A 29-Inch Hardtail With a Torque Sensor and a 100 mm Suntour Fork, at Under 30 kg.

Taubik calls the Westridge 29T a 29-inch “hardtail electric mountain bike built for adventure”. It lists a 500W rear hub motor with 65 Nm, a torque sensor, a 48V Samsung battery, Kenda Booster Pro 29×2.4″ tires, an SR Suntour XCM fork with 100 mm of travel, Shimano Acera 8-speed gearing and Zoom hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors.

It is light for a 29er: 29.7 kg on Taubik’s page (the same page figure as the Alps), 64 lb in the brochure and 28.8 kg in the manual. The manual and brochure add a thumb throttle; a rear rack and fenders are optional extras in Taubik’s brochure.

Taubik’s documents also set its limits: a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page), and a manual written for 0 °C to 40 °C. Both are below, with each of Taubik’s figures wherever its documents differ.

What the Combination Does on Trails and Streets

  • Assist that follows your legs. A torque sensor adds power in proportion to pedal force; the manual lists motor cut-off when you brake. Motor and sensor types, explained →
  • Roll over more. 29″ wheels on 2.4″ Kenda Booster Pro tires, with 20–40 psi in the manual.
  • Front suspension you can set. Taubik says the SR Suntour forks are “designed for a smooth, adjustable performance across all terrains”.
  • Lighter to handle. Under 30 kg by every Taubik figure, which matters on a bike rack and on stairs.

Key Features

  • 500W rear hub, 65 Nm — “500W Sutto (65 NM)” on Taubik’s page and brochure; the manual lists a “Bafang 500W/48V Hub”.
  • Torque sensor — Per Taubik’s page, brochure and manual.
  • Thumb throttle — Per the manual and brochure. Pedal assist vs throttle →
  • 48V Samsung battery — 15Ah “UL Certified” on the page; 14.7Ah (21700 cells) “Certified in Accordance with UL2271” in the brochure; 14.7Ah with BMS, “UL approved” in the manual. Charges in 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
  • Kenda Booster Pro 29×2.4″ tires — On 29″ double-walled spoked rims.
  • SR Suntour XCM fork, 100 mm — “SR Suntour XCM-PM-DS-HLO 29 TS-100mm Travel” on the page; the manual says “Suntour hydraulic suspension”.
  • Shimano Acera 8-speed — RD-M360 derailleur and CS-HG200-8 cassette, trigger shifter.
  • Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
  • Lights — Headlight and a dry-cell rear light, per Taubik’s page and brochure; kickstand per the manual.
  • 6061 aluminum frame, 17″ — Sumite SH-D142 30.9 × 254 mm seatpost.

How It Arrives

Taubik’s Westridge 29T manual says the bike is assembled, inspected and tuned at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled:

  • Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
  • Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
  • Taubik’s manual for this model: Westridge 29T manual (PDF) →

The manual recommends two people for assembly. Taubik’s manual for this model says those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”: ask us how that is handled for your order before your first ride. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Its manual draws the line at 0 °C. Not intended for use below freezing, battery charging only between 0 °C and 40 °C, and the warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to snow, storage in extreme cold and salt corrosion. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it.
  2. Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb).
  3. Trails, but not hard ones. Taubik’s page speaks of “rugged trails”; the manual says the bike is designed “to be used on a regular road by a single person” and that extreme off-road use and jumping will damage it. We read that as gravel, paths and easy trails.
  4. No rack or fenders in the box. Taubik’s brochure lists both as optional extras.
  5. Taubik’s documents disagree on details. Motor Sutto (page, brochure) or Bafang (manual); battery 15Ah (page) or 14.7Ah (brochure, manual); weight 29.7 kg, 64 lb or 28.8 kg. Its dimension chart prints the same seven figures as Taubik’s chart for the full-suspension Alps, so ask us if a few millimetres matter. We show each.

Inside those limits it is a light, simple 29-inch hardtail with a torque sensor, a real fork and a throttle, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Westridge 29T weigh in pounds?

Taubik prints three figures: 29.7 kg on its page (about 65.5 lb), 64 lb in its brochure, and 28.8 kg (about 63.5 lb) net in its manual. By the page figures it ties with the Alps; by the manual figures it is the lightest of the three Taubik bikes compared below.

Is there a manual?

Yes. Taubik posts one English and French manual for the Westridge 29T: Westridge 29T manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar loosened or removed, that those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”, and it recommends two people for assembly. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

Is it legal on Canadian roads?

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). The Westridge 29T has a 500W motor, 32 km/h in Taubik’s spec table and manual, and working pedals. Throttle rules differ by province (British Columbia, for one, sets conditions on how a throttle engages on its standard e-bikes), so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

Which motor does it have?

Taubik’s page and brochure list a “500W Sutto (65 NM)” motor; its manual lists a “Bafang 500W/48V Hub”. Both say 500W on a 48V system, in the rear hub. Ask us which motor your bike carries if the brand matters to you.

How far does it go on a charge?

Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. Its manual gives 70–110 km with pedal assist and 35–40 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was measured with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures. A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger. Our e-bike battery guide →

Can I ride it in winter?

Taubik’s manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than 0°C or above ambient temperatures of 40°C”, and to charge the battery only between 0 °C and 40 °C. Its warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it. Among the Taubik bikes compared below, the manuals for the Alps and the Westridge 4T list use down to −20 °C. Our winter e-bike guide →

What is its weight limit?

Taubik’s page says 286 lb weight capacity; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). Plan around the lower one. E-bikes for heavier riders →

Where are Taubik bikes made?

Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us.

What warranty does it come with?

Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
