Air Suspension Front and Rear, 29×2.6″ Tires and a Torque Sensor. The Alps Is Taubik’s Full-Suspension 29er.

Taubik describes the Alps as “a full suspension mountain bike built to conquer the great outdoors”. It lists a 500W Bafang rear hub with 58 Nm, a torque sensor, a 48V Samsung battery with 21700 cells, Kenda Booster Pro 29×2.6″ tires, a Mozo air fork and an A5 air shock, Shimano Acera 8-speed gearing and Zoom hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors.

Its manual adds a thumb throttle and a cruise-control display, and lists use from −20 °C to 60 °C (charging between 0 °C and 40 °C), wider than most Taubik bikes we sell.

Taubik’s documents also set its limits, including a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page) and two different speed figures on its page. Both are covered below.

What the Combination Does on Rough Ground

  • Suspension at both ends. Taubik says the A5 shock uses “air as its spring medium”; the Mozo fork is an air fork too, so both can be set for your weight. Electric mountain bikes →
  • Big, wide tires. 29×2.6″ Kenda Booster Pro tires at 15–35 psi in the manual.
  • Assist that follows your legs. A torque sensor, and motor cut-off when you brake.
  • Riding season on the manual’s terms. Use from −20 °C, charge indoors.

Key Features

  • 500W Bafang rear hub, 58 Nm — “500W Bafang (58 NM)” on Taubik’s page; the manual lists a “Bafang 500W/48V Hub”.
  • Torque sensor — Per Taubik’s page and manual.
  • Thumb throttle — Per the manual. Pedal assist vs throttle →
  • 48V Samsung battery — 15Ah “UL Certified” on the page; 14.7Ah with BMS, 21700 cells, “UL approved” in the manual. Charges in 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
  • Mozo air fork and A5 air shock — “Mozo Air Forks & A5 Mid Shock” in Taubik’s spec table.
  • Kenda Booster Pro 29×2.6″ tires — On 29″ double-walled spoked rims.
  • Shimano Acera 8-speed — RD-M360 derailleur, CS-HG200-8 cassette, KMC Z8 chain.
  • Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors, with motor cut-off.
  • Display with cruise control — Battery, speed, motor power, assist level, headlight status and time (manual).
  • Lights and kickstand — Headlight and dry-cell rear light (page); kickstand (manual parts list).
  • 6061 aluminum frame, 17″

How It Arrives

Taubik’s Alps manual says the bike arrives in its carton about 75% assembled:

  • Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
  • Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
  • Taubik’s manual for this model: Alps manual (PDF) →

Taubik’s manual for this model says those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”: ask us how that is handled for your order before your first ride. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580.

The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy

  1. Taubik’s page has two speed figures. 32 km/h in the spec table and manual; “top speeds of 41km/h on off road only” and a 1000W peak in a feature paragraph. Ask us how the bike ships before you ride it on public roads.
  2. Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb).
  3. Trails, not jumps. Taubik’s page speaks of “aggressive mountain biking”; the manual says the bike is designed “to be used on a regular road by a single person” and that extreme off-road use and jumping will damage it. We read that as trails and rough ground, not jumps or downhill.
  4. One frame size, and no rider-height range. A 17″ frame; Taubik’s chart gives the stand-over and seat heights in the dimensions table below (the same figures it prints for the Westridge 29T), but no rider-height range. Call us with your inseam.
  5. Battery figures differ. 15Ah on the page, 14.7Ah in the manual.

Inside those limits it is Taubik’s full-suspension 29er, with a torque sensor, a throttle and a manual that allows cold-weather riding, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Alps a full-suspension e-bike?

Yes. Taubik calls it “a full suspension mountain bike” with “Mozo (air) front suspension and A5 (air) mid suspension”. Its manual lists a MOZO air fork. It rolls on 29×2.6″ Kenda Booster Pro tires. Electric mountain bikes in Canada →

Is the Alps legal on Canadian roads?

Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). Taubik’s spec table and manual list a 500W motor and 32 km/h. A feature paragraph on the same Taubik page says the motor “can reach a peak power of 1000W” and that the bike “achieves top speeds of 41km/h on off road only”. We have not confirmed how the bike is set when it ships, so ask us before you ride it on public roads, and check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →

Can I ride it in winter?

Taubik’s Alps manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than -20°C or above ambient temperatures of 60°C”, and that the battery should be charged only between 0 °C and 40 °C. So the manual allows riding below freezing; charge the battery indoors. Taubik’s warranty still excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt, and the manual says to avoid parking it outside when it is raining or snowing. Our winter e-bike guide →

What size is it, and who does it fit?

Taubik’s dimension chart for the Alps gives a 17″ (432 mm) frame, a stand-over height of 27.7″ (705 mm) and a seat height from 34.6″ (879 mm) to 40.4″ (1,028 mm). Taubik prints the same seven figures on its chart for the Westridge 29T, a hardtail, so if a few millimetres matter, ask us to confirm with Taubik. It publishes no rider-height range for the Alps; its French manual includes a general frame guide by leg length, which pairs a 43 cm (about 17″) mountain-bike frame with legs of roughly 66–76 cm. Call us with your height and inseam before you order.

How long does it take to charge, and how far does it go?

A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger, per the manual, which also asks you to charge between 0 °C and 40 °C. Taubik’s page says up to 100 km; the manual gives 70–110 km with pedal assist and 35–40 km on electric power alone. Our e-bike battery guide →

What is its weight limit?

Taubik’s page says 286 lb weight capacity; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb). Plan around the lower one. The bike weighs 29.7 kg on the page and in the manual.

Where are Taubik bikes made?

Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us.

Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?

Taubik posts the Alps manual in English and French: Alps manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar loosened or removed, and that those parts “will need to be installed by a qualified technician to ensure they are secure before using your E-Bike”. Ask us how that is handled for your order; your first month of Zeus Care also includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video.

What warranty does it come with?

Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
