Taubik Westridge 4T Off-Road
A 1000W Bafang Hub. A Torque Sensor and a Throttle. 26×4.8″ Maxxis Minion Tires. The Westridge Taubik Built for Ground Past the Pavement.
Taubik lists its Westridge 29T and Westridge 4T with 500W motors. The Westridge 4T Off-Road doubles the printed wattage and carries the name of the ground it is meant for. Taubik lists a 1000W Bafang motor with 95 Nm of torque, mounted in the rear hub and governed by a torque sensor, a 48V 20Ah Samsung battery (960 Wh), and 26×4.8″ Maxxis Minion tires under a Mozo FATMAN-HLO coil fork with 100 mm of travel.
The point of that combination is control on loose ground. The torque sensor adds power in proportion to how hard you pedal, which Taubik says gives “better traction, more control, and a natural ride feel” on rough terrain, and the thumb throttle in Taubik’s manual moves the bike when you can’t pedal, up to 32 km/h. Around that: Shimano Acera 8-speed gearing, Zoom dual-piston hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors that cut the motor when you brake, a rear rack with the brake light built in, and a colour LCD.
It also has clear limits, and they come from Taubik’s own paperwork: a 1000W motor puts it outside every province’s e-bike rules on public roads, its manual is written for 0 °C to 40 °C, and its manual’s maximum load is 120 kg. Each one is covered below, so you know before you order. Looking for Taubik’s 500W, 26×4″ Westridge 4T? That is a different bike with its own listing: Taubik Westridge 4T →

⚠️ Canadian legal note: this is an off-road bike
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Taubik prints this motor as 1000W without saying whether that is its rated or peak output, and Taubik’s own FAQ says “500 watts is the maximum approved in Canada to still be considered a bicycle without the need for licensing.”
So on public roads, bike lanes and multi-use paths it is outside the e-bike rules. Ride it on private land you have permission to ride and on trails whose owner or manager allows e-bikes of this power. What riding it on a public road would require differs by province (in Alberta, a machine over 500W needs a licence, registration and insurance), so check yours first.
Want a Westridge with a 500W motor? The Westridge 29T has a 500W motor and a factory 32 km/h limit; check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Start with our Canadian e-bike law guide → or browse 500W e-bikes →
What the Combination Does on Loose Ground
- Power you can meter. A torque sensor reads pedal force, so a light push gives gentle help and a hard push calls up more. Five assist levels top out at 12, 16, 21, 26 and 32 km/h in Taubik’s manual, and both brake levers cut the motor. Motor and sensor types, explained →
- A throttle for the moments pedalling doesn’t work. Pushing off on soft ground or moving a loaded bike: the thumb throttle runs to 32 km/h. Use it sparingly, since the manual’s throttle-only range is 30–35 km.
- Float and grip. Taubik says the 4.8″ Maxxis Minion tires give “traction and flotation over mud, snow, sand, and loose trails”, and the manual sets their pressure range at 5–20 psi. Fat tire e-bikes in Canada →
- A coil fork. The Mozo FATMAN-HLO fork is a coil-spring fork, not an air fork, with 100 mm of travel for “rocks, ruts, roots, and rough terrain”, in Taubik’s words.
- Seen from behind. The brake light sits in the rear rack, which Taubik says puts it “in a high, visible position”.
Key Features
- 1000W Bafang rear hub motor, 95 Nm — Taubik’s spec table reads “1000W Bafang (95 NM)” and its manual describes a Bafang 1000 W / 48 V motor in the rear wheel hub. A hub motor turns the wheel from inside the hub, so its torque does not pass through your chain and cassette the way a mid-drive’s does. Taubik does not say whether 1000W is the rated or the peak figure.
- Torque sensor with five assist levels — Assist follows pedal force; the manual lists the levels at 12, 16, 21, 26 and 32 km/h and adds a walk-assist mode (a long press on the minus button).
- Thumb throttle — Ride without pedalling up to 32 km/h, per the manual. Pedal assist vs throttle →
- 48V 20Ah Samsung battery — 21700 cells with a battery management system; Taubik’s page says “Certified in accordance with UL 2271”. That is 960 Wh by our arithmetic (48 V × 20 Ah). It unlocks with a key and charges on or off the bike: 6–8 hours on the 54.6 V 3 A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
- Maxxis Minion 26×4.8″ tires — On 26″ double-walled spoked rims; 5–20 psi.
- Mozo FATMAN-HLO coil fork, 100 mm travel — The only suspension Taubik lists for this bike.
- Shimano Acera 8-speed — RD-M3020 rear derailleur with a Shimano CS-HG200-8 cassette.
- Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston calipers on 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
- Rear rack with built-in brake light, plus a headlight — The manual rates the rack for 25 kg and says it is not for towing a trailer or carrying a child seat.
- Colour LCD — Battery level, speed, real-time motor power, assist level and headlight status.
- 6061 aluminum frame, 17.5″ — 31.6 × 350 mm seatpost and a kickstand.
