Taubik Monaco S: a 20-Inch Folding Step-Through With a Switchable Sensor, a Lockout Fork and a Lit Rear Rack

The Taubik Monaco S is a folding step-through e-bike on 20 × 3″ CST Big Boat tires. Taubik lists a 500W Sutto rear hub (68 Nm on its page, 65 Nm in its brochure), a 48V Samsung battery “Certified in Accordance with UL 2271”, a sensor that switches between torque and cadence, a thumb throttle, a VIBEE fork with 75 mm of travel and a lockout, Zoom hydraulic brakes and a rear rack with a built-in brake light.

Below are all eleven figures from Taubik’s dimension chart, in inches and millimetres, starting with a 46.1″ (1,170 mm) wheelbase. Its documents also set the limits: 70 lb (31.5 kg net in the manual), a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page), and a manual that rules out use below 0 °C or above 40 °C. Where Taubik’s documents disagree, we print both figures.

What the Combination Does for a City Rider

  • Store it where space is tight. Folding frame and collapsing bars, for “condos, vehicles, and weekend getaways” in Taubik’s words. Folding e-bikes in Canada →
  • Choose the assist feel. Cadence for easy cruising, torque for a ride that follows your pedalling; applying either brake stops the power assist, per the manual.
  • Smooth over city bumps. Wide 20 × 3″ tires plus a fork you can lock out for a firmer feel.
  • Carry and be seen. A rear rack rated 25 kg with a brake light built in.

Monaco S Dimensions and Measurements

Taubik publishes eleven frame figures for the Monaco S, on a chart on its product page: a 46.1″ (1,170 mm) wheelbase, 20.2″ (512 mm) of stack, 18.7″ (475 mm) of reach, an 11.6″ (295 mm) bottom-bracket height and a 15.6″ (395 mm) frame. It publishes no overall length, folded size, stand-over height or seat-height range.

Not published by Taubik: overall length, folded size, stand-over (step-through) height, seat-height range, handlebar height, rider-height range and battery weight. We checked its Monaco S page (including the collapsed panels), the dimension chart, its English, French and display manuals and both brochures on 15 October 2026. You may see a 12.8″ (325 mm) stand-over quoted for the Monaco S: that figure is on Taubik’s chart for the 2025 Monaco, a different frame: Taubik’s charts give the Monaco a 16.1″ (410 mm) frame and the Monaco S a 15.6″ (395 mm) one. Seat heights quoted for the Monaco S elsewhere appear in none of Taubik’s Monaco S documents. Need a number Taubik does not print? Call 1-866-938-7580 before you order.

Key Features

  • 500W Sutto rear hub — “500W SUTTO (68 NM)” on Taubik’s page, “500W Sutto (65 NM)” in the brochure; the manual lists a “SUTTON 48V500W HUB”.
  • Dual torque/cadence sensor — “Switch between torque and cadence sensing to match your preferred riding style”, says Taubik; the manual puts the switch in the display menu.
  • Thumb throttle — Per the manual and brochure. Pedal assist vs throttle →
  • 48V Samsung battery, top-loading — 15 Ah on the page and in the manual, 14.7 Ah in the brochure (21700 cells); Taubik calls it “easy to remove and install without bending down”. It locks with a key and charges in 6–8 hours on the 48V 2A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
  • CST Big Boat 20 × 3″ tires — On 20″ double-walled spoked rims; the manual sets pressure at 35–40 psi. Sidewall colour: Taubik’s feature text promises “refined tan sidewalls” and its lifestyle and dimension-chart photos show them, but its five colour photos in the product gallery show all-black tires: ask us which your colour ships with.
  • VIBEE fork, 75 mm travel, with lockout — Adjustable front suspension, per Taubik’s page.
  • Shimano Altus 7-speed — RD-M310 derailleur and MF-TZ500-7 (Taubik lists it as the cassette), trigger shifter.
  • Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
  • Lights, rack and kickstand — Headlight and tail light (Taubik’s spec table lists “Headlight & Tailight” under integrated lights), a rack rated 25 kg whose brake light “activates as you slow down”, and a kickstand. Taubik’s photos also show a saddle with a small backrest; its spec table does not list one.
  • 6061 aluminum folding frame — “A fully foldable frame and collapsing handlebars”; 15″ in the spec table, 15.6″ (395 mm) on the chart; 31.6 mm × 350 mm seatpost.

How It Arrives

Taubik’s Monaco S manual says the bike is assembled, inspected and tuned at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled:

  • Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
  • Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
  • The battery, which locks in with a key
  • Taubik’s manual for this model: Monaco S manual (PDF) →

The manual recommends two people for assembly and lists the tightening torques (all seven are in the measurements table above). Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Its manual draws the line at 0 °C. Not intended for use below freezing, battery charging only between 0 °C and 40 °C, and the warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to snow, storage in extreme cold and salt corrosion. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it.
  2. Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). The rack’s own limit is 25 kg.
  3. Folding does not make it light. 70 lb on the page (31.5 kg in the manual): fine for a car trunk with two people, hard for one person on stairs.
  4. No folding instructions or folded size. Taubik’s page describes the fold; none of its Monaco S manuals explains it or gives folded dimensions. Ask us for a walkthrough.
  5. Taubik’s documents disagree on details. Torque 68 Nm (page) or 65 Nm (brochure); battery 15 Ah (page, manual) or 14.7 Ah (brochure); frame size 15″ in the spec table or 15.6″ (395 mm) on the chart; tan or all-black tire sidewalls depending on the photo. We show both.

