Eunorau Flash 1000W — The eBike We Tested for 2 Years and Still Ride Daily
We bought the Flash expecting it to break. A 1000W mid-drive with 220 Nm of torque, triple-battery expansion, and a 440 lb payload capacity — all starting at $2,169? Something had to give. So we loaded it. 300+ lbs of rider and gear. Sustained 12% hill climbs in the Rockies. −15°C January commutes in Alberta. Four seasons, two years, zero breakdowns. The Flash didn’t just survive Canadian conditions — it made us rethink what a sub-$3,000 eBike can do.
The Eunorau Flash 1000W is a modular electric bike platform with three drivetrain options — mid-drive (1000W, 220 Nm), AWD (dual 750W, 1,500W total), and rear-drive (750W) — all built on the same reinforced 6061 aluminium frame. It carries up to 440 lbs (200 kg), supports triple-battery expansion to 54Ah (200+ km real-world range), and has a dedicated ecosystem of six bolt-on accessories that turn it from a trail bike into a cargo hauler and back in 10 minutes.

Why the Flash Exists in a Category of One
No other eBike under $5,000 in Canada lets you do all of this:
- Choose your drivetrain — mid-drive for torque, AWD for traction, rear-hub for budget — on the same frame
- Run three batteries simultaneously — start with 16Ah, expand to 54Ah as you need more range
- Carry 440 lbs — rider, gear, groceries, tools. We tested at 300+ lbs with zero frame flex
- Bolt on 6 purpose-built accessories with dedicated mounting points — no zip ties, no adapters
- Get a torque sensor on every configuration — including the $2,169 entry point. Most competitors use cadence sensors below $2,500
Most eBikes are a fixed package. The Flash is a platform you build over time. Start with what you need. Add what you want later. The frame is ready for all of it.
Key Features
- 3 Drivetrain Options — Mid-drive (1000W / 220 Nm), AWD dual-motor (1,500W / 184 Nm combined), or rear-hub (750W / 92 Nm). Same frame. Your riding style, your choice.
- 220 Nm Peak Torque (Mid-Drive) — The highest-torque electric bike under $4,000 in Canada. Drives through a Shimano 8-speed cassette — in first gear on a steep hill, the effective force at the rear wheel is massive. We climbed a sustained 12% grade fully loaded without the motor breaking a sweat.
- Triple-Battery Expansion — Start with 16Ah (60–110 km). Add a 21Ah down-tube battery (120–200 km). Then a 17Ah top-tube battery (54Ah total, 200+ km real-world). Buy range as you need it — the frame has all mounting points built in from day one.
- 440 lb (200 kg) Payload — Rider, gear, cargo, and accessories. One of the highest payloads in any 20-inch electric bike sold in Canada. We loaded it with 300+ lbs and couldn’t detect frame flex.
- Torque Sensor + Thumb Throttle — Every configuration. The motor responds proportionally to pedal pressure for a natural ride feel and 20–30% better battery efficiency than cadence-sensor bikes. Thumb throttle included for pure motor power on demand.
- 52V System — Higher voltage than 48V competitors. Holds power delivery better in cold Canadian winters — we tested at −15°C and the motor pulled hard right down to the last bar.
- 6 Bolt-On Accessories — Foot plates ($39), fenders ($119), fast charger ($130), rear rack ($159), mid-position basket ($160), and extra batteries ($900–$2,025). All purpose-built. No improvisation.
- Dual Suspension (Mid-Drive) — EXSHO STRONG-DH 80mm front fork + Eunorau 290mm double spring rear suspension. Smooths out Canadian potholes, root-covered trails, and gravel roads.
- Samsung Cells + BMS Protection — Short-circuit, overcharge, over-discharge, and cell balancing on every battery. The same cell chemistry used in major EV manufacturers.
- FREE Security & Starter Kit — Alarm system, U-lock, phone holder, and mirrors included with every purchase. Not an upsell — it’s in the box.
Three Drive Configurations — Choose Your Motor
Mid-Drive: 1000W Truckrun Motor / 220 Nm Torque (Our Recommendation)
The 1000W Truckrun mid-drive sits at the bottom bracket and drives through a Shimano 8-speed cassette. Motor torque multiplies through the gears — in first gear on a steep hill, the effective force at the rear wheel is enormous. At 220 Nm, this is the highest-torque electric bike under $4,000 in Canada. We’ve climbed 12% grades fully loaded, powered through loose gravel that would stall a hub motor, and ridden it daily for two years. The mid-drive configuration also gets dual suspension (EXSHO front fork + 290mm rear spring) and 8-speed Shimano gearing. If you can only buy one configuration, this is it. From $2,899 CAD.
