmotor Citytri E‑310 500 W or 750 W?

500 W. The Citytri we sell is Addmotor’s Canadian version: 500 W rear drive, 1,100 W peak, 90 N·m. Addmotor’s US store lists a 750 W Citytri, which is why US reviews quote more power. Both use the same 48 V 20 Ah battery. In our own test videos Milad quotes 1,400 W peak and 96 N·m: 1,400 W peak is the figure Addmotor’s UL 2849 article gives its US 750 W motor, and Addmotor publishes 90 N·m. Why 500 W matters in Canada →

What’s the difference between the Citytri Standard and Plus?

Wheel size, fit and handlebar. The Standard has 20″ front and 18″ rear wheels, a regular handlebar, a 35 cm step-over and fits 155–175 cm riders; the Plus has 22″/20″ wheels, an upright handlebar, a 40.6 cm step-over and fits 160–185 cm. Addmotor says the bigger wheels make the Plus better for taller riders. Motor, battery and brakes are the same. Compare both sizes →

Does the Citytri E‑310 fold, and will it fit in my car?

Yes. Folded, the Standard measures 115 × 86 × 72.9 cm and the Plus 124.5 × 87.6 × 94.7 cm. Addmotor says it fits in the trunk of a car, and its answer to a buyer’s question about transport is that it fits most SUVs. It weighs 39 kg with the battery, so plan on two people to lift it, and measure your cargo space against the folded size.

Is the Citytri a good electric trike for seniors?

Addmotor designed it for that rider: a low step-through frame (35 cm on the Standard), a seat with a backrest, three wheels that stand on their own, and a parking brake. Its own description reads “Perfect for seniors, those with mobility challenges”. Check fit first: the Standard suits 155–175 cm riders. E-bikes for seniors →

How far does it go on a charge?

Addmotor rates it at up to 145 km (90 mi) in pedal-assist level 1, the lowest of seven. More assist or the throttle, cargo, hills, wind and cold all shorten that. For a loaded trike on rolling ground, our US sister store, RedTail eBikes, works this 960 Wh pack out at about 61 km at 25 Wh per mile and 43 km at 35 Wh per mile, an estimate rather than a measured figure (RedTail’s Citytri range working →). In deep cold, plan on about half. Our e-bike battery guide →

How much weight can it carry?

Addmotor rates it for a 127 kg (280 lb) rider plus 36 kg (80 lb) of cargo. The included rear basket measures 45.7 × 40.6 × 20.3 cm. For a heavier rider, the Grandtan II is rated 159 kg + 45 kg.

What comes in the box, and are the baskets included?

The trike, the battery and charger, and the free Citytri Pack: mirrors, the rear rack (the rear basket), a cleaning tool and a bike pump. Addmotor says the front basket is not included. It arrives 85% pre-assembled.

How hard is assembly?

Addmotor says it arrives 85% pre-assembled and points buyers to its assembly video (on this page) for the rest. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video, and you can call us at 1-866-938-7580.

Does it have a throttle, and can I ride without pedalling?

Yes. It has a half-twist variable-speed throttle alongside 7 levels of pedal assist, and Addmotor’s answer to a buyer is that you can ride on the throttle alone. Throttle rules differ by province. Canadian e-bike laws →

How many gears does the Citytri have?

Addmotor’s Canadian spec table lists no derailleur or gear count (its Grandtan II and SpytanX pages list Shimano 7-speed gearing). Our US sister store, RedTail eBikes, lists the US 750 W Citytri as single-speed (RedTail’s specification table →), and on Addmotor’s US product Q&A an answer posted by an Addmotor customer says one speed. If gears matter to you, call us before you buy.

Will the seat and backrest work for a taller rider?

Addmotor says the backrest adjusts up and down. The Plus raises the saddle range to 78.7–96.5 cm and fits riders to 185 cm (6′1″). At that height Milad found the trike he tested “a little bit small” and rode it on the throttle, and RedTail eBikes found the Standard tight and the Plus “noticeably roomier” (RedTail’s fit test →), so near 185 cm, order the Plus and call us first. Above that, Addmotor’s chart points to a bigger trike, such as the Arisetan II M-360 (170–198 cm).

Is the Citytri safe to store and charge indoors?

Addmotor lists the trike as certified to UL 2849, which tests the whole electrical system (motor, controller, battery and charger), and the battery to UL 2271. Charge it with the supplied 48 V 2 A charger. No recall of the Citytri or any other Addmotor product is on file with Health Canada or the US CPSC: we searched both recall databases on 28 October 2026 (Health Canada’s search for Addmotor →). Where does it ship, and how long does delivery take?

Free shipping across Canada. It ships within 2–10 business days of order confirmation, by FedEx, UPS or Purolator, and tracking is emailed when it ships. It cannot ship to Yukon, the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, and an adult (18+) must sign for it at delivery.

What warranty comes with the Citytri E‑310?

Addmotor covers the frame, the motor and the 20 Ah battery for 2 years each, and original parts for 1 year; its full terms, with what is not covered, are under Warranty and Zeus Care above. Coverage is for the original owner and does not transfer. Zeus files and follows up every claim with Addmotor for you, and your first month of Zeus Care is included; plans for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years cost $119, $229, $339 or $599 (CAD, October 2026). Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you.

Are there reviews of the Citytri E‑310?

Yes. We filmed two test rides ourselves, both on this page: our review and our first test, over potholes and across a field in Ontario. Our Citytri E-310 review covers how it rides, and customer reviews are on this page. Our US sister store, RedTail eBikes, has published a ridden review of the US 750 W version; other video reviews online test that version too, so their power figures will differ from this page.

Can I ride the Citytri E‑310 in a Canadian winter?

Yes, with planning. Cold shrinks range for as long as the battery is cold: Battery University says a battery that gives 100% of its capacity at 27 °C typically delivers only 50% at −18 °C, so on a day that cold plan on about 22–31 km from the real-world estimate (our arithmetic). Never charge it below freezing: Battery University’s charging guide says “consumer-grade lithium-ion batteries cannot be charged below 0°C (32°F)”, so bring the battery inside and let it warm up first. Store it indoors as well: Addmotor’s warranty does not cover battery damage from “exposure to unsuitable environments such as but not limited to humidity or extreme temperatures”. The Citytri runs 2.4″ tires and cable disc brakes, so ride slower on packed snow and ice. Our winter battery advice →
