Eunorau Meta 275 2.0 Step-Through Commuter Electric Bike
Eunorau Meta 275 2.0 — The 27.5″ Step-Through Commuter Built to Carry Speed
The Meta 275 2.0 is the larger-wheel sibling in Eunorau’s step-through commuter line — built for riders who cover real distance. Where the Meta 26 uses 26″ wheels and wide 3.0″ tyres for the plushest possible cushion on rough pavement, the Meta 275 rolls on 27.5″ wheels with 2.6″ wide commuter tyres. The bigger diameter carries momentum better and rolls over road seams, expansion joints, and curb transitions with less interruption — it feels planted and smooth at commuting speed, which is exactly what you want when the ride is long.
Underneath, it shares the platform that makes the Meta line worth owning. A true torque sensor — not a cadence sensor, not a switchable compromise — so the 500W assist feels like your own legs, smooth off the line and proportional into a hill. A 48V 15Ah LG-cell battery (720 Wh) that’s dual-battery ready: add a matched second pack and you roughly double the range, so an after-dark ride home never gets close to empty. Hydraulic disc brakes with motor cutoff for confident, all-weather stopping. A rear LED that brightens when you brake, so drivers behind you get a real signal in the dark. And a low step-through frame you step onto rather than swing a leg over.
It’s also one of the most road-legal-friendly bikes Eunorau builds: 500W nominal, capped at 32 km/h, it ships meeting Canada’s federal Power-Assisted Bicycle definition with no configuration required. Aluminium 6061 step-through frame. 68.4 lbs / 31 kg. 286 lb (130 kg) payload. Recommended for riders 5’6″–6’1″. UL certified. Five colours. Free Canada-wide shipping.

⚠️ Ships PAB-compliant — out of the box. The Meta 275 2.0 ships speed-limited to 32 km/h (20 mph) with a 500W nominal motor and functional pedals, which meets Canada’s federal Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB) definition (Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations SOR/2000-180). Eunorau labels this “Class 2” — that’s the US classification system; PAB is the Canadian legal framework, and the Meta 275 meets it with no setup. Eunorau lists the bike as speed-limited and unlockable; keep it in the 32 km/h setting for public roads — raising the limit takes the bike outside PAB compliance and is intended for private property. Meta 275 2.0 vs Meta 26: Which Wheel Size Is Right for You?
The Meta 275 2.0 and the Meta 26 are the same bike underneath — same 500W motor, same 55 Nm, same torque sensor, same 720 Wh LG battery, same dual-battery option, same hydraulic brakes, same brake-activated rear light, both PAB-compliant at 32 km/h. The only meaningful difference is the wheel-and-tyre package, and it changes the character of the ride:
| Meta 275 2.0 (this bike) | Meta 26 | |
|---|---|---|
| Wheels | 27.5″ | 26″ |
| Tyres | 2.6″ wide commuter | 3.0″ wide commuter |
| Ride character | Carries speed; smooth and planted over distance | Plushest cushion on rough, broken pavement |
| Recommended rider height | 5’6″–6’1″ | 5’4″–6’3″ |
| Best for | Longer commutes, road miles, riders who want a larger-wheel feel | Shorter/rougher routes, riders who want maximum comfort and a broader fit range |
The takeaway: pick the Meta 275 2.0 if your commute is longer or faster and you want the smooth, planted feel of a larger 27.5″ wheel. Pick the Meta 26 if your roads are rough and you want the softest cushion, or if you’re a shorter rider who wants the broader 5’4″ fit. You can’t go wrong on the powertrain — it’s identical.
Why the Meta 275 2.0 Is Built for the Distance Commute
Ask anyone who’s owned a commuter eBike for a year what actually limits them, and it’s rarely the top speed. It’s two things: how the bike feels over a long ride, and the quiet range anxiety on the way home. The Meta 275 2.0 is built to answer both.
The 27.5″ wheels are the headline. A larger wheel has a shallower approach angle to every bump, so it rolls over cracks, frost heaves, and road seams with less of a jolt and carries its momentum better between pedal strokes. Over a few kilometres that adds up to a ride that feels smoother and less tiring than a small-wheel bike — the reason 27.5″ is the default wheel size on modern commuters and trail bikes alike. Pair that with 2.6″ wide commuter tyres — enough air volume for grip and comfort on cracked pavement and gravel shoulders, narrow enough to roll efficiently — and you get a bike that’s happy covering real road miles.
