eBike Shops in Longueuil, QC (2026): Every Verified Store — SAAQ Rules, Yellow Line eBike Ban & South Shore Cycling
Two things Longueuil eBike buyers need to know before they set foot in a shop. First: Vélo 2000 Longueuil permanently closed in May 2026 after 37 years — the building was sold for a 525-unit residential development. If you rode there as a kid, the shop is gone. The seven shops in this guide are what's open now. Second: the STM Yellow Line metro at Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke station explicitly bans eBikes from the platform and all cars. You cannot take your eBike across to Montréal via metro. The bridge paths to Montréal are a different story — more on that below.
The South Shore eBike retail picture in 2026 is strong despite that loss. Primeau Vélo in Brossard is one of the largest cycling retailers in the greater Montréal region, carrying Trek, Cannondale, Cube, Devinci, and Specialized with a 10-station workshop open seven days a week including Sundays. André Cycle & Sport on rue de Gentilly has been serving Longueuil since 1958 with Giant, Orbea, Devinci, and Liv. Stanley Cycle in Saint-Hubert is a specialist in eBike electrification, conversion kits, and battery service — a different kind of shop that most South Shore riders don't know exists. And Eunorau Canada on boulevard Marie-Victorin is the official Canadian storefront for Eunorau, carrying their full lineup with test rides available by appointment Thursday through Saturday.
Each shop was confirmed against its own website, the Trek store locator, the Specialized dealer finder, MEC's official store page, and secondary directories in June 2026 — address, phone, hours, and brands. Quebec SAAQ eBike rules verified against saaq.gouv.qc.ca (primary source). STM bicycle/eBike policy verified at stm.info. RTL transit policy verified at rtl-longueuil.qc.ca. JCCBI bridge cycling path rules verified at the JCCBI official pages. Vélo 2000 Longueuil closure confirmed via Le Courrier du Sud (April 2026). Found an error? milad@zeusebikes.ca.
Seven verified shops on the South Shore as of June 2026. Full-service dealer, Giant/Orbea/Devinci/Liv, since 1958: André Cycle & Sport (31 rue de Gentilly Ouest, Longueuil, 450-674-8009, Tue–Wed 10–6, Thu–Fri 10–7, Sat 10–5). Trek/Cannondale/Cube/Devinci/Specialized, 7-day hours: Primeau Vélo Brossard (5775 boul. Taschereau, Brossard, 514-666-0695). Eunorau exclusively, by appt: Eunorau Canada (1734 boul. Marie-Victorin, Longueuil, 450-912-3078, Thu–Sat 10:30–5:30). Electric mobility specialist: Stanley Cycle (5351 boul. Maricourt, Saint-Hubert, 450-332-8737, Tue–Fri noon–5pm). Service + repairs: MEC Longueuil (4869 boul. Taschereau, 450-766-1359, 7-day). KEY RULE: eBikes are BANNED from the STM Yellow Line metro and all STM buses — you cannot cross to Montréal by metro. Bridge paths (Champlain, Jacques-Cartier) have no published eBike ban. See our Quebec eBike laws guide and Canadian eBike buying guide.

Quebec SAAQ eBike Rules — What Applies in Longueuil
Vélo 2000's May 2026 closure removes what had been the South Shore's primary store for riders who needed personalized help decoding Quebec's eBike framework before buying. Many riders are now doing that research online — and running into the same widespread error about throttle. The SAAQ primary source answers it directly.
Motor: Maximum 500W nominal. A bike rated 750W nominal is not a legal PAB in Quebec regardless of software limits or mode settings — the nominal motor rating is what SAAQ uses.
Speed: Motor assist must cease at 32 km/h. Riders may pedal faster.
Throttle: PERMITTED. SAAQ states: "The electric assistance may be activated by the pedals or accelerator control." Throttle is legal in Quebec. The 32 km/h cutoff applies regardless of activation method.
Pedals: Functional pedals required.
Age: 18+: no licence. 14–17: Class 6D SAAQ licence required (6-hour safety course + 75% exam). Under 14: not permitted.
Helmet: Mandatory all ages. Fine: $60–$100.
Licence / registration / insurance: Not required for riders 18+
Autoroutes: Prohibited
Violation fine: $300–$600 for non-compliant motor (over 500W nominal, or assist not cutting at 32 km/h)
Source: SAAQ, saaq.gouv.qc.ca
The 500W nominal rule has a practical consequence for South Shore buyers. Several popular eBike models sold across Canada have 750W or 1,000W nominal motors with software caps that prevent riding faster than 32 km/h. Those bikes are not legal PABs in Quebec — SAAQ classifies by the motor's rated power, not the software-limited output. Buyers should confirm nominal motor wattage before purchasing, and any shop in Longueuil worth its reputation will be able to tell you exactly what the nominal rating is for any model they sell.
