Taubik Blackburn 275T
A Step-Through on 27.5″ Hybrid Tires, With a Sensor You Switch From the Bars and Room for a Second Battery.
The Blackburn 275T is the larger of Taubik’s two Blackburns: Taubik says it is built on the same platform as the 260T, with “a larger frame, bigger wheels, and wider hybrid tires”. It lists a 500W Sutto rear hub with 70 Nm, a 48V Samsung battery (14.7Ah on the page, 15Ah in the manual) “Certified in Accordance with UL 2271”, CST 27.5×2.35″ hybrid tires, Shimano Altus 7-speed gearing and Zoom hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors.
Its two standouts are on the handlebar and in the frame. A dual sensor lets you switch from the display between torque sensing and cadence sensing, and the frame accepts an optional second 14.7Ah battery, which our listing offers as the Dual option. A built-in rear wheel lock and a brake and running light built into the seat stay round it out, with a thumb throttle in Taubik’s manual and brochure.
Taubik’s own documents set its limits: a 120 kg maximum load in the manual (286 lb on the page), and a manual written for 0 °C to 40 °C. Both are below, with both of Taubik’s figures wherever its documents differ.

What the Combination Does for an Everyday Rider
- Pick the ride feel. Torque mode follows how hard you press; cadence mode gives steady help once the cranks turn. Both brake levers cut the motor. Motor and sensor types, explained →
- Grip on mixed surfaces. Taubik describes the CST tires as built for “pavement, gravel, and light trails”; the manual sets their pressure at 5–30 psi.
- Range when you need it. Order the Dual option for the second battery, or ask us about adding it later.
- Short stops made simple. The rear wheel lock secures the bike in seconds; Taubik pitches it for urban riding.
Key Features
- 500W Sutto rear hub, 70 Nm — Taubik’s spec table reads “500W Sutto (70 NM)”; the manual lists an “M122 SUTTON 48V500W HUB”.
- Switchable torque/cadence sensor — Controlled from the handlebar display, per Taubik’s page.
- Thumb throttle — Ride without pedalling up to 32 km/h, per the manual. Pedal assist vs throttle →
- 48V Samsung battery, optional second pack — 14.7Ah on the page and brochure, 15Ah in the manual (21700 cells), “Certified in Accordance with UL 2271”. Removable with a key; charges in 6–8 hours on the 48V 2A charger, between 0 °C and 40 °C.
- CST C1820 27.5×2.35″ tires — On 27.5″ double-walled spoked rims.
- Front coil fork — “RST Blaze Front Coil Suspension 80mm Travel” on Taubik’s page; the brochure says “Mozo Front Coil Suspension 60mm”.
- Shimano Altus 7-speed — RD-M310 derailleur and MF-TZ500-7 (Taubik lists it as the cassette), trigger shifter.
- Zoom hydraulic disc brakes — Dual-piston, 180 mm rotors.
- Built-in rear wheel lock and seat-stay brake light — Plus a headlight and a kickstand (manual parts diagram).
- Colour LCD — Battery level, speed, real-time motor power, assist level and headlight status.
- 6061 aluminum step-through frame, 17″ — 31.6 × 350 mm seatpost.
How It Arrives
Taubik’s Blackburn manual says the bike is assembled, inspected and tuned at the factory, then partly taken apart to ship, and arrives about 75% assembled:
- Loosened or removed for shipping: the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar
- Packed in the carton: the charger, the pedals and small parts (check the bottom of the box before you recycle it)
- The battery (or two, on the Dual option), which locks to the frame with a key
- Taubik’s manual for the Blackburn 260T and 275T: Blackburn manual (PDF) →
The manual recommends two people for assembly and lists the tightening torques, including 6 N·m for the handlebar bolt, 10 for the stem and fork bolt, 15 for the saddle, 25 for the front wheel and 55–60 for the rear wheel. Assembly walkthroughs by phone or video are included in your first month of Zeus Care: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.
The Honest Take: What to Know Before You Buy
- Its manual draws the line at 0 °C. Not intended for use below freezing, battery charging only between 0 °C and 40 °C, and the warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to snow, storage in extreme cold and salt corrosion. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it.
- Plan around 120 kg, not 286 lb. The page says 286 lb; the manual says a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb).
- No rack or fenders listed. Taubik’s page lists neither; its brochure shows an optional front rack. If you carry groceries daily, the Tour S comes with fenders and a lit rear rack.