AWD: Dual 750W Motors / 1,500W Total / 184 Nm Combined
Both wheels drive. A front and rear hub motor deliver 1,500W combined power and 184 Nm of torque. On packed snow, mud, sand, and loose gravel, dual-motor traction finds grip where single-motor bikes spin out. Single-speed. No rear suspension. This is the best Flash configuration for Canadian winter riding on flat to rolling terrain — when both wheels pull, you don’t lose traction on ice patches or wet leaves. From $3,259 CAD. See our dual-motor eBike guide →
Rear-Drive: 750W Hub Motor / 92 Nm Torque — The $2,169 Entry Point
The lowest-cost entry to the Flash platform. Same 6061 aluminium frame, same torque sensor, same triple-battery expansion, same accessory compatibility. The 92 Nm hub motor handles flat to moderate terrain for commuting, errands, and light trail riding. Single-speed. This is the “buy now, upgrade later” configuration — you get the platform at the lowest price and can add batteries, rack, basket, and fenders as your needs grow. From $2,169 CAD.
Triple-Battery System — Up to 354 km Rated Range
The Flash is the only electric bike in Canada under $5,000 that supports three batteries running simultaneously. All batteries use Samsung cells with BMS protection. You don’t have to buy all three at once — the frame has all mounting points built in, so you add range as you need it.
| Battery Setup | Capacity | Summer Range | Winter Range (−15°C) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (included) | 52V / 16Ah | 60–110 km | 40–80 km |
| + Second battery (down tube) | 52V / 21Ah | 120–200 km | 80–160 km |
| + Third battery (top tube) | 52V / 17Ah | Up to 354 km rated | 150+ km |
Our real-world test at −15°C with a 220 lb rider on PAS 3: the standard 16Ah battery delivered 52 km. With dual batteries: 110–130 km. With all three (54Ah): 150+ km in winter conditions. Full test data in our 2-year review.

What We’d Change (Honest Take)
Two years of daily riding earns you the right to have opinions. Here are ours:
- Fenders should be included at this price. The $119 fender kit is essential for Canadian riding — rain, slush, puddles. Charging extra for it on a $2,899 bike feels wrong. We’ve told Eunorau. Budget $119 for fenders on top of the sticker price.
- The AWD configuration should have rear suspension. The mid-drive gets dual suspension. The AWD — which is the winter/off-road specialist — gets a rigid rear. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s a missed opportunity.
- 82–92 lbs is heavy. There’s no way around it. The Flash trades weight for payload capacity and durability. If you need to carry it up stairs daily, look elsewhere. If you ride it and park it, the weight disappears once the motor kicks in.
Everything else — the torque sensor, the triple-battery system, the 220 Nm mid-drive, the 440 lb payload, the accessory ecosystem — is best-in-class at this price. We rated it 9.0/10 in our full 2-year review.

Who Buys the Flash?
After two years and hundreds of Flash sales, we know exactly who this bike is for — and who it isn’t.
- Hill climbers who are tired of hub motors giving up at 10% — The 220 Nm mid-drive with 8-speed gearing conquers grades that stop hub motors dead. We climbed 12% fully loaded. Repeatedly.
- Cargo haulers who need a utility vehicle, not a toy — 440 lb payload + rear rack + mid basket = a genuine platform for groceries, tools, and deliveries. One customer uses it for rural property maintenance.
- Canadian winter riders — 52V holds voltage in cold better than 48V competitors. Triple battery eliminates range anxiety at −15°C. AWD configuration finds grip on ice. See our winter eBike guide →
- Hunters who need quiet torque on trails — Torque-sensor delivery is whisper-quiet, high payload handles gear, and the trail-ready build goes where trucks can’t. See our hunting eBike guide →
- Delivery riders & couriers — Dual cargo positions, expandable range for all-day routes, heavy-duty frame built for commercial daily use. See our delivery eBike guide →
- Build-over-time buyers on a budget — Start with the $2,169 rear-drive. Add batteries, rack, basket, and fenders as your needs (and budget) grow. The platform waits for you.
- Riders 5’2″ to 6’4″ — The broadest rider height range in this class. Adjustable seat and handlebar positions.
Who it’s NOT for: Apartment dwellers who carry bikes up stairs (82–92 lbs is too heavy for daily carries). Riders who need a street-legal PAB bike (the mid-drive and AWD exceed 500W). Minimalists who want a lightweight urban commuter — the Flash is built for capability, not for weight savings.
Flash 1000W Accessories — 6 Purpose-Built Add-Ons
Every accessory is designed specifically for the Flash frame with dedicated bolt-on mounting points. No adapters, no zip ties, no drilling. Our recommended build order based on two years of daily riding:
- 1st: Foot Plates Pedals Set — $39 — Wider aluminium platform for better grip on rough terrain and hill climbs. The single best $39 upgrade for any Flash owner. Buy this immediately.