Throttle is legal in Quebec. Nominal motor wattage must be 500W or less — software limits on higher-wattage motors don't make the bike a legal PAB. Riders 14–17 need a Class 6D licence. Our Quebec eBike laws guide covers the complete provincial framework including fine amounts and registration-exempt zones.
STM Yellow Line — eBikes Are Explicitly Banned
The most important infrastructure fact for Longueuil eBike riders: the STM explicitly bans electric bikes from the Yellow Line metro and all STM buses. Many riders discover this at the station barrier, which is a bad moment to find out.
The STM states directly: "Motorized scooters and electric personal transport devices, such as electric bikes, are no longer allowed inside métro infrastructure and buses."
This applies to:
✗ Yellow Line (Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke to Berri-UQAM)
✗ Orange, Green, Blue lines
✗ All STM buses
Regular (non-electric) bicycles on the Yellow Line:
✓ May 18–August 16, 2026: permitted at all times
✓ Aug 17, 2026 – May 17, 2027: weekdays before 7am, 9:30am–3:30pm, after 6pm; weekends/holidays all times
Minimum age 14 (or with adult). Maximum 2 bikes per car. Middle or rear cars only.
Folding bikes: Permitted at all times on all lines when kept folded. A folding eBike carried folded is not explicitly addressed by STM — it may qualify as "folded luggage" but this is not confirmed. Contact STM: 514-786-4636.
Bike slides (glissoires à vélo): Installed at Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke station — allows cyclists to descend to the platform without lifting their bike.
Source: STM, stm.info
For a Longueuil resident who bought an eBike specifically to replace their car commute to Montréal, this ban reshapes the entire route plan. The Yellow Line is not an option for part of the journey. The bridge paths are the alternative — and they don't have a published eBike ban.
eBikes are banned from the STM Yellow Line and all STM buses — confirmed from the STM primary source. Plan your Montréal commute around the bridge paths (Champlain, Jacques-Cartier), not the metro. A regular bike can use the Yellow Line during off-peak hours and then ride to work. An eBike must cross by bridge the entire way.
Bridge Paths to Montréal — eBike Access
Three cycling structures connect the South Shore to Montréal. None has a published eBike ban as of June 2026 — though none has published an explicit eBike permission either. The current legal framework classifies compliant eBikes as bicycles under SAAQ, which is the most relevant precedent.
Samuel De Champlain Bridge multi-use path (Pont Samuel-De Champlain):
Length: 3.4 km · Year-round · Speed limit: 20 km/h
Connects: Brossard (La Riveraine path) to Île-des-Sœurs
Published prohibition: "motorized vehicles such as scooters and motorcycles" — no specific mention of eBikes
eBike status: No published ban. SAAQ classifies compliant eBikes (≤500W, 32 km/h) as bicycles, not motorized vehicles. Likely permitted — but JCCBI has not published a written eBike policy.
Contact JCCBI to confirm: pontsamueldechamplain.ca
Jacques-Cartier Bridge multi-use path:
Connects: Old Montréal riverfront to Saint-Lambert area
Hours: Daily (24/7 in summer; 5am–10:30pm in winter)
Notes: 2.5-metre-wide path with 5 chicane barriers along the route. Le Devoir has reported these barriers as collision hazards — take them carefully.
eBike status: No published ban found. Same reasoning applies as Champlain Bridge.
Estacade cycling path (alongside Champlain Bridge, over the ice control structure):
Connects: Parc Jean-Drapeau to South Shore cycling network
eBike status: No published ban found. Managed by JCCBI.
Recommendation: Contact JCCBI before your first bridge eBike crossing: info@jccbi.ca

Read the Buying Guide →RTL Transit — eBike Bus Policy
Which routes have bike accommodation: Lines 61, 461, and 462 ONLY (these cross via the Louis-Hyppolite-La Fontaine Tunnel to Montréal). All other RTL routes: no bike accommodation.