Inside those limits it is a well-equipped city folder: a switchable sensor, a lockout fork, a lit rack and a throttle, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Who Is the Monaco S For?

  • Condo and apartment riders — Fold it to store, as long as someone can help with 70 lb on stairs.
  • Car-trunk and weekend-getaway riders — Taubik designed it for “condos, vehicles, and weekend getaways”; it brings a rack and a throttle along. Measure your trunk against the 46.1″ (1,170 mm) wheelbase plus the tires first.
  • Riders who want to step through — A low frame on wide, stable 20″ tires. E-bikes for seniors →
  • Buyers who want a Canadian-owned brand — Taubik calls itself “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. All Taubik e-bikes →

Who it’s NOT for: riders who need a bike for use below freezing before checking with us or Taubik (the manual’s 0 °C line, which the Monaco and Escape S manuals share). Riders who, with gear, come to more than 120 kg. Anyone who must carry a folder alone up stairs. Riders who want a lower-priced Taubik folder (the Monaco).

Frequently Asked Questions

What riders ask about the Monaco S

What are the Monaco S’s dimensions, and how long is it overall?

Taubik’s chart gives a 46.1″ (1,170 mm) wheelbase, 20.2″ (512 mm) of stack, 18.7″ (475 mm) of reach, a 17.7″ (450 mm) chainstay and a 15.6″ (395 mm) frame; all eleven figures are in the measurements table above. Taubik publishes no overall length or folded size: the bike is longer than its wheelbase, because the tires, fenders and rack reach past the axles, so measure your space generously or call us. The 12.8″ stand-over sometimes quoted for the Monaco S belongs to the 2025 Monaco.

How much does the Monaco S weigh, and what is its weight limit?

Taubik’s page and brochure say 70 lb; the manual says 31.5 kg (about 69 lb) net. Taubik publishes no battery weight. For load, the page says 286 lb weight capacity and the manual a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb): plan around the lower one. The rear rack is rated for 25 kg and is not for a trailer or a child seat.

Is the Monaco S the same bike as the Monaco?

No. Taubik sells both. The Monaco S lists a dual torque/cadence sensor, 68 Nm, CST Big Boat 20×3″ tires, a VIBEE fork with 75 mm of travel and lockout, and a rear rack with a brake light. The Monaco (Taubik’s page address ends in “monaco-2025”) lists a cadence sensor, 55 Nm and Kenda Street 20×3″ tires, and its chart prints a 12.8″ stand-over that the Monaco S chart does not. Taubik’s catalogue tags the Monaco S “2026”. We list it separately: Taubik Monaco →

How does it fold?

Taubik says the Monaco S has “a fully foldable frame and collapsing handlebars”, designed “for condos, vehicles, and weekend getaways”. Neither its English nor its French manual explains the fold or gives folded dimensions, so call us and we will walk you through it, or show you on video, before you order. For transport, plan for 70 lb and two people, and take the battery out first: Taubik says it is easy to remove and install without bending down.

Is the Monaco S legal on Canadian roads?

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). The Monaco S has a 500W motor, 32 km/h in Taubik’s spec table and manual, and working pedals. Its manual also says the display’s speed limit can be adjusted and asks riders not to exceed the limit set by local regulations, while it gives the bike’s maximum speed as 32 km/h; whether an adjustable cap qualifies is not settled. Throttle rules also differ by province, so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

Can I ride it in winter?

Taubik’s manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than 0°C or above ambient temperatures of 40°C”, and to charge the battery only between 0 °C and 40 °C. Its warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it. The manuals of the other Taubik folders we sell, the Monaco and the Escape S, carry the same 0 °C line. Our winter e-bike guide →

Does it have lights?

Yes. Taubik lists integrated lights, “Headlight & Tailight”, and the rear rack carries a brake light that, in Taubik’s words, “activates as you slow down”. The display shows the headlight status.

Where are Taubik bikes made?

Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are designed or manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us.

Are there reviews of the Monaco S?

Not on our listing yet, and Taubik’s own Monaco S page shows none. If you would like to know whether it suits you before buying, call us at 1-866-938-7580: we will tell you honestly, including when another bike fits better.

Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?

Taubik posts the Monaco S manual in English and French: Monaco S manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the charger, pedals and small parts in the carton, and it recommends two people for assembly. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.

Can I get a spare battery or a charger?

Taubik’s online parts collection lists a “2Ah UL” charger and no battery as of 15 October 2026. The Monaco S manual specifies a 48V 2A UL-approved charger and a Samsung 15 Ah pack (48V/15Ah on Taubik’s page) that locks in with a key. For a spare or a replacement, call us and we will check with Taubik which pack and charger fit your bike.

Also worth knowing before you buy

How far does it go on a charge?

Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. Its manual gives 50–95 km with pedal assist and 30–35 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was tested with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures. A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 48V 2A charger. Our e-bike battery guide →

What warranty does it come with?

Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