- Taubik’s documents disagree on details. Battery 14.7Ah (page, brochure) or 15Ah (manual); fork RST Blaze 80 mm (page) or Mozo 60 mm (brochure); weight 69.5 lb (page) or 34.5 kg (manual); frame size 17″ in the spec table or 17.7″ (450 mm) on the dimension chart. We show both.
- Paths and roads, not rough trails. The manual says the bike is designed “to be used on a regular road by a single person” and that extreme off-road use, jumping or excessive loads will damage it.
Inside those limits it is a practical step-through with a switchable sensor, a throttle, a wheel lock and room for a second battery, from a Canadian-owned brand.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the dual sensor do?
Taubik says you can “switch between torque sensing for a responsive, natural pedaling feel or cadence sensing for smooth, steady assistance”, from the handlebar display. The manual lists a torque sensor and a cadence sensor, five assist levels at 12, 16, 21, 26 and 32 km/h, and a walk mode. It also shows a thumb throttle. Pedal assist vs throttle, explained →
What is the Dual battery option?
Taubik says the 275T “is designed to accept an optional second 14.7Ah battery for extended range and fewer charging stops”, on an integrated frame mount. Our listing offers each colour with a single battery or with that second battery (choose Single or Dual in the selector). Taubik’s brochure prints the range as “100km + (60km with Dual Battery)” and does not explain the 60 km, so ask us if the second battery’s range matters to your plans.
Is the Blackburn 275T legal on Canadian roads?
Canada has had no federal e-bike definition since the federal power-assisted-bicycle definition was repealed effective February 4, 2021. E-bike rules are provincial, and they converge on a 500W motor and 32 km/h of assisted speed (Nova Scotia’s statute says 30 km/h). The 275T has a 500W motor, a 32 km/h maximum in Taubik’s spec table and manual, and working pedals. Throttle rules differ by province (British Columbia, for one, sets conditions on how a throttle engages on its standard e-bikes), so check the rules in your province and municipality before public-road use. Our Canadian e-bike law guide →
How far does it go on a charge?
Taubik’s page says up to 100 km. Its manual gives 50–95 km with pedal assist and 35–50 km on electric power alone. Taubik’s FAQ, written for its e-bikes in general, says its 100 km figure was measured with a 160 lb rider on flat ground, no cargo, pedal-assist level 1 and moderate temperatures. A full charge takes 6–8 hours on the 48V 2A charger. Our e-bike battery guide →
Can I ride it in winter?
Taubik’s manual says: “This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than 0°C or above ambient temperatures of 40°C”, and to charge the battery only between 0 °C and 40 °C. Its warranty excludes damage from prolonged exposure to rain, snow or moisture, storage in extreme cold and corrosion from salt. Ask us or Taubik before you plan winter riding on it. Our winter e-bike guide →
What is its weight limit, and how heavy is it?
Taubik gives two load figures: 286 lb weight capacity on its page and a maximum load of 120 kg (about 265 lb) in the manual. Plan around the lower one. The bike is 69.5 lb on Taubik’s page; the manual’s 275T column says 34.5 kg (about 76 lb) net. E-bikes for heavier riders →
Where are Taubik bikes made?
Taubik describes itself as “a proudly Canadian-owned electric bike company”. Its product pages, manuals and policies that we read do not say where the bikes are manufactured, so we will not guess: ask us and we will tell you what Taubik tells us.
Is there a manual, and how does it arrive?
Taubik posts one manual for the Blackburn 260T and 275T in English and French: Blackburn manual (PDF) → It says the bike arrives about 75% assembled, with the pedals, seat, front wheel and sometimes the handlebar loosened or removed, and the charger, pedals and small parts in the carton, and it recommends two people for assembly. Your first month of Zeus Care includes assembly walkthroughs by phone or video: call 1-866-938-7580 before your first ride. Taubik’s warranty conditions include proper assembly and a pre-delivery inspection: ask us how that is handled for your order.
What warranty does it come with?
Taubik’s published warranty covers the frame for 2 years and the electrical components (motor, battery, controller, display and wiring) for 1 year, from the original retail purchase date, for the original purchaser. It excludes wear parts such as tires, brake pads and rotors, chains, cassettes, derailleurs and shifters (unless defective at delivery), and damage from overloading, unauthorized modifications, environmental exposure or missed maintenance; labour is not covered unless Taubik approves it in writing. Your first month of Zeus Care is included: we diagnose the problem, file the claim with Taubik and follow it up. Zeus Care plans run $119 for 1 year, $229 for 2, $339 for 3 and $599 for 5; they are a service, not added parts coverage. Returns are 15 days from delivery on unused, unopened items, with a 15% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. Warranty & Zeus Care →