- 2nd: Fender & Lampshade Kit — $119 — Aluminium alloy fenders + headlight shade. Essential for Canadian riding. Rain, slush, puddles — without fenders, your back gets a stripe of mud in the first 5 minutes. Factory mounting points. Should be included at this price (it isn’t).
- 3rd: Rear Rack & Basket Kit — $159 — 25 kg cargo capacity, 2-year warranty. Turns the Flash into a grocery-getter, tool-carrier, and delivery platform. Bolt-on install.
- 4th: Mid-Position Storage Basket — $160 — Aluminium basket mounts mid-frame for low centre-of-gravity cargo. Ideal for heavy items — the low position keeps handling stable even at 30 km/h.
- 5th: 52V 4A Fast Charger — $130 — Cuts charge time significantly. Essential if you run dual or triple batteries. Available in US, AU, EU, and UK plugs.
- 6th: Second & Third Battery — $900–$2,025 — 21Ah down tube + 17Ah top tube. Expand to 54Ah total. Bundle pricing available with fast charger.
How the Flash Compares
| Spec | Flash 1000W Mid-Drive | Typical $2,500 Hub Motor eBike | Typical $4,000 Mid-Drive eBike |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motor Torque | 220 Nm | 80–95 Nm | 120–160 Nm |
| Battery (max) | 54Ah (triple) | 14–20Ah (single, fixed) | 14–20Ah (single) |
| Max Payload | 440 lbs (200 kg) | 250–300 lbs | 265–330 lbs |
| Torque Sensor | Yes (all configs) | Cadence only | Yes |
| Drive Options | 3 (mid, AWD, rear) | 1 (rear hub) | 1 (mid-drive) |
| Gears | Shimano 8-speed | Single or 7-speed | 9–11 speed |
| Suspension | Dual (front + rear) | Front only | Dual |
| Starting Price | $2,899 (mid-drive) | $2,000–$2,800 | $3,500–$5,500 |
The Flash delivers $4,000+ mid-drive performance at a $2,899 price point — with triple-battery expansion and a 440 lb payload that most $5,000 bikes can’t match. The trade-off is weight (82–92 lbs) and component-level finish (the gearing and suspension are functional, not boutique). For the money, nothing else in Canada comes close. Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Eunorau Flash 1000W legal in Canada?
The mid-drive (1000W) and AWD/rear (750W) configurations all exceed Canada’s federal 500W limit for power-assisted bicycles. The Flash is legal on private property, off-road trails, and land with owner permission. Many riders use it on public roads in practice, but it does not meet the federal PAB definition for street-legal classification. We always recommend checking your provincial rules. Read our full Canadian eBike wattage guide →
What is the real winter range?
Tested at −15°C with a 220 lb rider on PAS 3: the standard 16Ah battery delivered 52 km. With dual batteries: 110–130 km. With all three batteries (54Ah): 150+ km. The 52V system outperforms 48V competitors in cold because higher voltage maintains power delivery as cell chemistry slows down. Full winter test data in our 2-year review.
Which drivetrain should I choose?
Mid-drive ($2,899+) for most riders — 220 Nm, 8-speed gearing, dual suspension. Best for hills, trails, cargo, and all-round performance. This is what we ride daily. AWD ($3,259+) for maximum traction on snow, mud, sand, and ice — both wheels pull, so you don’t lose grip. Rear-drive ($2,169+) as the affordable entry point if you want the Flash platform now and plan to upgrade later. Mid-drive vs hub motor explained →
How much weight can it really carry?
440 lbs (200 kg) — the highest payload in any 20-inch electric bike we sell. We’ve tested at 300+ lbs (rider + loaded gear) with zero frame flex and no handling degradation. Add the rear rack (25 kg) and mid-position basket for full cargo capability. One customer runs it as a tool-hauling workhorse on a rural property.
Does it have a torque sensor?
Yes — all three configurations include a torque sensor. This is rare at the $2,169 price point — most competitors use cadence sensors below $2,500. The motor responds proportionally to your pedal pressure, creating a natural ride feel and 20–30% better battery efficiency. A thumb throttle is also included for pure motor power on demand. Pedal assist vs throttle explained →
Can I add batteries later?
Yes. The frame has built-in mounting points for all three batteries. Start with the standard 16Ah and add the second (21Ah, down tube) or third (17Ah, top tube) whenever you need more range. Bundle pricing is available for batteries + fast charger. Many customers start with one battery and add a second within 6 months.
How do I finance this?
Multiple options at checkout: Klarna Pay-in-4 (0% interest, 4 biweekly payments — the mid-drive at $2,899 = ~$725 biweekly), Shop Pay Installments (same 0% structure, no credit check), or PayPlan by RBC for monthly payments over 3–60 months. Provincial rebates may also apply depending on your location. Full financing guide with 3 buyer scenarios →