Season 2025: May 19 – October 13, 2025 (2026 dates not yet published; assume a similar seasonal window)
Boarding stops (South Shore):
Line 61: Mortagne park-and-ride only
Lines 461 and 462: Mortagne and Touraine park-and-rides
Explicitly prohibited on RTL racks: Electric scooters, trailers, tandem bikes, three-wheeled bikes, and oversized accessories
eBikes: Not in the prohibited list. Not in the permitted list either. Whether a SAAQ-compliant eBike is treated as a permitted bicycle or a prohibited electric device is not resolved in the published policy. Call RTL before trying: 450-463-0131 (Mon–Fri 7am–7pm, weekends 8:30am–4:30pm)
Bike parking at Terminus Longueuil: RTL operates a vélostation (secure covered parking) at Terminus Longueuil — a park-and-ride option for eBike riders who lock up at the terminal and continue by transit without the bike.

South Shore Cycling Network — 210 km
Longueuil's cycling infrastructure is the most extensive on the South Shore — 210 km of cycling paths representing 20% of the entire Montérégie region's network. Since 2025, the city's Réseau blanc program clears 116 km for winter use, with 32 km added for the 2025–2026 season, giving the South Shore a genuine year-round cycling corridor.
La Riveraine path: 50+ km along the St. Lawrence River through Longueuil, Brossard, Saint-Lambert, La Prairie, and Varennes. Connects directly to the Champlain Bridge multi-use path for Montréal access. Route Verte 1 designated.
Route Verte 1: Passes through the South Shore along the riverfront, connecting Saint-Lambert and Longueuil westward.
Route Verte 3: North toward Boucherville and Varennes — the route for the popular Boucherville–Varennes 50 km loop.
Parc Michel-Chartrand: 1.85 km² urban forest park in Longueuil with ~20 km of internal cycling paths. No published eBike ban — compliant eBikes are likely permitted as SAAQ classifies them as bicycles. Confirm with the city before riding: 311 or 450-463-7311.
Regional trail eBike bans: None found for Longueuil or adjacent South Shore municipalities. No bylaw, no municipal announcement, no Réseau de parcs restriction. This is a meaningful negative finding: unlike NCC Gatineau Park (which bans eBikes from Trail 5), the South Shore urban/riverside corridor has no published eBike restriction.

210 km of cycling paths, year-round winter clearing on 116 km, Route Verte network access, and no South Shore trail eBike ban. The Longueuil cycling infrastructure makes a compelling daily-rider city — the only friction point is the STM Yellow Line ban for metro crossings to Montréal. Bridge paths are the workaround.

The Shops — Longueuil & South Shore
1. André Cycle & Sport
31 rue de Gentilly Ouest, Longueuil, QC J4H 1Y9 · (450) 674-8009 · boutique.andrecyclesport.com
Hours: Tue–Wed 10am–6pm · Thu–Fri 10am–7pm · Sat 10am–5pm · Sun–Mon closed
eBike brands: Giant, Orbea, Devinci, Liv, Momentum · full-service workshop, bike fitting
Services: Sales, mechanical service, bike fitting, eBike repairs
André Cycle & Sport has been operating in Longueuil since 1958 — through the closure of Vélo 2000 and multiple market cycles before it. The shop carries Giant's full electric lineup (Explore E+, Trance X E+, Stance E+), Liv (Giant's women's brand), Devinci, Orbea, and Momentum (Giant's urban/commuter sub-brand). As Longueuil's longest-running independent bike shop and one of the few remaining after Vélo 2000's closure, it occupies a central position in the city's cycling market. Bike fitting services — rare at this price point — make it a strong choice for buyers who want proper ergonomic setup alongside their purchase.
2. Eunorau Canada — Longueuil
1734 Boulevard Marie-Victorin, Longueuil, QC J4G 1A5 · (450) 912-3078 (also: 514-798-6780) · ca.eunorau-ebike.com
Hours: Thu–Sat 10:30am–5:30pm · Other days by appointment
eBike brands: Eunorau exclusively · free test rides available by appointment
Services: Sales, repair service, test rides
This location is the official Canadian Eunorau storefront, transitioning from the earlier "Vélo Électrique Dépôt" branding (the vedepot.com website explicitly notes the rebrand in progress). Eunorau makes fat-tire, cargo, folding, and step-through eBikes at accessible price points. The Thursday–Saturday hours and appointment-first model mean this is a shop to book before visiting rather than drop in. Free test rides are a meaningful differentiator — it is one of the few South Shore locations where you can actually ride before buying. Call 450-912-3078 before visiting to confirm current hours and book a test ride.