The dual-battery capability removes the second limit. The standard 720 Wh LG pack handles a normal day; a matched second pack roughly doubles capacity to about 1,440 Wh, enough that even a long day with errands and an after-dark ride home never gets close to empty. You don’t buy the second battery to ride further in a day — you buy it so you stop thinking about the battery at all.
Everything else on the bike supports the same idea — a commuter you can live with for years:
- A torque sensor that makes 500W feel like more. Because the assist is proportional to how hard you pedal, the Meta doesn’t waste energy in clumsy on/off bursts the way a cadence-sensor bike does. It feels stronger and rides more efficiently than the motor wattage alone suggests.
- A rear light that talks to the cars behind you. The integrated rear LED brightens under braking. On a dark ride home, that’s the difference between a driver guessing and a driver knowing you’re slowing.
- Hydraulic disc brakes with motor cutoff. Consistent stopping power in rain, heat, and cold, and the assist cuts the instant you touch a lever.
- A step-through frame for the dozens of times a day you mount and dismount. No leg-swing over a high bar. Step on, ride, plant both feet at the light, step off.
Key Features
- 27.5″ Wheels + 27.5″ × 2.6″ Wide Commuter Tyres — The larger wheel carries momentum and rolls over road imperfections more smoothly than a 26″ wheel, for a planted feel at commuting speed. The 2.6″ tyre width adds grip and comfort on cracked pavement and gravel shoulders while still rolling efficiently for distance. Mounted on durable black alloy rims.
- 48V 500W Rear Hub Motor — 55 Nm Peak Torque — Smooth, quiet hub-drive power sized exactly to Canada’s 500W nominal PAB limit. Twist-and-go simplicity with no gear-shifting required to get moving. 55 Nm is modest on the steepest hills under a heavy load — this is a flat-to-rolling commuter, not a mountain climber — but on the urban and suburban routes it’s built for, it’s confident and effortless. Hub vs mid-drive explained →
- True Torque Sensor — The motor responds to pedal force, not just pedal motion, delivering natural, proportional, efficient assist. No surge off the line, no on/off feel. At this price point most commuters use a cadence sensor; the Meta 275 uses a real torque sensor. Pedal-assist vs throttle →
- 48V 15Ah LG-Cell Removable Battery — 720 Wh, Dual-Battery Ready — LG cells are premium lithium-ion. Removable for indoor charging and security. The standout: the Meta accepts an optional matched second battery to roughly double capacity (to about 1,440 Wh) and roughly double range — Eunorau rates the dual-battery setup at up to 100 miles / 160 km in best-case conditions. Long-range eBike guide →
- Hydraulic Disc Brakes — 180mm Rotors, Motor Cutoff — Hydraulic stopping power with strong, consistent feel in rain, heat, and cold. The motor cutoff kills assist the instant you squeeze a lever — an important safety feature on a throttle-equipped bike. 180mm rotors give the thermal mass to stop a loaded bike confidently.
- Integrated LED Lighting + Brake-Activated Rear Light — Front LED headlight for seeing and being seen. The rear LED brightens under braking, giving following drivers a genuine slow-down signal — the single most useful lighting feature on a bike ridden home after dark.
- BC182 LCD Display + Bluetooth + Eunorau GO App — Backlit display showing speed, battery state, assist level, trip and odometer. Bluetooth connects to the Eunorau GO app for ride data and settings. This is also where the speed limit is configured — keep it at the 32 km/h PAB setting for public roads.
- Shimano ASLM3157RC 7-Speed Shifter + Shimano 9-Speed Derailleur — 42T Chainring, 170mm Forged Alloy Crank — Reliable, easy-to-service Shimano gearing with enough range for flats, headwinds, and moderate hills. Forged alloy crank is stronger and lighter than cast alternatives. 48V 20A controller manages power delivery.
- Front Suspension Fork — Smooths out potholes, expansion joints, and curb drops at the front wheel, working with the wide 2.6″ tyres and large 27.5″ wheels to keep the ride comfortable on rough urban surfaces.
- Aluminium 6061 Step-Through Frame — Low, open frame for easy mounting and confident standover. Aluminium means no rust risk through Canadian winter storage. Rated for a 286 lb (130 kg) payload.
