Why a Step-Thru Frame Changes Everything for Cargo
A cargo eBike is only useful if you can get on and off it while carrying things. The X7 Pro’s step-over top tube requires you to swing your leg over the frame — doable when you’re unloaded, but difficult when you are holding a bag of groceries, steadying a child in the rear seat, or dismounting at an intersection with traffic behind you. At 110 lbs, dismounting a step-over frame under load is not just inconvenient — it is a safety concern.
The X5 Pro’s step-thru frame eliminates the top tube entirely. You step through and sit. You stand and step off. You can plant both feet flat on the ground while straddling the bike without fighting frame geometry. Here is the physics: a larger rotor gives the brake caliper more leverage. More leverage means the same amount of hand pressure produces more stopping force. The 4-piston hydraulic calipers (identical to the X7 Pro) spread that force across a larger pad surface, reducing heat build-up on long descents. When the bike weighs 110 lbs, the rider weighs 200 lbs, and the rear passenger and cargo add another 40 lbs — that is 350 lbs of mass that needs to stop from 50 km/h. The 52V variant is $100 more for 240 Wh more energy and higher sustained voltage under load. Higher voltage means the motor maintains peak torque longer as the battery drains — noticeable on hills and when carrying heavy cargo. For $100, the 52V is the mathematically better value ($0.61/Wh vs $0.62/Wh). But the 48V variant at $1,799 still delivers 2,880 Wh — more than double what most eBikes in this price range offer.

Assembly & Setup
The X5 Pro ships 85% pre-assembled from warehouses in Vancouver and Toronto. Delivery: 5–7 business days to all provinces (except NT, NU, YT). Final assembly takes 30–45 minutes:

What We’d Change (Honest Take)
Zeus sells the X5 Pro because the step-thru cargo frame, 203 mm brakes, and 2,880–3,120 Wh battery create a utility eBike that no competitor matches under $2,000. We also believe in telling you where it trades off:
- 110 lbs is a commitment. Two pounds heavier than the step-over X7 Pro (108 lbs). You need ground-level storage — a garage, a shed, a ground-floor lock-up. Do not buy this bike if your storage involves stairs. The weight is physics: 28 lbs of battery + a rigid cargo frame + full suspension + 203 mm brakes + 4-piston calipers = 110 lbs. No shortcuts.
- Cadence sensor, not torque sensor. The X5 Pro detects whether you are pedalling, not how hard. Motor power is fixed to your PAS level. A torque sensor modulates power proportionally, which feels more natural near pedestrians and on shared pathways. For throttle-dominant riding and delivery work, the cadence sensor is not a dealbreaker — you are controlling speed with the throttle anyway. - No turn signals. At 110 lbs capable of 52 km/h, the X5 Pro has the road presence of a moped. Turn signals should be standard on a cargo bike designed for traffic riding. Budget $30–$50 for aftermarket signals.
- Single motor, no AWD. On dry or packed surfaces, this is an advantage (efficiency, weight, cost). On deep snow, loose sand, or steep unpaved climbs, AWD provides traction a single rear motor cannot match. - 8–10 hour charge time. The 54.6V 6A charger is faster than a standard 3A unit, but 2,880–3,120 Wh is enormous. Overnight charging is the practical reality. If you fully drain the battery during a delivery shift, you are waiting until tomorrow. The range is large enough that most riders will never drain it in a single day — but plan accordingly.
- 7-speed, not 8 or 9. Functional, not refined. Wider gaps between gears. Under 100 Nm of motor torque, shift under light pedal pressure to protect the chain and derailleur.
- The 320 km range claim is manufacturer-ideal. Flat terrain, PAS 1, light rider, warm weather. Canadian reality with mixed riding: 180–290 km in summer (48V) or 200–320 km (52V). In winter: 125–200 km (48V) or 140–220 km (52V). Still exceptional. Just not always 320.
- No rear rack — the cargo system is accessory-driven. The X5 Pro’s rear area includes the passenger seat and foot pegs, but a traditional bolt-on rear rack is not included. Cargo hauling requires the Foldable Platform ($89) or Guardrail Hanger ($149). Budget for these if cargo is your primary use case.