3. Primeau Vélo — Brossard
5775 Boulevard Taschereau, Brossard, QC J4Z 1A5 · (514) 666-0695 · primeauvelo.com
Hours: Mon–Wed 9:30am–6pm · Thu–Fri 9:30am–9pm · Sat 9:30am–5pm · Sun 10am–5pm
eBike brands: Trek, Cannondale, Cube, Devinci, Specialized, Electra
Services: Sales, 10-station workshop (all brands, tune-ups to full overhauls, suspension service), bike fitting
Primeau Vélo Brossard is the strongest eBike retailer on the South Shore. The brand lineup covers the full spectrum from Trek's Verve+ commuter eBike through the Specialized Turbo Vado and on to mountain eBikes like the Trek Rail and Specialized Turbo Levo. The Cannondale Moterra and Cube Stereo Hybrid add more mountain-oriented options. The 10-station workshop handles all brands — not just the brands they sell — which matters for South Shore riders who bought elsewhere and need service. Seven-day hours including Sunday 10am–5pm and Thursday–Friday until 9pm make Primeau Vélo Brossard the most accessible shop in the region by schedule.

Financing Guide →4. Cycle Néron — Saint-Lambert
667 Avenue Victoria, Saint-Lambert, QC J4P 2J7 · (450) 671-8027 · cycleneron.com
Hours: Mon–Fri 10am–6pm · Sat 10am–5pm · Sun closed
eBike brands: Multi-brand (operating as Cycle Néron since the Castonguay Cycles & Sport rebrand) · call to confirm current electric inventory: 450-671-8027
Services: Full-service shop
This shop at 667 avenue Victoria began as Castonguay Cycles & Sport (established 1941), one of the oldest cycling retailers in the region. It now operates under the Cycle Néron banner. Saint-Lambert's position directly across the Victoria Bridge from Montréal makes this shop the most convenient for riders who cross the river frequently — it sits on the South Shore end of the Route Verte 1 corridor. Call ahead to confirm current eBike stock and brands: the Cycle Néron chain carries various brands by location and their eBike selection at Saint-Lambert specifically was not published online at time of verification.
5. Stanley Cycle
5351 Boulevard Maricourt, Saint-Hubert (Longueuil), QC J3Y 1B5 · (450) 332-8737 · stanleycycle.com (website intermittently unavailable — call ahead)
Hours: Tue–Fri noon–5pm · Sat by appointment · Mon and Sun closed
eBike brands: Ecolo-Cycle (sales) · battery sales and replacement, electrification conversions, eBike repairs all brands · since 2012
Services: eBike sales, repairs, battery service, bike electrification conversions, quadriporteur and triporteur sales
Stanley Cycle is a specialist in electric mobility — not a general bike shop with an eBike section, but a shop whose core business is battery-powered transport. Services include battery replacement and sourcing for any eBike brand, bike electrification conversions (converting a regular bike to electric), repair of eBikes regardless of where they were purchased, and quadriporteur and triporteur sales for mobility-limited riders. The Tuesday–Friday noon–5pm hours are narrow — plan your visit accordingly, and call ahead to confirm Saturday appointment availability. For South Shore riders with battery issues, component failures, or conversion projects on bikes that other shops won't service, Stanley Cycle fills a gap that no other shop in the region covers.
6. MEC — Longueuil
4869 Boulevard Taschereau, Longueuil, QC J4V 3K3 · (450) 766-1359 · mec.ca
Hours: Mon–Wed 10am–7pm · Thu–Fri 10am–9pm · Sat 9am–6pm · Sun 10am–6pm
eBike brands: Some eBike models (varies by season — not an eBike specialist)
Services: Full bike repair service including eBikes, urban, gravel, mountain, and kids bikes · overhauls, tune-ups, wheel truing, suspension service
MEC Longueuil is a general outdoor retailer with a strong bike service department. It is not an eBike specialist — the electric bike sales inventory varies seasonally and is limited compared to dedicated eBike dealers. However, MEC's service department accepts eBikes of any brand for repairs, which is relevant for South Shore riders who bought online or from out-of-region. The seven-day hours including evenings (Thu–Fri until 9pm, Sat from 9am) make MEC one of the most schedule-accessible service options on the South Shore.
7. Trek Bicycle — Boucherville (Nearby, ~12 km)
500 Rue d'Avaugour, Unit 1400, Boucherville, QC J4B 0G6 · (438) 258-1493 · trekbikes.com
Hours: Tue–Fri 10am–6pm · Sat 10am–5pm · Sun–Mon closed
eBike brands: Trek exclusively (Verve+, Domane+, Rail, FX+, etc.)