- UL Certified — Third-party safety certified for peace of mind in apartments, condos, and shared bike rooms.
- Five Colours — Steel Blue, Deep Crimson, Dark Charcoal, Pastel Pink, and Alpine White.

What You Should Know Before Buying (Honest Take)
- 55 Nm is a flat-to-rolling commuter, not a hill-climber. The Meta is smooth and confident on city streets, bike paths, and moderate inclines. If your daily route includes long, steep grades — or you’re a heavier rider regularly tackling sustained climbs — a higher-torque bike will feel less strained. Know your route before you buy. Wattage & torque guide →
- If your roads are genuinely rough, the Meta 26 is plusher. The 27.5″ × 2.6″ setup is smooth and fast, but the wider 3.0″ tyres on the Meta 26 give a bigger air cushion for badly broken pavement. If maximum comfort matters more than carrying speed, choose the 26. If distance and a planted ride matter more, the 275 is the one.
- The single battery is enough for most; the second battery is the range insurance. If your commute is predictable and short, you may never need the second pack. The dual-battery capability earns its place for riders with unpredictable days and after-dark rides home. Buy it for that flexibility, not because you’ll drain 1,440 Wh daily.
- It’s effectively a 7-speed drivetrain. Eunorau pairs a Shimano ASLM3157RC 7-speed shifter with a 9-speed-capable derailleur on a 7-speed freewheel — in practice you have seven gears, which is plenty for flat-to-rolling commuting. Riders who want a wider gear range for steep terrain or fast descents will notice the ceiling. For its intended use, it’s simple and reliable.
- 68.4 lbs / 31 kg is normal for the class, but it’s still a real lift. Removing the battery drops a few kilos for carrying. Plan for ground-floor storage, an elevator, or a sturdy rack rather than hauling it up multiple flights regularly.
- The fork is a basic suspension fork, not an air fork. It takes the edge off bumps and pairs well with the large wheels and wide tyres, but it’s not a tunable air fork. For a city commuter, that’s the right call at this level — less to maintain — just don’t expect trail-bike plushness.
- Configure the speed setting before public-road riding. The Meta ships at the 32 km/h PAB-compliant setting, which is exactly where you want it for Canadian roads. Eunorau lists the bike as unlockable; if you ever raise the limit, it leaves PAB compliance and is for private property only. Keep it at 32 km/h for the commute.
- UL certified — we state what we can verify. The Meta 275 2.0 is UL certified. Where a competitor publishes a specific standard like full-system UL 2849, we’ll say so; for the Meta, Eunorau states “UL certified” without naming a specific standard number, so that is exactly what we claim. Call us if your building requires a specific certification number on file.
Will It Fit You? — Sizing & Fit

Who Is the Eunorau Meta 275 2.0 For?
- Distance commuters who want a smooth, planted ride. The 27.5″ wheels carry speed and roll over road imperfections with less jolt — the pick when the commute is longer or faster.
- Riders who ride home after dark. The dual-battery option plus the brake-activated rear light make the Meta the no-anxiety daily driver. Ride in, run errands, ride home late — the range is there and the cars behind you can see you slow down.
- Riders who want easy mounting. The low step-through frame is easier on hips and knees and lets you plant both feet at every light. A strong fit for commuters who mount and dismount all day. Best step-thru eBikes Canada →
- Buyers who want a torque-sensor ride without overspending. A true torque sensor at this level is uncommon. If you’ve ridden a cadence-sensor bike and disliked the on/off feel, the Meta will feel like a different category of bike. Best urban eBikes Canada →
- Riders who want a road-legal eBike with no setup. Ships at 500W nominal and 32 km/h — meeting Canada’s federal PAB definition out of the box. No configuration, no grey area on the default setting. Canadian eBike laws →
- Year-round Canadian commuters. Aluminium frame (no rust), hydraulic brakes that work in the cold, large wheels for stable road riding, and a removable battery for warm indoor charging. Winter eBike guide →
Who it’s NOT for:
- Riders on very rough roads who want maximum cushion. The wider 3.0″ tyres on the Eunorau Meta 26 → give a plusher ride on badly broken pavement.