How It Arrives
Taubik’s manual says the bike is fully assembled, inspected and adjusted at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled:
- Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, saddle, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
- Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small hardware (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
- The battery, which locks to the frame with a key
- Taubik’s manual for this model is online in French: Westridge 4TOR manual (PDF) →
The manual recommends two people for assembly and lists the tightening torques, including 6 N·m for the handlebar bolt, 10 for the stem and fork bolt, 15 for the saddle, 25 for the front wheel, 55–60 for the rear wheel and 8 for the rack. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- It is an off-road bike, by Taubik’s own numbers. 1000W printed, against the 500W its own FAQ names as the line for a bicycle. If you need an e-bike for roads and paths, see the legal note above.
- Its manual draws the line at 0 °C. Taubik’s page says the tires take on snow; the manual says the bike is not intended for use below 0 °C, and the warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to snow, storage in extreme cold and salt corrosion. We print both because Taubik says both. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it.
- Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The product page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). The rack’s own limit is 25 kg.
- Trails, not jumps. Taubik named it Off Road, yet the manual says it is designed for use “sur une route normale par une seule personne” (on a normal road, by one person) and that “usage tout-terrain extrême, des sauts ou le transport de charges excessives” (extreme off-road use, jumps or excessive loads) will damage it. It also says it is not intended for use above 2,000 m. Read that as trails and rough tracks, not jumps or extreme riding.
- 82 lb and one frame size. Taubik’s page says 82 lb and the manual 37.1 kg; a vehicle rack needs to be rated for it. There is one 17.5″ frame and Taubik publishes no rider-height range or seat height (its dimension chart, in the table below, gives frame geometry), so call us with your inseam before you order.
Inside those limits it is a well-equipped fat bike: torque-sensor control, a throttle, a big Samsung battery, a coil fork and the widest tires of the bikes compared below, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 1000W e-bike like this legal in Canada?
Not as an e-bike on public roads. Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021, so the rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Taubik prints this motor as 1000W without saying whether that is its rated or peak output, and Taubik’s own FAQ says “500 watts is the maximum approved in Canada to still be considered a bicycle without the need for licensing.” Treat the Westridge 4T Off-Road as an off-road bike for private land you have permission to ride and for trails whose owner or manager allows e-bikes of this power, and check your province’s rules before any public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →
Does the Westridge 4T Off-Road have a throttle?
Yes. Taubik’s manual shows a thumb throttle on the handlebar and says you can use it instead of pedalling, up to the bike’s 32 km/h maximum. Riding on the throttle alone costs range: the manual gives 30–35 km on electric power only, against 70–110 km with pedal assist. Pedal assist vs throttle, explained →
Is this the same bike as the Westridge 4T? What does 4TOR mean?
No: Taubik currently lists two bikes with that name. This is the Westridge 4T Off-Road, which Taubik’s spec table and manual call the Westridge 4TOR: a 1000W motor, 26×4.8″ Maxxis Minion tires, a Mozo coil fork and a 20Ah battery. The other is Taubik’s Westridge 4T, with a 500W Bafang motor (80 Nm in Taubik’s spec table), 26×4″ Kenda Juggernaut Pro tires, an RST air fork and a 15Ah battery (Taubik’s feature text for that bike also mentions a 1000W peak and 41 km/h). We list it separately: Taubik Westridge 4T → Check the model name before you order.
How far does it go on a charge, and on the throttle alone?
Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. The manual splits it: 70–110 km with pedal assist and 30–35 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was measured with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures, puts full-power riding (level 5 or the throttle) at typically 35–40 km, and names rider and cargo weight, terrain, temperature, assist level and throttle use as what changes it. By our arithmetic from Taubik’s figures, the 960 Wh battery spends about 9–14 Wh per km on pedal assist and 27–32 Wh per km on the throttle alone: two to nearly four times as much. A full charge takes 6–8 hours. Our e-bike battery guide →
Can I ride it in winter?
Taubik’s own documents point two ways. Its page says the 4.8″ tires take on “mud, snow, sand”, but the manual for this model, which Taubik posts in French, says: “Cet équipement n’est pas destiné à être utilisé à des températures ambiantes inférieures à 0°C ou supérieures à 40°C” (in our translation: this equipment is not intended for use at ambient temperatures below 0 °C or above 40 °C). It also says to charge the battery only between 0 °C and 40 °C, and Taubik’s warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it. Our winter e-bike guide →
What is its weight limit?
Taubik gives two figures: a 286 lb weight capacity on its product page and a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb) in its manual. Plan around the lower one. The rear rack is rated for 25 kg, and the manual says it cannot pull a trailer or carry a child seat. Taubik’s warranty excludes damage from overloading beyond its recommendations. If you and your gear come to more than 120 kg, the Eunorau FAT-HD 2.0 / Hunter X7 carries a 375 lb total payload in Eunorau’s spec, and it is also a 1000W off-road bike. E-bikes for heavier riders →
Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?
Taubik posts this model’s manual online in French: Westridge 4TOR manual (PDF) → It says the bike is assembled and adjusted at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled: the pedals, saddle, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar are loosened or removed, and the charger, pedals and small hardware are in the carton. It recommends two people for assembly and lists the tightening torques, among them 6 N·m for the handlebar, 15 for the saddle, 25 for the front wheel and 55–60 for the rear wheel. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video, so call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.
What warranty does it come with?
Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