Services: Sales, "24-hour service and repair on bikes of any brand"
Trek Bicycle Boucherville is approximately 12 km east of downtown Longueuil via boulevard Marie-Victorin. It is the closest dedicated Trek flagship store to the South Shore, carrying Trek's full eBike lineup from the city-commuter Verve+ through the Domane+ road eBike and the Rail mountain eBike. Trek's 24-hour service promise (for repairs, not just tune-ups) distinguishes this location. For South Shore riders committed to the Trek ecosystem or requiring Trek warranty service, this is the destination — closer than driving into Montréal proper.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many eBike shops are in Longueuil, QC?
Seven verified shops serve the South Shore as of June 2026: André Cycle & Sport (31 rue de Gentilly Ouest, Longueuil — Giant, Orbea, Devinci, Liv, since 1958), Eunorau Canada (1734 boul. Marie-Victorin, Longueuil — Eunorau, Thu–Sat), Primeau Vélo Brossard (5775 boul. Taschereau, Brossard — Trek/Cannondale/Cube/Devinci/Specialized, 7-day hours), Cycle Néron Saint-Lambert (667 ave Victoria — multi-brand), Stanley Cycle (5351 boul. Maricourt, Saint-Hubert — electric mobility specialist), MEC Longueuil (4869 boul. Taschereau — service), and Trek Bicycle Boucherville (500 rue d'Avaugour, ~12 km away). Vélo 2000 Longueuil permanently closed May 2026.
Can I bring my eBike on the STM Yellow Line metro in Longueuil?
No. The STM explicitly bans eBikes from all metro lines and all STM buses: "Motorized scooters and electric personal transport devices, such as electric bikes, are no longer allowed inside métro infrastructure and buses." Plan your Montréal commute around the bridge paths (Champlain, Jacques-Cartier), not the Yellow Line. Source: STM, stm.info.
Can I ride my eBike across the Samuel de Champlain or Jacques-Cartier Bridge?
No published eBike ban on either bridge. The Champlain Bridge multi-use path (3.4 km, year-round, 20 km/h) prohibits "motorized vehicles such as scooters and motorcycles" but does not specifically mention eBikes. SAAQ classifies compliant eBikes (≤500W, 32 km/h) as bicycles — likely permitted. Contact JCCBI to confirm before riding: pontsamueldechamplain.ca. Medium confidence. Source: JCCBI.
Is throttle allowed on eBikes in Quebec?
Yes. SAAQ confirms: "The electric assistance may be activated by the pedals or accelerator control." Throttle is legal. The 32 km/h assist cutoff applies regardless of activation method. Many third-party sources incorrectly claim Quebec bans throttle. Source: SAAQ, saaq.gouv.qc.ca.
Can I bring my eBike on an RTL bus in Longueuil?
The RTL's Vélo-bus service runs only on Lines 61, 461, and 462 (seasonal, ~May–October, tunnel crossing to Montréal). eBikes are not explicitly listed as permitted or prohibited — the policy bans "electric scooters" but does not define eBike status. Call RTL before attempting: 450-463-0131 (Mon–Fri 7am–7pm, weekends 8:30am–4:30pm). Source: RTL, rtl-longueuil.qc.ca.
What Quebec eBike rules apply in Longueuil?
Quebec SAAQ rules: motor maximum 500W nominal (software limits on higher-rated motors don't qualify), assist cuts off at 32 km/h, functional pedals required. Riders 18+: no licence needed. Riders 14–17: Class 6D SAAQ licence required. Helmet mandatory all ages. No registration or insurance required for riders 18+. Throttle permitted. Autoroutes prohibited. Source: SAAQ, saaq.gouv.qc.ca.
Is Primeau Vélo Brossard the biggest eBike shop on the South Shore?
By brand breadth, workshop capacity, and hours, yes. Primeau Vélo at 5775 boulevard Taschereau in Brossard carries Trek, Cannondale, Cube, Devinci, and Specialized with a 10-station workshop that services all brands. Open 7 days including Thursday–Friday until 9pm and Sunday 10am–5pm. Phone: 514-666-0695. It is also the only South Shore shop with confirmed Specialized dealer status.
The Bottom Line
The South Shore lost Vélo 2000 in May 2026 — a 37-year institution — but the remaining seven shops cover the full range from premium multi-brand dealer to electric mobility specialist to official brand storefront. The STM Yellow Line eBike ban is the single most important infrastructure rule for Longueuil riders planning a Montréal commute: the metro is not an option, bridge paths are. The South Shore's 210 km cycling network, winter clearing on 116 km, and Route Verte access make it a genuinely capable eBike city — the infrastructure is there. The transit connection to Montréal just requires a bridge instead of a metro card.