- Shorter riders below about 5’6″. The 275’s fit window starts at 5’6″; the Meta 26 → opens the range down to 5’4″.
- Steep-hill climbers and heavy haulers. 55 Nm is modest for sustained steep grades under load. If your commute is genuinely hilly, look at a higher-torque bike. Wattage & torque guide →
- Riders who want maximum tech and connectivity. If turn signals, NFC unlock, phone-finder tracking, and full-system UL 2849 certification are priorities, the Velotric Discover 3 → is the more feature-loaded step-thru.
- Anyone who must carry the bike up stairs daily. 68.4 lbs is a real lift even with the battery out. Plan for ground-floor or elevator storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Meta 275 2.0 and the Meta 26?
Same bike underneath, different wheels and tyres. Both share the 500W motor, 55 Nm, torque sensor, 720 Wh LG battery, dual-battery option, hydraulic brakes, and brake-activated rear light, and both ship PAB-compliant at 32 km/h. The Meta 275 2.0 rolls on larger 27.5″ wheels with 2.6″ tyres — carries speed and rolls smoothly over distance. The Meta 26 rolls on 26″ wheels with wider 3.0″ tyres — a plusher cushion for rough roads, plus a broader 5’4″–6’3″ fit range (the 275 fits 5’6″–6’1″). Choose the 275 for distance and smooth-road speed; the 26 for maximum comfort.
Is the Eunorau Meta 275 2.0 road-legal in Canada?
Yes — out of the box. The Meta 275 2.0 ships with a 500W nominal motor and a 32 km/h (20 mph) speed limit, which is exactly Canada’s federal Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB) definition (Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations SOR/2000-180): max 500W nominal, max 32 km/h assisted speed, functional pedals. The thumb throttle is permitted because it cuts at 32 km/h. Eunorau labels the bike “Class 2” — that’s the US classification system; PAB is the Canadian legal framework, and the Meta 275 meets it with no setup. The bike is listed as unlockable; keep it at 32 km/h for public roads, as raising the limit takes it outside PAB compliance and is intended for private property. Provincial rules (helmet age, where you ride) still apply. Provincial eBike laws →
What is the real range, and how much does the second battery add?
On the single 720 Wh battery: roughly 60–85 km in summer at PAS 1–2 on pavement, or 45–60 km throttle-heavy or on hills (Zeus estimate). Eunorau’s “up to 100 miles / 160 km” figure is a best-case eco number that requires the optional second battery, which roughly doubles capacity (to ~1,440 Wh) and roughly doubles range. Cold-weather loss: ~20% at 0°C, ~30–35% at −10°C. Confirm the current second-battery option by phone before ordering. Long-range eBike guide →
Does it have a torque sensor or a cadence sensor?
A torque sensor. It measures how hard you pedal and delivers assist in proportion — smooth, natural, and efficient, with no on/off surge. A cadence sensor (common at this price) only detects pedal motion and delivers fixed bursts. The Meta 275 shipping with a true torque sensor is a real spec advantage for a commuter at this level. Pedal-assist vs throttle →
Why 27.5″ wheels, and are the 2.6″ tyres fat tyres?
The 27.5″ wheel carries momentum and rolls over bumps and seams more smoothly than a 26″ wheel — it feels planted at road speed, which is why it’s the default size on modern commuters. The 27.5″ × 2.6″ tyres are wide commuter tyres, not true fat tyres (4.0″+) — a generous air cushion for comfort that still rolls efficiently for distance. For the plushest ride on very rough roads, the Meta 26’s 3.0″ tyres are softer; for deep-snow or sand flotation you want a dedicated fat-tyre bike.
Who does the step-through frame fit?
Eunorau recommends the Meta 275 2.0 for riders 5’6″–6’1″ (168–185 cm). The low, open step-through frame is easier on hips and knees, easy to mount in any clothing, and lets you plant both feet at a stop. Shorter riders, or anyone wanting the broader 5’4″–6’3″ fit range, may prefer the Meta 26. Best step-thru eBikes Canada →
Is the battery removable, and how long does it take to charge?
Yes — the 48V 15Ah LG battery is removable for indoor charging and security. The included charger is a 2.0A US-standard smart charger, and expected full charge from empty is roughly 5–7 hours. Always use the supplied Eunorau charger; if you add a second battery, use Eunorau’s matched pack and charger.
